I used westpac when I was in AU and have never had a problem with them and crypto. This is a one sided story direct from the customer. You all really need to learn some critical thinking skills and objectivity. The reasons banks do this is because of *the government*. It's not the bank's choice, they are obligated to ask these questions and "protect you" when possible. Crypto is full of fucking scams, and their understanding is only as good as the person you're talking to, who is just an employee - they obviously need better training, but that's what this is. This customer rep is bad, but so was the user because he blames the rep for having to justify his own use of money to them, when really he's having to justify it to the government.

Come on Australia fuck off the shit over priced bitcoin and crypto ATMs.. like is it the same in USA? It costs about 20-25% on-top of what the coin costs to buy via an ATM? So if you buy 1 BTC for value of (Eg) $150K AUD you get the 1BTC and pay the 23% I found at a local one.. that’s like $30k- 35k on top.. Buy 0.1 BTC costs $15k AU same on top will be $3k-3.5k in the trade invoice. I mean they have to make money but man that’s lots of money. Avoid ATMs folks. I wouldn’t even trust them ..

For practical info, like "how to do X..." look up the blogs of companies that make money doing the "X" that you want to learn about. I call these shovel companies, because they don't make money on crypto, but on the financial services around crypto ("we sell shovels, not gold") therefore they're typically unbiased about token choice and won't shill you something you aren't looking for. No, that’s not the point. The point is measuring BTC against fiat is backwards — fiat is continuously debased by governments and so it’s actually the value of fiat that is falling against BTC in a BTC/USD measurement, not the other way around. Gold cannot be debased and so BTC/AU is an actual apples-to-apples value comparison.

Is there really a difference in a token for investing and a store of value? That's pretty much exactly what I meant too. And yes, it's pretty unreasonable to expect it to 10x in a couple years. AU especially since it's just as fundamental of a resource to technology and the future as anything else at the moment. There's gold in pretty much everything and it's an actual limited resource. BTC is limited until you realize that any other crypto can take its place because it's not a tangible thing. If BTC just vanished overnight ETH would take over as the leading cryptocurrency. If gold vanishes overnight the world falls apart.

Okubo Heavy Industries is proud to introduce its latest product - the Standard Stellar Proximity Detector. This small form device gives a visual indication whenever you are within around 1 astronomical unit of a G-Class stellar body. No batteries included or required! This device is powered by a non localized fusion reactor. N.B. This device has been thoroughly tested at around 1 AU from a g class star. It is estimated that it should work at up to 2 or 3 AU but has not yet been tested in these conditions. Detection of other Star classes may be possible but again, this has not yet been tested. Of course, distance measurements will need to be calibrated accordingly. A large mass, such as a planet, moon or large asteroid may cause a false negative reading if located directly between the operator and the stellar object. False positive readings can be caused by powerful artificial photon generators such as incandescent light bulbs, LEDs or flashlights. Okubo Heavy Industries is confident that the robust design and conveniently small form factor will make this the device of choice for field operators with accurate and timely stellar proximity detection requirements.

Find a cryptoexchange that operates in Canada, do KYC, load in money and buy crypto Then find a cryptoexchange that operates in Finland, do KYC, send crypto from Canadian exchange to our account in this one and withdraw to your Finnish bank account. Just send $100 Then you'll know exact amount of fees you need to pay. It's probably worth it, but really depends For example in Australia local exchanges charge you 1% fee on converting fiat money to crypto. There used to be Binance AU which was doing it for free, but fucking Au regulators blocked it.

Best course of action is to stick with the main 2 players, BTC & ETH, and DCA an amount you’re willing to never see again over a certain period of time, like a few weeks or months.

not exactly..and yes, Bitcoin mining can use 'a lot' of energy compared to certain other industries. but not knowing the facts around this and also the nuances leads to major misconceptions most people will never bother correcting regarding their own knowledge base. which is why those attracted to headlines only vs. a willingness to read about &/or listen to the details makes it easy for the naysayers to mislead - and there's no need to fall for it. and a few facts include that Bitcoin is responsible for apprx. 0.2% of all energy produced around the world & apprx. 0.6% of all energy consumed. now, if you haven't yet heard, traditional fiat [central banking currency aka 'the Petro dollar'] is responsible for a he11 of a lot more energy consumption than that. and this is also very true about the oil industry alone as well as the military industrial complex. and with just that short list to start with it doesn't require a rocket scientist's mind to figure out which other industries also consume a lot more energy than Bitcoin mining [cough!, like gold,cough!]..such as the products delivery supply chain system, etc. if you care about knowing actual facts watch this video - and don't skip around, otherwise you'll miss a lot: [Bitcoin’s Biggest LIE EXPOSED](https://youtu.be/Hqa17FK0ses?si=4RmyWXO3UoueX0b-) [They're LYING To You About Bitcoin] (https://youtu.be/PZwvgCtJx1k?si=jDHDe3ezcGPHn0AU) so not only is it about misconceptions it's also about the intention of naysayers [the one's in the know] to distract and obfuscate the actual & most offending industries.

All the kids know about it. My daughter has three or four emerald pendants. > “Elon saw them (the emeralds) at our house. He knew I was selling them.” > To prove his point, Errol provided pics of some of the bright green precious gemstones, which he says came from the mine. > He explained that it is in the Lake Tanganyika region of Zambia, the second biggest emerald-producing country in the world after Colombia. He even mentions why Elon doesn’t want to seem like things were given to him (they were) > Explaining why he thinks that Elon has pushed back on the emerald mine story, Errol said: “Elon’s main concern is not to appear to be a ‘trust fund kid’ who got everything given to him on a plate. Again… his dad gave him everything to get started > Errol said: “During that time, I managed to send money I’d made from emerald sales to him and Kimbal for living expenses.” > “I managed to send them about R400,000 (then around AU$171,000) in total. > “It helped them with rent and food. Kimbal told me that they could never have survived without the money.” So again… you’re wrong. His own dad is calling him a liar.

What? Australia has one of the greediest and most rotten banking cultures in the developed world, to the point that the government literally opened an entire [commission](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Commission_into_Misconduct_in_the_Banking,_Superannuation_and_Financial_Services_Industry) to investigate it. >financial institutions were involved in [money laundering](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_laundering) for drug syndicates, turned a blind eye to terrorism financing, and ignored statutory reporting responsibilities and impropriety in foreign exchange trading. They've also been robbing Australians blind with AU and NZ (who's largest banks are Australian) having some of the highest household debt to income ratios in the world. These chickens *will* come home to roost.

I can provide a bit more insight. Some banks in Australia are only for walk-in customers with home loan specialists or to deposit cheques. They don't actually have tellers working in them to deposit or withdraw cash. As absurd as this sounds, it has nothing to do with solvency. They made AU$7.4bln profit last year.

This is the truth, crypto shills can mental gymnastics all they want about their $100 of deposit being a huge blow to banks (lmao) but end of the day, dealing with scam victims is a far larger thorn up financial institution's asses than LoSiNg DePosIts. If someone gets phished and have their entire bank account wiped, this figure usually goes up to the tens of thousands. AFCA is very consumer-centric and would likely deem the bank to reimburse these victims fully, despite the victim clicking on links, providing OTPs, downloading malwares, etc. Banks care much more about NOT reimbursing these kinds of dumbasses much more than how much profit they can earn from your measly deposits. If you are moving your funds out because of these security measures, they are more than happy for you to do so because you immediately shift that risk out of themselves. I work with regulators on a daily basis, not just AU/NZ ones, and it's always hilarious how cryptobros think everything banks do are trying to go against them instead of protecting that 70yo retiree's nest egg.

I found a watch face for Garmin that shows BTC price as one of the fields (not widget). But it drains the battery life faster than other watch faces, and I haven't been able to figure out how to get the weather field to update. Does anyone have any recommendations? As far as I know this is the first one I have ever found that has this. When you first install it, you need to give it 15mins to update the price. In the settings, you need to select BTC as a field. I also added an event countdown for the halvening as an extra bonus. Link on Connect IQ - https://apps.garmin.com/en-AU/apps/06b6b828-46b1-4730-acb2-8d3cf8833bb4

You are mixing two things. You are mixing how things should be, and there I rather agree with you, and how things actually are, and there you are wrong. In UK, when you sell, CGT applies. And yes, perhaps in some countries (I doubt UK, but who knows), maybe at some point in the future, someone changes the law and it will be more like it should be. But currently, it's not. These things take years, if not decades. Politicians are useless slow parasites and I would not put any hope into any one of them. Maybe, just maybe, in Argentina or El Salvador, maybe. But UK, US, CA, EU, AU? I would not hold my breath.

While I agree that BTC is more sophisticated and advanced than AU Gold, which is after all an Element, Bitcoin only holds its value just so long as the electricity flows, I know we cannot imagine a world where the power stations become useless, and we can no longer turn on our devices and lights, but one major solar storm, or a global war, or the NetZero types have their way and electricity becomes scarce, or rationed, or is gone...where is BTC then? Gold at ;east is tangible and is not subject to being switched off? Food for thought.

The issue is not BTC going to $1M. The issue is the USD going to 0.01 cents. Think about it. Most Bitcoin is being HODLed. Sure, there will be a bunch of new millionaires, but that wealth tends not to go anywhere . . . after all, why else would you swap your *other* assets (RE, Stocks, AU etc.) for BTC. The real issue is the geometric\* growth of US (and JP, GB, etc.) debt, All of these run away uncontrollably given enough time. How much time is enough? My best guess is sometime around 2040 . . . which isn't *that* far away. \*Geomentric is not exponential - two *completely* different power series. I hate it when people use "exponential" without the faintest clue as to what it actually means.

Processing payments of AU$10,000 or more means it has to be reported to AUSTRAC, which I guess is a bit more of a headache for banks. Bear in mind too though that repeated transfers below the threshold, especially in a short time, can be interpreted as structuring which is a criminal offence as well. [https://www.austrac.gov.au/business/core-guidance/reporting/transactions-10000-or-more-ttrs/reporting-structuring](https://www.austrac.gov.au/business/core-guidance/reporting/transactions-10000-or-more-ttrs/reporting-structuring) If you open an account with any Aus bank and the first activity is to attempt to send more than $10,000 somewhere, you're gonna have a bad time. If you need to deposit significantly more than that to an exchange you're probably best to reach out to the exchange before-hand to ask about the best way to proceed.

To avoid the foreign transaction fee, you need to use an exchange that can on-ramp AUD directly and is integrated with AU payment network. I use Kraken. On-ramp is just Osko transfer no fees. Be sure you are using a bank that is friendly to this sort of transfers. If you want to avoid the currently high BTC withdrawal fee, withdraw via Lightning to Strike and then withdrawal from Strike to your hardware wallet at the free slow speed.
