The sole reason people are looking at Nike as "cheap" is because the price used to be higher. Yeah and it also used to dominate premium footwear market, and is now getting teabagged by Hoka and OC etc. Even in the consumer midrange footwear market they are losing ground to NB and others. Their clothing is mediocre and not really the "cool" brand any more. Their brand doesnt have the allure it used to and their margins and sales have been confirming that. Why would you want to buy a dying brand at PE of 30 on the hope that it will turn itself around? Lulu you might argue is also losing its allire but currently trading at a PE of 9 with 3x the margins and continued actual growth rather than declining sales like Nike lmfao. Much better argument for a value proposition there. "Stock price went down a lot therefore its a good deal" is not always the case. I think Nike stock is the absolute epitome of a value trap.

I’d like to push on this claim. If the goal is to get people to just skip the traffic, then sure, those that are flying can pay the premium to skip traffic. To get mass adoption, you need to bring the cost per trip down to entice people to replace those trips with their cars and have it be economically beneficial for them to have the right formula of cost versus time. Right now initial eVTOL projections are that it will be a similar cost as uberXL. I just did a check. I live in north Orange County and an Uber XL to LAX right now during the start of rush hour is $90. That is a pretty conservative estimate on prices for eVTOLs once general adoption hits unless Joby or Archer heavily subsidize to try and hit a critical mass. So when people have the option to drive their car or take an eVTOL I have doubts that people would chose an eVTOL as a regular way to commute at those costs. Beyond that, if the goal is to make a meaningful dent in traffic, at 4 passengers per flight and 2 flights per hour, you would need close to 3,000 aircraft aircraft flying concurrently in the Bay Area and close to double that in LA + OC to make even a 5% dent in traffic. Certifying one of these may eventually be completely possible. But a utopia of air taxis? There isn’t the airspace to get anywhere close and that is going to physically limit the ability of these to bring the cost down to your other comment that had a target of 30 cents per mile or something similar.

I brought up Buffet’s greatness because OC was lamenting buying BRK and it Buffett who was the CEO and the one directing BRK to be a net seller of holdings for 12 of the previous 13 quarters. If the greatest investor of all time was deeming this market expensive, and if BRK has traditionally outperformed in a bear market, then perhaps OC shouldn’t be concerned about short term fluctuations or underperformance in a bull market. I find people just bring up Abel arbitrarily to flex on those who may not follow BRK as closely. Yes Abel is the CEO but Buffet is still Chairman of the board, still goes to the office every day, still makes calls on trades, and is the one who chose his successor.
