Crazy how fast block 839982 and 839983 passed. I wonder how often 2 consecutive blocks solve that quickly that often. Tin foil hat wondering if all the miners are going "FULL SPEED AHEAD" for the last of the 6 BTC before the halving and speeding up blocks in the process?

So I didn’t really do either, & still lost my a$$… So far…. Continued to buy on the way down to 16k, KNOWING it would recover. Albeit, significantly to enthusiastically. After buying hundreds of $$$ of BTC weekly. Found a platform that I could leverage (gamble) 50x +! Needless to say, I siphoned my cold wallet bare- bone dry, ultimately catching falling knives! Looked at my history over the last 3 years +\-. Lost 100k+ over the life of the account. Only made back 20% in the past month. GOD SPEED - If I need to tell my wife why I f-Ed up when I told her to shut up and trust me that BtC will recover, yet our account balance; contradicts the sum of all the debits she can easily calculate = to much less than invested - At minimum to this point! SMH…

I understand the arguments about circulation, though I am going to solely focus on the arguments for HODLing being okay or good. There are multiple reasons why it is better for most people to HODL Bitcoin indefinitely: * Scarcity * Bitcoin has an interesting paradox...it is one of the ONLY verifiable things with an assured constant in the world (other than time) of which there is a limited scarcity in a way. We all know there will be less than 21Million BTC total (yes, technically it can never actually reach the 21Million mark, it will stop just short of it). * So, because it is scarce, the more BTC that is off the market and not in circulation, the higher the value goes as demand increases. * HOWEVER, in some ways there is no such thing as Bitcoin scarcity. This is where it is a paradox. While it is limited on the upper end to almost 21 Million Bitcoin, and the current low end calculation stops at 8 decimal places with a "Satoshi" as the smallest unit of Bitcoin recorded on the blockchain, it is actually possible to extend this in a few different ways. * Bitcoin could potentially have a protocol update to allow for smaller units with more decimal places. This is unlikely to happen, though it is possible. It would just require that more than half the network agrees to a hard fork. Again, not likely, but certainly possible. It is not an option most of us would support though. If 1 Satoshi is worth too much, requiring lower amounts, then the best fix is actually the next option: * Using layer 2 protocols as off-chain solutions such as the lightning network to extend it. This is the most likely and almost guaranteed solution. * Either of the above 2 options mean that Bitcoin is actually INFINITELY divisible, and thus infinite in number in a way, while still being scare. A lot like time being both scarce and infinitely divisible at the same time. * The point is that even if BTC becomes more scarce due to people HODLing it, the price goes up. There will always be people using and exchanging it for daily needs through the lightning network too, but HODLing doesn't really impact this significantly. If more people suddenly want to start circulating Bitcoin, there is still an infinite amount available to do so which can be infinitely divisible. Most people HODLing doesn't really negatively impact anyone because it drives up demand and price by sort of acting like deflation. The truth is that while some people will always circulate their BTC, most people will never NEED to sell most their BTC. Even the ones who stick to BTC for most of all their financial stuff, if they get desperate for money, they can often just borrow against it, wait a while for the deflationary effects and increased demand to take place, and then when it's worth significantly more than they borrowed against it, they can use that increase to pay off most of what they borrowed. This is complex financial maneuvering involving trading other assets, etc...but in theory, possible to never sell off your BTC, and yet not negatively impact the circulation needs since it is infinitely recursive. HODLing is not only fine for Bitcoin, it's GOOD in a lot of ways. Increased circulation will happen organically as layer 2 adoption improves, education continues to spread, and FIAT continues to inflate and collapse. It's basically inevitable for Bitcoin to become widely adopted and become the thing that all other assets and services are priced against. That point is still going to take some years, and truthfully, we should all WANT it to happen gradually. If everyone magically adopted Bitcoin tomorrow, there would chaos and total devastating economic collapse from the destabilization. Nobody sane wants that. We want Bitcoin to take over and make things MORE stable. That means relatively gradual adoption until it has consolidated and consumed everything it can, starting with the monetary/financial systems, though it has a lot more potential beyond being money. There is amazing potential involving energy, security, and basically ANYTHING the shitcoins or contracts want to do, proof of anything, censorship protection, the possibilities are almost infinite with layer 2. I think most people are way underestimating Bitcoin as simply a money replacement with a market cap max of money and investments...it is going to inevitably consume a lot more industries than that, including things we haven't even dreamed up yet. Summary: HODLing hurts no-one. It's infinitely scalable, and as layer 2 and education and demand increase, so will daily use. It's progressing at a reasonable rate. BTC is still basically a toddler right now. ​ Could we SPEED up ADOPTION if everyone constantly circulated everything as much as possible? To some degree, yes. I think the biggest hindrances to date though have been ease of use. Layer 2 is just starting to fix that, as are many others who have been dedicated to making it easy to use lightning. It was nearly unreasonable to expect widespread adoption before that. A lot more can still be done, but even though you're not seeing it reflected in the price immediately, things are growing exponentially recently. More social media is going to support it and demand will go up too. Don't blame HODLing when a lot of the problem was difficulty and affordability. It's getting there and it's going faster than most people think as far as most technology adoption curves go. It's actually going pretty fast. It can be hard to see that as an early adoptor sometimes.

Really? Even after the fallout the chain is heavily being developped on. Already has very respectable dapps running on it and certainly has something to offer for dapp builders: SPEED AND LOW COST. Reliability has been an issue but I bet you never heard of QUIC and FIREDANCER as probable solutions being worked on right now. Show me a chain which had the user/transaction growth of SOL without hicking up. Its entirely possible you find zero to none. Just use it, you will see why people other than moon farmers will keep using it.
