When? Nobody knows. What will happen? A crash to behold. Why crash? Some think this will cause a panic rush to dump Tether into BTC or other coins causing a massive SPIKE in other crypto, but ignores the elephant in the room. BTC is at the price point it's at because of buying pressure and selling pressure, just like stonks. Imagine BTC won't go below $60k because there's a ton of buy orders that will gladly snatch up any $59k BTC, so it bounces off that number. Now imagine a vast majority of those buy orders are in USDT trading pairs, and with the snap of Thanos' fingers, the USDT vanishes. Now you have a few buy orders remaining at $59k, a couple at $58k, more at $57k, and a ton at $56k. What used to be an impenetrable wall at $59k is now smoke and mirrors and BTC busts through, crashing to $49k, panic sells and stop losses kick in, this thing keeps going down until peoples' unexpected buy orders start kicking in and folks want to "buy the bottom." So, just like that, Tether imploding causes mass sell off since Tether trading pairs no longer exist.

You would have to eliminate demand to "kill" bitcoin, but you can't because absolute scarcity will *always be valuable*. The black market would thrive. And other friendly jurisdictions would benefit. I don't agree with your thesis about bitcoin *needing to become a currency* when it's already won as a SOV. Bitcoin doesn't need to be a currency. It also doesn't need wall street. Institutions *speed up* the price appreciation due to the sheer volume of money. But individuals, even operating in a black market, can hold the line. And as long as Bitcoin remains *absolutely scarce*, it's value will go up. Coins will be lost. New apps, use cases, and layers will continue to evolve. And it's supply will never be breeched. A ban from the U.S. gov would hurt demand *temporarily*, in *ONE* geographic location. However demand at the individual level would persist and I'd even wager a price SPIKE once the world saw BTC take a knife to the gut from the most powerful nation on earth........*and keep crawling*.

It's all these crypto YouTubers who post every 12 hours . I don't even watch them anymore because it's so cringe "BULL RUN INCOMING" next day "ARE WE ENTERING A BEAR MARKET" day after "BITCOIN SPIKE IS GOING TO RUN HUGE" . A lot of talk with no actual proof
To be honest, after looking at a graph showing the short interest SPIKE like absolute crazy immediately before the last tank, it pretty clearly IS massive market manipulation. But ya know….thats all part of the game. Most of the detailed explanations are poor substitutes for ‘stonks go down’ but I think its foolish to think in a still immature and relatively illiquid market, big players arent making short term plays off dump/short schemes. The maths can add up at certain times, and theres no laws against it, so why the fuck wouldnt you?
Anyone else read these posts and see someone go "HOLY SHIT LOOK AT [INSERT CRYPTO] SPIKE" or whatever and you go check and it's up 0.7%. Or is just cuz I'm in the degen space and shit goes up 4000%.... so I'm desensitized to micro movements now
