It doesn't need to but the pinnacle of simulation is reproducing the real world as close as possible. The most popular games of all time (GTA, Red Dead Redemption...) are photorealistic games that mimic reality as much as possible for maximum immersion. Cloning reality is also the most useful. Robotics companies train their AI models in simulations that are as close to reality as possible. Self driving car companies do the same. Physics engines that reproduce real-world physics are also research targets. Just look at GDC and what papers that come out in the field. They're popular when they succeed in mimicking reality: water simulation, smoke, soft body physics... Another example is the metaverse. Facebook tried to make a duplicate of reality. Although it sucked. Fantasy simulation is for entertainment. Reality simulation is for immersion and utility. Consequently, if some civilization invests into creating the best simulation they can, I firmly believe that their efforts would go to mimic their reality as closely as possible, with some twists here and there.

I believe the upswing this week was due to the conferences (GDC and GTC, although I habe a feeling more the GTC than the GDC) coming up next week. When the conferences actually come uhh something will definitely happen, I say it goes sideways, upwards or downwards. Jokes aside, I feel when the conference is over (possibly already while it's still going next week) NVDA will start coming down again (might do a little push before if conference goes better than expected?). Probably the outlook of tariffs on April 2nd will make it come down the week before if it hasn't done so before. That's just my guess tho as someone with no experience, so take it as you will. Also orange man can always decide to post some weird shit that makes prices go bonkers in either way, so there's that.

I'm calling it now HOLO is going to go crazy. It has these weird pump and dumps whenever the meme's retract. Maybe this is one of the long positions that meme shorters take to stockpile ammunition. My guess that portfolio is made of HOLO, SMCI, GDC, MEGL, HDK. Most of their pumps correlate to a pull back on meme stocks.
No shit lol, but I wonder what the state of them even buying training chips is, if it's as large as the rest, are they using CUDA ML libraries etc etc. Any major AI player that isn't is handicapping themselves by not using the massive ML libraries already built out for CUDA, which is the actual thing that makes Nvidia so sticky for training hardware more so than the hardware itself. I thought it was interesting that after many years of not mentioning each other at all after the MacBook Pro GPU failure spat, Jen-Hsun all of a sudden mentioned Apple a few times in as many days starting with the Vision Pro at GDC. When John Ternus and Jony Srouji were asked about if they were buying Nvidia chips they just said we can't say. Funny because AAA is the most restrictive about AI usage according to a recent survey of 3000 Devs by the GDC, the biggest developer conference works wide just this month. Also this was said about every new helpful tech that eased workload in the last 30 years. The result? Higher ups saying "awesome we can now make double the content in the same development time!".
