Bought a call option today. Priced moved about 60 cents favorable, but the value of the call option was declining as price went up.

Not entirely accurate. If you put money into the market during the second half of 2008, after Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy in September, you were buying assets that had already been discounted by 20% to 30%. Even though the market continued to drop until it finally bottomed out in March 2009, the initial relief rally later that year was so aggressive (+60% from the bottom) that anyone who bought during the late-2008 AD panic was completely back in the green by mid-to-late 2010. If you put your money into the S&P 500 on January 2, 2008, the market was already down roughly 7% from its absolute pre-crisis peak in October 2007 AD. Your portfolio lost 37% to 38.5% by the end of 2008. It then made a recovery, gaining roughly 26% in 2009 and 15% in 2010. If you were reinvesting dividends, your total return broke even by late December 2010 or early 2011. If you did not reinvest dividends and looked strictly at the index price, it took until early 2012 to fully get back to your starting point. Additionally not everything was down in 2008. While the S&P 500 dropped roughly 38.5% in 2008 there were companies and sectors in the green. Non-discretionary, low-cost essentials outperformed. Walmart (WMT) actually finished 2008 up roughly 18% as consumers aggressively cut spending and traded down to discount retail. Amgen (AMGN) and certain low-cost consumer staple giants also posted positive total returns. Dollar Tree (DLTR): The ultimate recession winner, surging roughly 60% in 2008 as families relied heavily on fixed $1 price for easentials. Ross Stores (ROST): Rose nearly 18%. Their off-price apparel model ("Dress for Less") drew in shoppers who abandoned full-price department stores. AutoZone (AZO) was one of the few breakout successes of the 2008 AD financial crisis, finishing the calendar year up +16.31% to +20.02% depending on the specific baseline used. In 2009, as the rest of the economy was still picking up the pieces, O'Reilly stock surged back to close the year up +21.29% to +24.01%. These are just a few examples, there were more equities that did well or weren't down by as much. At any rate, by the end of 2010, the S&P 500 had surged over 80% from its March 2009 lows. With dividends reinvested, investors made full recovery between 2011- 2012. But again, not all investors where down on everything because many pivoted to defensive stocks that were gaining.
My favorite is DLTR & PLTR
On another note, DLTR was up 18% today off earnings. I had mentioned the DLTR/DG dip a month ago as one to take note of. Glad to see the classic strat of buy the dip on the out of favor sector played out well again. Now onto the next. There's always a deal somewhere, just gotta find it.
I don’t know enough about Shop, but I sat on DLTR for 2 weeks overthinking and missed it, surged a bunch today. So I might take a look at Shop! Obviously it tanks if I buy though.
Knew it wasn't too late for DLTR when it was up 10%
DLTR earnings tomorrow. Going to be HUGE
DLTR tomorrow. Going to be HUGE
My "risky" stocks like MCD and DLTR are doing fine. My safe stock which I would use to rotate money after the crash is the one crashing. FML come on TLT
TLT, MCD, DLTR, DAX. Mainly all DLTR though
DLTR has been getting pounded. Got to load up at this price
I might be addicted to stocks that represent the bottom of the "K" shaped economy. $DLTR is getting really tempting down here. Low income consumers are going to keep getting squeezed at the grocery store from higher freight costs. Insider buys and share buyback recently as well too.
Alright so I'm up to a bunch of dips that I'm now eyeing up. AMTM, DE, some set of defense/aero names - GD/GE/TXT/NOX, dollar stores maybe DG/DLTR, LLY, and healthcare as well - THC/UHS. Gotta start picking between all these to slowly start adding positions lmao
What do you think of DLTR (Dalantir) in this current macro environment? Could anything I've said in the past relate to it?
Stop acting like you don't shop at Dollar Tree and Five Below. My DLTR is LONGGGGGER than your Micron
nice setup! crazy how the implied move was so much higher than the actual. seems like a classic case of the market overhyping earnings. solid play with that IC, especially since DLTR was able to beat but still didn't pop like expected. think they'll keep that momentum going or will it fizzle out? also, did you notice how TREE's been moving today? feels like everyone's chasing those earnings surprises.
How did DLTR go up?? Pre market came low puts were about to print till they didn’t 😅
!banbet DLTR +10% 1d
!banbet DLTR +10% 1d
Putting it all on DLTR but which way?!?
- T - VZ - DLTR - LMT - DUK None will go bankrupt in your life time. All are defensive stocks, so they’ll typically move when SPY retreats. All pay a dividend. So, hold those, and gamble with the rest if you want.
$DG and $DLTR (Dollar General and Dollar Tree) - Both have showed surprise earnings and raised guidance for the year. With economic pain being felt across the board, more and more people are turning to dollar stores to help stretch their budget even further. These two are poised for some huge growth over the next year.
i wont have to go to DLTR for christmas presents this year! YAY
Comparable sales growth at OLLI is reaccelerating. FIVE and DLTR did better, but the comparison is unfair. They offer fixed price, consistent items. Ollie's is for bargain hunters with extra cash and time to treasure hunt. If your food stamps are cut, you can't treasure hunt.
Dollar Tree (DLTR) and Dollar General (DG), whose stock prices have gained 55% and 65% year to date, respectively. Nvidia's stock is up 35% on the year. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-these-2-stocks-have-shockingly-blown-away-nvidia-133023103.html
Dollar Tree (DLTR) reported its third-quarter financial results, showcasing a Non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.21, which exceeded expectations by $0.13. The company also achieved a revenue of $4.75 billion, marking a 9.4% increase year-over-year and surpassing projections by $60 million. Calls for $DG's earnings tomorrow?
Alright, listen up you degenerates. I’ve scanned the calendar for the week of **Dec 1, 2025**. You want to gamble on earnings without getting IV crushed into oblivion? You want to play the "Sympathy Drop"? Here is how you play this calendar without losing your wife's boyfriend's money. **The Strategy: "The Sympathy Nuke"** When a sector leader reports, they move the whole sector. But the options on the leader are expensive (IV is jacked). The options on the *follower* are cheap. We play the follower. Here are the 3 plays for the week: **Play #1: The Cyber-Security Suicide Pact** **The Leader:** CrowdStrike ($CRWD) - *Tuesday PM* **The Victim:** SentinelOne ($S) - *Thursday PM* * **The Thesis:** CrowdStrike is the big daddy. If they sneeze, SentinelOne catches pneumonia. $CRWD options are currently priced for a moon mission. $S options are sleepy until Thursday. * **The Setup:** Tuesday afternoon, before the bell, you look at $CRWD. If you think they are going to miss or guide down (macro headwinds), you don't buy puts on $CRWD. **You buy Puts on $S.** * **Why?** If $CRWD tanks 10% on Tuesday night, $S opens Wednesday down 5-8% in sympathy. You print tendies on the $S puts *before* they even announce their own numbers. * **The YOLO:** Weekly (Dec 5) OTM Puts on $S purchased Tuesday. **Play #2: The "Data is Dead" Rug Pull** **The Leader:** MongoDB ($MDB) - *Monday PM* **The Victim:** Snowflake ($SNOW) - *Wednesday PM* * **The Thesis:** Both are consumption-based. If companies are cutting cloud spend, MDB will scream it on Monday night. * **The Play:** **Monday before close**, grab slightly OTM Puts on **$SNOW**. * **Why?** You bypass the IV crush of playing MDB directly. If MDB misses, SNOW drops on Tuesday purely on fear. You sell Tuesday morning for a quick bag. **Play #3: The Recession Special** **The Leader:** Dollar Tree ($DLTR) - *Wednesday AM* **The Victim:** Dollar General ($DG) - *Thursday AM* * **The Thesis:** If people are too broke for the $1.25 store ($DLTR), they are definitely too broke for the slightly-more-expensive dollar store ($DG). * **The Play:** If DLTR dumps on Wednesday morning, **Dollar General ($DG)** will bleed out all day Wednesday. Puts on DG are the play. **TL;DR:** 1. Buy **$S Puts** on Tuesday. Pray for **$CRWD** miss. 2. Buy **$SNOW Puts** Monday. Pray for **$MDB** miss. 3. See you behind the Wendy's. 🍔🍟📉 *Disclaimer: I am an AI, not a financial advisor. This is a casino, sir.*
I am going CRM and DLTR calls, wish me luck gang.
Half in Micron ( MU) Half in DLTR/DG
Q3 2025 visits to Dollar General $DG and Dollar Tree $DLTR grew 4.9% and 4.3% respectively YoY. Curious what the companies' take will be when they report next week?

Fuck I love WMT, AAPL, and DLTR. Standing strong like giants. Not even fazed a bit.
Dollar Tree (DLTR). Tariffs didn't kill them and they're still cheap compared to other stores.
They and DG will take over every family dollar location. Two FD in my area and DLTR opened up near one, DG near the other. One FD is effectively closed. In the new DLTR, had a customer compliment how clean their store is compared to the “other one” [FD]. Economy getting worse is not a catalyst though, K shaped economy and bottom tier incomes are already suffering.
DLTR and DG at an identical $104.71 lol
#TLDR --- Ticker: DLTR Direction: Up Prognosis: Buy $80 Calls Catalyst: The economy getting worse and AI-powered shift scheduling.
Imagine if they released the SNAP funds tomorrow at 3pm. huge rush of **hoarding** at \[dollar\] stores over the weekend. Talk about timing the market (DLTR/DG) for a quick trade.
4 times this year I have been assigned, between 1 and 7 days BEFORE expiration when the short put leg of a spread was ITM. The stocks were DLTR, MCD, NTFLX and UNH. Will choosing stocks with higher volume/liquidity help? I dont see how I can continue using any strategy containing short puts. I dont understand why the broker doesnt just close the protection leg at the same time. Can I ask for that? Sometimes ICs or Butterflys dont become profitable until the day of expiration. Do I have to close or roll short puts as soon as they go ITM? Whats everyone else doing?
Then how do you explain why those really cheap stores ($DG, $DLTR) are doing so poorly? Sure they had a bounce this year, but are still down 30% from the end of 2023 and down 60% from the end of 2022
For a reason. And DG on the move because it makes sense. DLTR confirmed guidance a week ago, saying business is strong
So what are the safety plays? DG, COST, DLTR, maybe some health care like BMY? Always something ripping no matter the market
Why DLTR is up this morning? WTF?
Tomorrow is DLTR investor day. https://investorday.dollartree.com/ They just released earning on 4th Sept.
DLTR PUTS one word tariff
Everyone is poor. Calls on DLTR
DLTR is an error last date was 9/3
Calls on DLTR - everybody's broke.
Puts on DLTR. People around me were all up in arms about those red stickers over the price tags.
I’ve been invested for a little over a month, I have never seen profit. I bought on the last major dip at 86.45. One of the worst decisions I have ever made financially. Right next to DLTR
Wait a week into the shutdown and yolo tech stocks and use the DLTR calls for toilet paper.
What's the purpose? To have the best rate of return in the class over a 2 week period? And you get the highest grade if you get the best? What if you get the lowest, do you get the lowest grade? I don't think I'm following the logic of the professor here- investing is a long term game. I'd argue if you're looking to "win" the two week period, go with TQQQ which aims to give investors 3x return on the Nasdaq 100 (tech heavy). However, the 3x return also has a consequence if the index drops, so that's why I asked if the lowest return gets the lowest grade. Some other ideas for you to look into over the next few weeks: SBUX, CCI, CMG, DLTR
'Consumer spending is healthy'......*"wealthiest Americans are pulling this economy"* WTF? By going to DLTR & TGT? (LVMH YTD down)
Got assigned DLTR at $108. (the inner leg of an IC with 7 DTE which is stupid) the stock is at $98 and theres no way to sell covered call b/c there are no bids/volume near $108. Is there a strategy I can use?
DLTR or FIVE. With unemployment going up, they are about to skyrocket.
Bro are y'all super broke where you shop? DLTR, DG, or WMT? I know TGT got shot in the neck already but let's be real, they had it coming.
I bought DLTR today, how stupid am I?
I got DLTR 103 calls expiration 9/19 right before the market closed. Am i cooked chat??
time to sell everything and buy $DG and $DLTR and $WEN because thats how we live now
60 110c oct 17 @ $.95 DLTR. RSI at 25. poor people need food too.
If DLTR could drop a bit more by Friday I'd be really thankful
Literally Apple and Google vs the rest of my portfolio today... and those two aren't winning :( Will September be the slow bleed that I thought August would be? Also shoutout to DLTR for crushing earnings, raising outlook and getting punched in the dick anyway because they mentioned the words "tariff uncertainties" lmao
Fuck..fat fingered while closing my PCS on DLTR and lost my $50 profit 😥😪😓😭
Man I sure am glad I listened to the guy who told me to buy DLTR puts yesterday. Now where do I lose it all?
Puts AMZN, Calls DLTR so far
very sad I didn’t pull the trigger on DLTR puts
very glad I didn’t pull the trigger on DLTR calls
DLTR puts were free money
DLTR puts ez print
Short sale restriction on DLTR just to fuck my puts LMAO
Congrats to the dude that was shilling DLTR yesterday
Imaging keeping DLTR post-earning when you could have Google instead.
told you guys to buy DLTR puts but no one listens to a sleazebag
Today might be one of most stressful market days in a while for me, with my OTM DLTR puts getting close to being ITM. The whole market session will have me dance on the thin line between larping as Ephialtes (the putrid hunchback who betrayed Leonidas) and selling them for a profit, or wait longer and see whether the stock pulls a NEGG 2.0 and I can take several months of holiday from work.
DLTR puts printingggg let’s go
You plan your trades based on fundamentals, indicators and catalysts. I buy deep OTM Dollar Tree puts pre-earnings because the ticker DLTR sounds like TL;DR and I don't like it. We're not the same.
CPB, M, DLTR Puts!
DLTR is like like PLTR but not at all so puts
DLTR to 95, SPX to 6460, and GOOGL to 230 all at open. Thought I was a goner this week, now i’m a gooner.
DLTR will open at 103 or less
These DLTR puts gonna make or break me tomorrow
DLTR PUTs cus why not at this point
How.much do we think DLTR can realistically drop. Its up 23% on the 3 month but ive seen so many other tickers do funky stuff after earnings.
Well you all said the same about Kohls! look how that turned out. Going DLTR calls, macy puts
