To comment on the L2 scaling - you still need to pay gas when you move assets from L1 to L2 and vice versa. Also to start a process on L2 you need to pay gas fees. It might be a one time gas fee but it’s still there. Yea you are not paying gas fee 10 times with L2 but yug are still paying atleast 3 times. You can compare games like splinter-lands and another game like PMON built on ETH. The gas fees make a world of difference.

You should also pay attention to the non-echo chamber of the game communities before you get into them. I was just reading complaints about how PMON has pushed back their timeline for releases multiple times. I've joined a few discords for a few of these games and watched as every month the Devs come up with a new way to get people to pay more money to get early access to things that don't exist yet. There's a game that doesn't even have an alpha version, or anything to show about a game other than some art, and people are paying 5+ ETH to get "special ranks" in the discord. They have a leaderboard where you can earn "points" based on how much ETH you give the devs. The state of NFT games are *insane* right now, I wouldn't put a single dollar into anything that doesn't have a playable game.
