I personally don't think the metaverse is dead yet, but clearly MZ went way too fast hard with the FB transition. Every binary file have a magic word and it sure first few bytes in every file header. Exe have MZ, Zips have PK, Open the file in a hex editor (HxD) and picture the first few bytes. It also might encrypted or a snapshot of the block at a current time ( can be guessed by the date and the size of the file).

NFTs on Instagram are just another way of monetizing user traffic. People are spending less and less time in the real world, so it seems logical to support NFTs once more people are joining it. Of course, MZ is the worst person to be spearheading this move.
Everything MZ touches turns to shit, I imagine an IG NFT marketplace will be the same.
I don’t think he’s caught onto the idea that more and more people are recognizing that they themselves have been the product for the service he offers, and they simply don’t want to be a part of it anymore. The data mining/tracking/selling that he’s gotten away with over the years until recently has just been played out for far too long. People are tired of being the product for Facebook and anything MZ has his hand in. Despite being blatantly copied Facebook used to be a hell of a thing, but the hoops you have to jump through to ease the personal adverts and data mining has gotten ridiculous. It isn’t sustainable in my opinion. Facebook is a trash service.
Truth is, if Meta could have ushered in a good, practical use for the metaverse it would likely have lifted the whole scene. MZ may have even rehabilitated his public persona in the process. But... the market has spoken ;)

Even tho the rugpull of META from MZ is costing me some money, I do enjoy this rugpull above everything.
