bought GFL at $15 and am still holding to this day
GFL , it’s a waste management company.

Midwest, lets ride! GFL west coast.
GFL , there still needs garbage to be disposed of
Dude, yes the market is fucked for the next 6 months. It will go down another 10%. Maybe more? Buy stock that is not influenced by tariffs like WM, or GFL.
GFL, garbage is the future. It produces natural gas…and is the next gold mine. We will mine landfills, for the precious metals we threw away
GFL Trash stock (literally) with earnings Monday after close followed by investor event Tuesday.
And here’s your contrarian indicator to avoid $GFL “This Garbage Stock Isn’t Garbage. Why It’s Time to Buy GFL Now” —Barron’s https://www.barrons.com/articles/buy-gfl-environmental-stock-price-pick-c6734e38?st=Z3Yj2k
Yeah, I work at a large waste firm in the US and the waste industry outperforms the market all day long, because its revenue is driven by consumption and their rate increases far outpace inflation. Then you add a mid size company into the mix that has far more run way and way less limitations on M&A activity and you got yourself a winner. The price dropped after they announced the sell off of their environmental services division, but I honestly think that was good news. 1. Focus on your core business and acquire municipal waste companies, it’s what you’re good at and it’s what drives the top line 2. Now you’re significantly liquid allowing you to pay down higher interest debt and put your foot down on municipal waste m&a 3. They have the ability to buy back in 5 years. If this total waste services model becomes the standard (which I don’t think it will) then they’re right back in the game when they want to be. I like GFL, it’s the least sexy of my 6, but it’s a good horse. Not advice, just my opinion.
I only know GFL and in my city, they are everywhere. It's going to rival with WCN IMO.
RKLB and LUNR are up nearly 100% since I got in. GFL and HYSF have been sideways more or less, and I just made those AI picks at the bottom of the deepseek news, so no news to report there.
GFL is another waste hauler stock. Price already retested all time highs. Consolidation now before it breaks out.
Why AMAZING? A little better than VOO, but WM hasn't significantly outperformed an s&p 500 fund. Though GFL better than WM in terms of stock price growth. Dividend is paltry though. Why wouldn't you have gone with something like CAT which has had even better growth and much better dividend?
I hate dealing with GFL with a passion. Every interaction I’ve had with that company has left a sour taste in my mouth so I refuse to touch their stock.
All the garbage stocks are amazing. . . Progressive, GFL too
News is reporting two shootings at the residences of two GFL executives. Lol, waste management.
GFL, we will mine waste management sites in the future
Doubtful. 90% odds for GFL
From MS? Skype, which is now needless bloat defaulting in the OS. And while Teams didn't originate from Skype, they push one in the same, and they definitely have unneeded integration bloat in office products like outlook, including "disabling slow addons" IE, the integrations I'm actually using, so they can make room to stuff in addons for teams I don't need. Outside MS? GFL. Came right in, bought up every competing trash service in town, then doubled everyone's rates while service suffered so bad it made news station headlines. Should have been a fish in the barrel case for anti-competitive merger. Crickets from our attorney general, who would rather focus on shutting down head shops in a state that legalized weed.
Love that half this sub is going long Tesla with the logic that "if all the other rats are jumping out of the sinking ship, it just means it's full of cheese!" Institutional money is pulling out aside from Cathie. GFL
They also halted Cybertruck deliveries. GFL bulls
I like garbage stocks like WM and GFL they have endless versatility!
In no particular order... Cost, FICO, Moody's, SMP global, chipotle, AJG, vistra, constellation software, constellation energy, equitable bank, ACN, GFL / WM, Amazon, google, apple, Microsoft, topicus, tfi international, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, train technologies, Equifax, nu bank, Lululemon, ASML, Cintas, Roper technologies, Brookfield corp/asset management, American tower, home depot, Vanguard, Intuit, Autodesk, crowd strike, paloalto, CN Rail, CP rail, brk-b, and Goldman sacks / Charles Schwab.
Longs on LDOS, MOD, GFL.TO and BRC All of which I opened recently and am only up a bit. I'd be happy to be talked into selling any of them if they are garboo In terms of plays this week I just wish I had the stones to go short NVDA in a real money account.
GFL, garbage is the future. The next mine of plastic and discarded metals
I agree, although growth algorithm for waste will be lower over time as industry continues to consolidate and pricing pressure due to competition from other large peers like RSG/WCN/GFL/casella, and lower returns. Nothing wrong with a capital returns story since the business generates so much free cash but I do wonder sometimes if it’s worth the opportunity cost of greater upside in other names
American output in shale oil climbed pretty dramatically in 2023. I think there is a possibility of OPEC wars on shale like we saw in 2014. It doesn't make me that bullish on oil in the near future. Anyways, I initiated a position in CFLT yesterday after CRM AND SNOW earnings. Bought some CP rail and cad bonds after selling more of my cad index yesterday. Bought some GFL today. I think I'm going to be late in adding to my US bank holdings. KRE looks tempting to buy but I don't want to chase and feels like I'm gonna watch it get away from me.
GFL, land fills are the next mineral mines of the future. It's a long play
GFL looks like a good hold as well. Lots of growth in the Midwest currently.
This is not uncommon! You need to know and understand the rules of the game. Maybe be a little mor attentive next time? Or ? GFL!
GFL garbage is the new gold of the 22 century
Waste management income scales well a with growing population trend, and people will put up with small inflationary increases yearly, if nothing else * $WM is the resilient big gorilla * $GFL if want more newer and more nimble, and dramatic year-to-date momentum
GFL, garbage is the future! Future mining for renewables, production of natural gas, and sanitation!
5th chart. Unless we open above 228ish potential to downside to 161. GFL https://www.reddit.com/r/TradingToCompound/comments/119z7mc/tsla/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Depending on what yield, risk, and your current portfolio. One I didn’t see mentioned was SQM. This or ALB could be great if EVs truly end up being as big as people think. I also hold a small amount of GFL because I feel like I missed the Waste Management run up and I hope this could do the same.
Do some research on GFL Environmental ($GFL) message me if you develop a theory.
I held on to Waste Management for 11 years. Just sold a few months ago. I bought into GFL, I expect to hold for another 10 years. I anticipate we will mine landfills in the future.
GFL, waste management is the future
I’d argue both housing and employment. People are stuck where they are. If you need someone in X city, GFL. Unfortunately, 1/3-1/2 of employees will still need to be in specific cities for one reason or another.
I’ve been investing into my Roth for a couple years and wanted to know if I should be allocating money into different indexes, or at least different proportions. Currently I am… 35% VOO, 20% SCHD, 20% AVUV, 20% AVES, 5% GFL.
They bought a lot of Waste Management routes. Then raised the rates. WM balance sheet looks great due to these sales, but GFL is now in debt, but good debt
You forgot to use your 20% off coupon. Just bring your receipt and coupon back to the store and they should adjust it. GFL
Lol with what profits? These companies are reeling from a supply glut, and you wanna unionize now? What are they gonna negotiate, better employee discounts on the grass they’re selling? GFL
Can I get a quick criticism of my savings holdings? I am 27, maxing out my retirement. 35% VOO, 20% AVUV, 15% AVES, 15% SCHD, 10% KMI, 5% GFL
Holy cannolis! Ppl still on GME? Last price I saw was like 170, 35 now? GFL
GFL bought out 2 companies in our area in the last 6 months. I used to work for Waste Management and that company is run so poorly
GFL, everyone makes waste, and waste management will be the new gold mine of the future
Gets spooked in the stock market. Thinks they can handle real estate. GFL
GFL is a trash company, pun intended. We have to use them for private hauling for our rental properties and they operate like the mob. Skipped pickups, impossible to cancel account, non existent customer service. Fuck that company.
GFL can go fuck itself. They breached their own contract with my company to abruptly cancel service without notice, and then charged us for removing the containers. They gave us the wrong kind of container (front load), for which their trucks would not fit in the alley. Instead of owning up to the mistake or giving us the correct container, they just canceled our service and left us without dumpsters, incurring a $650 expense for short term rental from WM. Maybe the local management is a fluke, but if that kind of poor communication and mismanagement are tolerated, they will not continue to do well.
Can second this. GFL has been an anchor of my portfolio since I started investing a year ago, great company and growing fast
What’s your take on GFL? They’re an upcoming waste service and they’ve been popping up all over my state. Lots are replacing Waste Management receptacles.
WM and WCN is good, but for anyone who wanted trash company with more growth potential, look at GFL.
Democrats will lose the house, the senate, and the presidency with the disgracefully shitty job they've done. GFL
Sold $MDB and $S for break even. Added to $GFL and initiated a small position in $SHOP. Still holding onto my cash- if this is a bear market can go on for another 6 months.
The good ol' classic pump the rumor, sell the nuke Dem monkeys dont know whats gonna hit em 💀 And if you are taking the risk, GFL
Not sure if 6 rate hikes would do the trick even. The reality is that inflation is currently a fully loaded train at full speed heading for a station and the fed is trying to apply the hand operated breaks to stop it. GFL. No way it’ll work. So much liquidity in the system, so little productive assets to chase.
Nice to see that collecting recycled plastic is profitable again. The winners will be the garbage collector such as WMI and GFL.
I'd sell a lot of that. BB, LSPD, HEXO, etc. Not familiar with some of the companies, but it's all very speculative bets on tiny companies with little or no track record, or companies (BB) that have a long track record that isn't great. I'd consider something like this (not recommending these names necessarily, just giving you sort of ideas as to the kinds of names) 45-50% high quality, "built to last" compounders and some value - Nike, Hilton, Waste Management (or Canada has GFL, apparently), Couche-Tard (again, trying to throw some Canadian in there.) 45-50% high quality growth - Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, Intutive Surgical, LVMH, Thermo Fisher, ASML, Nvidia, etc. 0-10% speculative bets - stuff like cannabis (although personally, I like MSOs better than growers but even those bets were disappointing last year to the point where I wish I'd spent that money on actual weed). I think the concern is that having a portfolio really that's entirely this is not sustainable; it may seem that way when times are good but the moment times aren't, what's happening now happens and these sorts of things get obliterated. Sorry to hear that things haven't gone well; don't be discouraged. Investing is really a lifelong learning experience and you're going to have situations like this. You have to dust yourself off, plan, regroup and get back at it.
everything you wrote is just fucking too stupid to bother responding to. both are doomed companies that will be out of business in the next ten years. GFL.
I agree that they make a good case and they are smart pple and your opinion is well consolidated. But nevertheless as long as SEC doesn't say otherwise, with a clear target - social media groups- it is a matter of debate. I've seen no "short sell house" prosecuted for some really lame reports. I don't complain - it gave a very good entry point for really good stocks (like ENPH, GFL) but I notice that the investors selling at half the price should consider this game highly illegal. IMHO short sellers are a having a risky job, they use every leverage they can get so cornering them on one or multiple stocks is part of that game. Kudos
I sell my dogs / bag holds typically around December 1 to harvest tax losses. I rebuy those same stocks if I am still believing they will increase in value after the wash sale period has ended (31 days). You don’t actually have to send the IRS a check until April, so it’s kind of like using margin from January - April but GFL
I used to work for a property management company. We spent a lot of time cancelling our WM contracts because they use more predatory practices and are a pain to work with. I think Eventually people will catch on. I'd go with a different trash company. I went with GFL for a higher risk/reward trash company.
i would prefer GFL (more upside), but maybe wait until they correct (hopefully)
GFL A very unsexy play in waste removal. I used to manage the waste removal for a development company. WM has the largest market cap but has some predatory practices and is shitty to to with. I know a lot of people/companies moving away from them. I think GFL will be able to steal some market share over the next 5 years. They have also made some recent big acquisitions that will begin to synergize.
Or if you constantly target Canadian stocks like Spruce point capital does. They did the same thing with Canadian Tire, Dollorama, GFL environment. These canadian companies are not regulated by the SEC, but Canadian authorities which have little take on US based hedge funds..
Great work OP! Got it, long $WM and $GFL. Any listed companies make the recliner chair with toilet in it?
Convenience stores are becoming oligopolistic with the largest consolidator being Couche Tard (Canadian and publicly traded). Trash also. The industry is undergoing aggressive consolidation. $WCN $GFL $WM School bus manufacturing is an oligopoly. Bluebird. $BLBD Body care. $BBWI. All the other players are either owned by $LVMH or are private. Keeping an eye on all of these areas currently.
GFL, 20% of my portfolio. Garbage is the new goldmine of the future!
I'm buying 150 shares of GFL environmental because I like the game Girls Frontline which is abbreviated to GFL.
Hello, if anybody could help me, I have a notable question. I’ve met this girl on a dating website, I’m from the USA, she loves in Hong Kong, she speaks very little english, but she writes english a decent amount with the help of a translator. She had told me that she was looking for a guide while in the U.S. because she is not from the area, that she was here on business, I told her that there are guides for hire in areas, and asked her what she does for business. She proceeded to tell me that she invests, and has a team of professionals, and wanted to teach me. So she told me to download the MetaTrader5 app, and had me start off with 100,000 fake money just to play around with and learn the software which she had sent me a powerpoint to help learn. Then after I was done learning, she started making calls to show me what she does, so she’d tell me specific times and say like “buy 35 shares, at 10:45.” So I did, and sold when she said to sell, and she made multiple calls like this and each time I listened to her I profited. The most noticeable gain that she had called was $19,000(with 35 shares of Gold VS USD) Note that she only works in that stock, and she had me make an account under her business that she associates with “GFL” or “GFL Capital Limited “ and told me it wouldn’t effect me because it’s a demo account. I’ve asked her how she is able to make calls like these and make the money so easily, and she said she has a team of professionals that helps her. She has been telling me that I should save up $2,000 then make a real account, and start investing with real money, and she will call all my shots. The GFL website where she said to make the real account asks for a bit of personal information, and I don’t know if it’s safe. My question to this subreddit is if there is any way she could be a scammer, or trying to trick me in any way.
Top 5: * FB (TAM expansion, valuation play) * GFL (Leveraged roll-up, defensible end market, valuation play) * MSFT (Office is the best business ever, might be overvalued) * KMX (IMO best positioned to consolidate the market) * FAF (Valuation + Housing play, priced like an insurer, but should be priced like a professional services company)
