Probably, there are a lot of different ways this could happen. I invested in COP right after they announced splitting off into 3 companies. We received shares of PSX as a dividend with a $0 cost basis. After holding onto that for a year, the share price of COP recovered to its initial level before the split and PSX eventually rose to the same level as COP. Essentially, it was a 100% gain in about a year, $3k became about $6k. I read an article that was comparing this move to Occidental Petroleum, which saw a huge gain in both companies with the result being the two having a much higher valuation than they did when they were one company. I am not sure what will happen here, whether both companies will boom or what. I do note that both may be eligible for listing on the S&P 500, so buying some puts on number 500 may be a good investment. After delisting, that stock will probably be oversold and available at a discount. Someone did a study on delisted S&P 500 stocks and found they typically beat the stock that replaced them. Additional things they could do is give people warrants, which are like a ultra long term call for shares in the new company. You may retain your old shares and suddenly get a warrant that allows you to buy a share of the new company for $10 a share when it is trading at $20. You can exercise the warrant and pay $10 a share for shares of the company, or you can hang onto them. If you look at HTZZW and compare it to HTZZ, you will see that they pretty much go dollar for dollar insync with each other. But, because HTZZW is trading at a lower dollar value, these price fluctuations make for greater losses or gains. Warrants are attractive to shortsellers as they are a lower cost alternative to buying shares to hedge a short position. So, you can get increased demand for them, driving their value up. Sometimes, shareholders will get a cash buyout, and will have to buy new shares of the spinoff on the open market if they want it, but most often it is shares of new companies. Investors in AT&T before the forced monopoly break up realized an incredible gain in the new companies. It was valued at 47.5B at the breakup and rose to more than 180B just a couple years ago. Investors got 1/10th of their share holdings in each of the spinoffs, so if you started with 100 shares, you got about 10 shares of each. Lot could happen, will have to wait for the SEC fillings to find out how this will be done.
It's also notable that shorts get greedy going after these companies, thinking they can crash them to zero and trigger full-on liquidation through bankruptcy. Mind you, it does happen. If you look at Burry's thesis on GME, it carries over to his investments in Tailored Brands (not sure if the bot will hit me for mentioning the ticker) and CLF. CLF paid off for him, but Tailored was frickin hammered into oblivion. (It's Qticker is something like 9 cents right now -- woof.) Arguably, HTZZ is the in between outcome. (I don't believe Burry had bet on it.) They restructured in bankruptcy and came back. But, the shorts also hammered them pretty hard. That was a fun roller coaster ride last year when they bobbed up and down from like $1 to $5. If you churn swing trades, Hertz was some fun.
It uplisted back to NASDAQ from otc today. SymbOL changed fron HTZZ to HTZ. Warrants were HTZZW are now HTZWW.
So is HTZ listing today? Anyone know if HTZZ shareholders will get paid out or converted 1:1?

Hertz had immersed from bankruptcy already and shareholders are holding HTZZ and HTZZW with very limited stocks based on federal bankruptcy rules. Many things are doing very well for the company. 1) The company is making a lot of money due to increased traveling. I paid $ 4,000 to rent a car for 10 days in Jackson Hole on vacation. 2) Hertz is making a lot of money in their used car sales as part of the restructuring agreement. 3) They are ordered and are receiving the first 10, 000 Tesla EV cars. HERTZ is undervalued at $ 35 today compared with AVIS at $ 297. AVIS went up to $545 a week ago. If you have travelled on business and vacation, HERTZ has a lot of upsides. HERTZ has the best airport locations and customer service, plus the new idea of renting a TESLA experience. Do your homework

Hertz (HTZZ) has commented, not about the contract exactly but to point out that they've already started receiving delivery and are renting them out.

Hilariously, TSLA went down on Musk's comments, but Hertz still went up again this morning and has been flat the rest of the day. There is little limit to market irrationality. Except HTZZ (Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty) is a public company with open books. If they made $4.8B in revenue this year, it'll have to be reported. There's no tax category for "um, found this behind the couch".

So I bought shares of HTZZ after the announcement was made. They're up about 16%.
CAR is the biggest short opportunity in the market right now. And HTZZ is still buyable. Likely will be purchased by Uber, relegating CAR to an also ran in the TSLA / robotaxi fleet management race.
Easy. 1) be $HTZZ CEO 2) buy tons OTM $TSLA calls 3) say off-handedly "We're buying 100,000 Teslas" 4) cash in calls 5) maybe buy 200,000 Teslas I'm actually more worried about Tesla's capacity to deliver those cars though

Hertz is already on the recovery side of bankruptcy. HTZZ is a new stock in the new company. It is simply being listed on NASDAQ now instead of over the counter.
HTZZW has been mispriced to HTZZ. Each warrant is an option to buy the stock for $13.80 by 2050. Subtracting $13.80 from the market price of HTZZ gives a value that is above the market value of HTZZW. Thus HTZZW is trading below its intrinsic worth. You could simply buy warrants, exercise them, and then sell the shares on the market for a profit. This is what happens when retail hears that Hertz is buying 100k Teslas, but doesn't know about the warrants. You get a spike in volume for the stock, but not the warrants. My 350 warrants are up 10% today, so maybe this has corrected, but this is not the first time an arbitrage was possible on this. There are probably other examples of warrants out there that are mispriced according to the value of the stock, but probably not as extreme an example.

I know I won’t be letting go of my HTZZ shares. Someone from my brokerages options trading desk called (for the first time ever) to try and borrow my shares. They seem like they may be desperate. May be a good squeeze tomorrow on earnings!!!!
I just went in 2,000 shares ($54k) on HTZZ (Hertz). This is too big of an opportunity to miss out on. The company is totally mis valued based on the revelation that they are aiming to become a huge robotaxi operator. I see this one going up 10x - 20x in 5 years' time. This will take a number of years to play out, but is worth holding.
Just a reminder that $HTZZ (Hertz) could be the next 10+ bagger. Lots of good forward looking things from this company.

It was HTZ, then it went bankrupt and got reset to HTZGQ. They restructured their debt and went public on the OTC markets again under HTZZ.

HTZZ is the better play right now. Much of the run up for CAR was based on the fact that HTZZ was in bankruptcy and as we are reopening, CAR (former No. 2 rental car company) was open for business. Heck, even Enterprise/National made inroads into the market. Well, HTZZ is back and they are in a much stronger financial position now. While it may take a year or two, HTZZ will regain their top spot because they are a loved by the business traveler. CAR is ready for a pullback and HTZZ is ready to take off.

HTZZ shed most of it’s debt in the BK, and was profitable last quarter minus one time restructuring charges. Should show a good profit this quarter to lead up to the NASDAQ relisting!!!
