How about 10-20% in international funds like VTSAX? Slowly investing in gold might not be a bad idea either considering who is in office. I like IAUM, and FGDL as gold ETFs.
FWIW I just started but my most consistent winner this year has been ICLN, a global clean energy ETF. Not huge wins, but it's not as tied to US markets as the big ETFs. So it gives my portfolio both an ethical basis for investing and diversification. It's actually mitigated some short term losses. I also dumped IVV at just the right time (mostly dumb luck but I did stick my thumb in the wind on Monday and I didn't like what I felt) and moved into FGDL (responsibly sourced gold) to get a commodities position, which I think will be important as USD slides over the next ~year.
FGDL, up 31% since November.
Look for GOLD ETFs like $FGDL, $BAR, $SGOL and $IAUM
What i am watching Gold stocks: AGI, KGC, FGDL and GOEX
UDN is basically equivalent to holding foreign currency, but yeah, I'd go for BNDX (foreign bonds) if you want something longer term/to avoid inflation. If you want foreign stocks, VXUS or DFAI are nice, but those are fairly correlated to US stocks and are not exactly safe if the US goes south. GLD and FGDL are good too. Gold is a tad bit overvalued, though. In my case, I'm balancing a carefully tuned mix of long/short positions in stocks, real estate etfs, and crypto that should gain value while being market neutral, i.e. have near zero correlation to the market. But that takes a bit of work to get right.
I hold FGDL. Any difference from AAAU?
FGDL is an ETF that is as close to physical as you can get.
An FD ETF, the ticker better be FGDL.
