Wow, the PRPL earnings are bad. Is a company *defaulting* on a loan based on not getting their loan servicer the correct paperwork a common occurrence? This seems like pretty dysfunctional management if we look at this as incompetence, and financial straits if they're delaying getting their loan servicer the accurate paperwork intentionally. Am I reading too much into this? The market clearly didn't like the earnings with -30% today so far.

The sub is made better by the fact for every success story there is an 1ronyman, a PRPL guy, “pls fly again” SPCE guy. There will always be people not mentally okay making idiotic financial choices. I suppose we should all be worried about ourselves but there is value to be learned from many of these legendary insane mistakes.

For example, PRPL was $30 a share when their warrants got called. PRPLW were 2:1 warrants, two PRPLW + $11.50 exercised for one PRPL share. So each PRPLW was worth about $8 each at the time. Purple offered .311 shares of PRPL for each PRPLW in October 2020. In February 2021, PRPL hit the all time high of $40 per share. So if someone had bought 1000 PRPLW for 30 cents in 2019, then exercised them, they would have spent $11.50 + 60 cents = $12.10 for one share of PRPL. That share would have been worth $40 in 2021. Or, it would be worth $2.98 today. So it would depend on when you bought, and when you sold ... as is so often the case. Personally haven't done any cash exercises, but have done several cashless exercises, and have come out ahead on those.

I had too much money in my RH account after the GME squeeze and was throwing large amounts of money on random plays. I impulsively bought around $250k of PRPL at the end of the trading day not knowing earning were after the bell and panic sold for around a 50k loss the next day.
