That's why some traders prefer deep in-the-money LEAP calls instead of buying shares outright. The appeal is getting exposure to a potential long-term recovery while committing less capital upfront. And since LEAPS have a longer expiration date, there's more time for a bullish thesis to play out compared to short-dated options. Of course, no strategy is perfect. If the market continues lower, both shares and LEAPS can lose value. But for investors who believe the Nasdaq will be significantly higher over the next couple of years, it's an approach worth understanding. Before making any decision, it's helpful to run different scenarios and see how volatility can affect leveraged ETFs over time. You can use the Leveraged ETF Decay Calculator to test TQQQ, UPRO, SOXL, and other leveraged ETFs under different market conditions and see how the numbers change. I don't understand the hatred for gold. Even the dude that discovered the Bitcoin Power Law agrees that a 75/25 BTC/Gold portfolio is the absolute best position one can hold long term. And I don't think I can disagree with that, either. My HSA is set up that way, and I'm thinking of doing the same with my IRA (DCA into an ETF of each asset). Actual Bitcoin, though, is the majority of my portfolio, along with ~1% into some 3x ETFs (TQQQ, UPRO, SOXL, MIDU, TNA).
I invested well in UPRO. Not as big of a gain, but a good move nonetheless.
I’d recommend splitting between crypto and good index funds like TQQQ and UPRO. These are 3x leveraged the underlying, QQQ and SPY respectively. Much higher risk but at 17 you can handle the roller coaster and move into less risky investments as you get older.
~40% Crypto (39.5% BTC), ~45% in etfs (VOO, QQQ, UPRO, BITU), ~15% in individual stock (AAPL, TSLA, FITB, DVN, NEE and a few others)
This is the way. I run my own agency, and thus I am able to write off plenty of expenses + travel. The rest of the money goes into stacking and ETFs, and occasionally TQQQ or UPRO when the market is in max fear mode.
Beautiful asset. I'll dive more in to it. I had been looking for something like UPRO for a few years now so thanks a lot!
Rebalance into UPRO, 3x levered S&P 500. Since 2018, quarterly rebalanced equal weight UPRO/BTC portfolio has outperformed BTC by \~50%, UPRO by \~100%, and S&P 500 by \~150%. [See here.](https://www.portfoliovisualizer.com/backtest-portfolio?s=y&sl=2Twwe5DRlFAf5qVhofvCNx)
Wow... No one is asking Vanguard to offer an ETF... Vanguard offers a brokerage service for buying and selling generic stocks incl. ETFs from other companies. I can butly AAPL, TSLA, and SPCE, DWAC, GME, etc. on Vanguard. But they went out of their way to make sure you can't buy IBIT or UPRO.
Somewhat? Most of my wealth is denominated in Bitcoin; however, I still have a Boglehead type of portfolio in my Roth IRA and 401k (VTI/VXUS/BND + TQQQ/UPRO). I'm not going to say no to having some wealth in tax-advantaged accounts. I've also bought some individual stocks e.g., SoFi, COIN, and AMD in the past.
