Until you realize top PoS validators are often American based companies and a lot of dev team, including VB, refuse to punish validators for doing censorship. The industry has shaped the space as a viable “speculative” investment first over utility and crypto principles. Can’t beg for big institutional money to make things moons without silently complying to regulation to not get the said institutions into trouble.

Unfortunately it's not fake. Context does help some, but this is still a very very bad argument to make. The context is that at the time there was a big debate on what would happen if someone put undesirable images on the Blockchain. Anyone who hosted a node would then have possession of those images. That's his argument. Running a node and having possession shouldn't be a crime. Nothing else. If you try to open it, view it, distribute that piece intentionally sure, crime. But possession not so much. It's a bad argument. Especially because a nodes do transfer data between each other and could be assisting in distribution unknowingly or knowingly. VB made a poor choice making his stand on that issue. But it's worth knowing the context.

VB was definitely pro BTC. When they started EF it was BTC backed in their reserves. He wanted a decentralized platform to build upon. Thus the Ethereum platform for Dapps was founded. Listen/read Proof of Stake and you can learn his early thoughts, concepts, and evolutionary ideals to moving towards a decentralized marketplace

BTC transaction fees are chosen by the sender and are measured in sat/VB. You can chose a higher fee if you want priority in the miner pool or a lower fee if the transaction isn't urgent and you are happy to wait. The fees vary based on how busy the mempool is and transactions are picked by the miners so obviously the higher fee transactions are more profitable for the miners and given a higher priority in the block. If you go to a mempool explorer like https://mempool.space that will show you in real time the going fee rates.

When VB says he sends a test tran before making a real transfer, that is an issue. If we can create a level of confidence you are interacting with the right entity, that would help. But, that requires some naming capabilities. I think also the concepts around protecting your seed phrase are intimidating. There's always discussion about how people got scammed or hacked or not sure what happened. People trying to protect holdings on a cold wallet and afraid to connect or interact with things.

i think it will be a coin called FROMVITALIK. its a meme token with interesting tokenomics the dev made it so all the tokens when bought pass through vitaliks personal wallet because of a loophole in the code. Could be really big if it catches on and address the problem of stealth addresses which VB himself has talked about in a janurary blogpost. the MC is tiny and the project is only a few months old FULL DISCLOSURE i own some of this token

I mean Vitalik is a little freak who started Ethereum cause he was mad about his warlock in WoW getting nerfed to oblivion. But Ethereum as a project is a pretty incredible thing. Could easily see VB shifting his attention away from Ethereum after POS transition in order to assist with already scaled and better scaling solutions that currently exist. Don't think he could ever completely let it go, nor would I ever expect him to willingly, but he's probably smart enough to see the walls of the structure he's built and understand the potential of stepping outside where things may be a bit less constructed.
