Actually at 75% to 25% you have a 3:1 ratio of FOO to BAR - meaning that either BAR did a 3x or FOO lost 66% value. You get more count of tokens that are worth less. Now if BAR was 3x and you got half the count of tokens back, that makes it a 1.5x in cash terms. Gold’s value is not mostly derived from its industrial applications. It behaves more as a store of value. Gold does well during periods of real negative interest rates (interest rate is less than rate of inflation). Purists insist on physical metals. I’ve seen no issues with gold ETFs such as GLD, IAU, BAR etc. I would not be eager to test the waters with a gold pegged crypto but I hope they succeed.
