They are all. Including bitcoin. Behind their all time high, inflation adjusted. Even at Bitcoins recent nominal all time high. It’s still behind its inflation adjusted all time high back in 2020-2021. Use shadow stats inflation data vs the CP LIE and you’ll see even further distortions. Furthermore posts like these are exhausting. Bitcoin will never replace all the metals no matter what it goes to because industrial demand will always exist, there are investors in metals who will never buy bitcoin, if bitcoin becomes stable (which it needs to in order to gain more adoption) most of the investors will leave because the yolo fast money BS will be gone. Finally, if the on and off ramps are banned because it becomes too competitive 90% of the bitcoin holders won’t know what to do. Also, now that it’s in the derivatives market with etf’s, enjoy the price manipulation metals holders have been dealing with for years. Bitcoin as a derivative means no more supply cap. Just like 200x the existing volume of gold is traded daily. Same with BTC. 🤫🤫🤫🤫✌🏻

You could think about it like messaging apps. If you send a SMS companies and government can I intercept it, store it, search for keywords in it and read it. If you send it through an app like Signal it's encrypted and no one can read it unless you mess up. Some countries ban this because bad guys could use it but in reality you will just get mass surveillance and very little safety benefits. You can make transactions without your name being attached to them, the transactions you make cannot be linked back to you at all, your balance is private. Even if you bought something on Amazon for example with a privacy coin once and you added your name and address Amazon still couldn't link it to your wallet or any other transactions you've made. Once your name is connected to your regular wallet with KYC, social media, your friends, data leak(that happen all the time btw)... anyone can see every transaction you have ever made with a normal blockchain (BTC, ADA, SOL...). Imagine if Visa, Paypal or your local bank made every transaction you have made and your bank balance public and easy to lookup. If your name is linked once then everything is public. Some dangers with this are that you publicly display your wealth which can make you an easy target for criminals. With your transactions public you can also be held accountable for any 'suspicious' transactions you have made. Maybe you made a donation to someone that's considered bad 10 years later, maybe you purchased something embarrassing that could impact your career if your future employer background checks you (like old tweets)... The arguments against would be that it can be used to fund whoever you want without consequences. While you could fund an upcoming movement to make X country more free and abolish the current oppressive government you could also just fund terrorists, buy drugs or access CP. The reality is that people just use cash for this but after it gets taken out privacy coins might be the best alternative.

Electronic filing is by far easier, and I am similar in that my tax forms are typically \~200 pages. However, I was told that paper filing allows you the space to an add additional letter for review. From what I understand the other benefit is that the IRS computer(s) won't automatically flag and issue a CP2000 form if going with paper filing because it has to be reviewed by a person. If paper filing, the IRS also recommended sending it via certified mail as proof of submission date, and to avoid electronically filing a second form or amending anything before the first form has been processed. I was also told not to attach details like statements, trade records, etc... they would ask for them if needed. This year I am inclined to use a combo of crypto tax software and turbotax to calculate everything, then print the .pdf forms that are generated. It sucks, but prefer not to have to deal with unnecessary auditing hoops if possible.

>is it as decentralised as ETH? I would not even call ETH decentralized to be honest. The Token is well distributed but in terms of political governance.. it’s not. >all validators are the same sub entities' which I believe isn't correct, you even stated after an 80% figure but it's an assumption not a fact. I agree it was bad, and completely took out of my ass. However, I don’t think I’m far from the truth. Listen, if there is no place to have a Solana public governance (like I shown you the recent Octobre post to propose to start governance). If this place wasn’t exiting, where do you think all small validators were casting their votes and participating into governance? No where, it didn’t existed. The absence of things to show is a proof by itself in this case. SOLANA Fondation is not displaying the current % they truly owned in the validators set. Why showing you’re centralized af ? As I said, the minimum requirement to run a SOL nodes is way higher that most other L1 in the top 20. We never ever heard any discussion and debate on Solona governance, not once, because this is not how it works. Solana fondation has devs, they push updates, fondation validates or not, and Validators vote accordingly. Not here to shill my shit, but for exemple, every chains build on the Cosmos SDK, come defacto with a gouvernance module that allow them to have in day 1 a place to cast votes, submit proposals.. etc so they create right away a forum and synch the two. It’s way better approach that waiting to be top4 and 80% of the token are already in the end of the same person to initiate it imo. As I said, it takes years to decentralized a very centralized validators set. For exemple this is exemple of on-chain proposals parameters that have been pushed or are currently push on ATOM to improve decentralization: incentives to stake on-chain and votes: -cosmos stackers take the part of the rewards of the person who don’t stake. - no airdrops for the one stacking on a CEX val and on the 20 first Val - quadratic voting and quadratic voting, to decrease voting power proportionally more you have ATOM, to make small delegators more impactful. - creation of DAOs and Sub DAOs. - creation of a community pool, so the users feel actually concerned about the vote and how the CP funds are spent. - money? On analysis and research to apply best practices. Time, as it takes many years to educate delegators to track validators bad/good behavior, redelegating - dozens and dozens of on-chain small change parameters to governance itself, like adjusting fees to vote, rewards to vote (ION DAO), how it cost to submit a proposal, to avoid spam proposals, period of voting, which quorum to choose? 30% 40%? 50%? Ideally you want a high quorum but it takes lots of effort to motivate to the community.

Not arguing against KYC for this, but mostly that a reputation system in itself already covers most of this. Keep in mind you can already look up someones identity based on their licence plate so a car someone is driving is already “KYC” (as long as they’re not running fake plates of course) About the example of tracking everyones internet data to protect against CP: This is a thing that they’re now actively trying to roll out in europe. The problem with this stuff is that if you’re rolling out mass surveillance system for something that seems like a good cause, that same mass surveillance is bound to be abused by a current or future government for something else. Scary stuff. That’s what i mean by that there actually is a thing as being too protective. Because those exact things can end up being a bad thing in the end.

And the second half of your comment is just completely untrue. There’s always going to be people committing crimes or being dicks, you can put up all the types of controls you want but in the end that just ends up in a distopian hellscape. Or are you one of those people who’s in favor of all those types of laws that allow screening of all internet connections of anyone to somehow prevent CP.

Now that reddit have announced that Community Points have monetary value and Kraken have listed bricks & moons, isn't it time to say goodbye to the Karma Multiplier? After all, us posters are basically like miners for Moons and Bricks. Imagine you're mining Bitcoin and your mining power went down to 10% just because you sold your Bitcoin... That would be pretty bad, right? I don't get why posters aren't allowed to trade their Community Points however they like. The only good thing about the KM is that it might prevent people from selling their CP right after distribution and thus tanking the price... But I don't think that warrants a reduction to 1/10th as that is just way too much. What do you guys think?

I find the CP more worrying than the hacking part tbh. One is a monetary loss, the other can ruin the entire life, it’s not the simple fact they have been abused, the material is likely also going to spread across the darknet if it hasn’t already.. They should definitely make a kind of universal law world wide that punishes stuff like this with at least 20 years to life in prison. Sick individuals.

Copy-pasting my commentary about your comment from EthTrader: In the era of automation, there's a lot of talk about instituting a Universal Basic Income (UBI) to let people reap the benefits of labor-free production. But I believe Ethereum-based tokenization offers a better way to let people earn without working. This is just one of many comments on CryptoCurrency that gives a window into how one day we might eventually earn a living just by sharing thoughts. It's pretty cool that someone can now make money from freely participating in discussions, all without a central authority coercing the population to collect tax revenue with which to pay out a UBI. And this has a profitable business model underlying it for sustainability. Shout-out to DONUT supporters for making the Reddit Community Points Prototype a success and proving this concept! And kudos to MOON and BRICK adopters for carrying the baton and being the first Reddit users to join Reddit's official CP program.

Well this is a pretty good idea that I keep mentioning, Moon has so many possibilities as an official RCP but maybe just because they are official RCP it doesn't work. RCA x RCP is just a must have… The ConeHeads has his own (R)CP, it has become the practice to earn points to buy avatars. Is perhaps not an official RCP but it works similarly, is on Polygon and you can since a good time buy / sell avatars with it.

> Also, Tether is 65% backed by commercial papers and we don't get to see the quality of them. It could be mostly junk or even commercial papers in Bitfinex and we will never know. Tether's commercial paper position is now zero. They rotated out of it last year. So whatever it was was good enough to be paid in full. Also they showed the credit ratings of the CP portfolio with nearly all of it rated A-2 and A-1 (investment grade). I don't think Bitfinex issues commercial paper.

Personally I don't think that Tor nodes are a super close analogy, since they don't host any of the data, they just relay it just like any other router on the internet. The closest analogy I can think of would be seeding a torrent that contains CP, and I really wouldn't want to be the person who gets caught doing that, even if I demonstrably didn't know there was CP in it. If you are running a mining node for a chain with CP ordinals on it, you are for all intents and purposes running a webserver that hosts unencrypted CP for everyone to see. Part of a blockchain or not, at the end of the day it's still your computer publicly hosting and distributing that data. While you might not instantly get charged for that, you can definitely expect an official takedown request the moment anyone notices, something that you will be unable to comply with except for either taking down the node, or the entire chain getting hard forked.

While intentions do matter, they don't matter exclusively. In the case of someone putting CP on the chain using some super secret personal protocol, you'd probably be safe from possession and distribution charges due to the fact that neither you nor anyone else can actually access the data. Meanwhile, if the data is encoded in a common protocol you might be safe from possession charges if you never decoded the data yourself, but you might still catch distribution charges because you're still publicly hosting CP on the internet that everyone else can take a look at with a common protocol. Unwitting distribution of CP is still distribution of CP.

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

That's not how that works ffs. Sure, you could absolutely create a decoding protocol that turns an arbitrary string of data on your computer into CP, but in that case the actual data containing the porn would be entered during the creation of the protocol, not from from your pc. There absolutely is a difference between problematic data encoded with a preexisting protocol saved on you hard drive, and data that can be decoded into problematic data with a not yet existing protocol specifically designed to turn that data into problematic data and to pretend there isn't is just purposefully playing dumb.

Mentions:#CP

The thing is tho, those are just links. Legally not CP bc it doesn’t contain the actual illegal data. An ordinal would, making possessing the blockchain a felony.

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

lets see if that works on the FBI. "my harddrive got CP on it, but I pinky promise I never looked at it"

Mentions:#CP

but if using a camera to record CP makes it so that the video can be accessed by any other camera, if the user goes looking, with no way to remove it, would make owning one of these cameras problematic, wouldn't it?

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

How would that be done though? You can't really filter what's already on-chain without creating a fork. Nodes wouldn't even know what's actually CP until they inspect the inscription, thus making filtering possible future CP inscriptions difficult.

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

I honestly don't see a resolution if people are posting actual CP on a chain that is immutable. Decentralization is good, but someone always has to come along and ruin it.

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

legally, that is a very different situation. The links are not a felony to possess, the actual CP behind them is.

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

I know. but legally, links to cp aren't considered CP because the data isn't actually stored on the blockchain. With an ordinal, the actual illegal data is on the blockchain thus making possessing the blockchain a felony.

Mentions:#CP

Regardless, I'm very sure there's NFTs on Ethereum that points directly to ipfs CP and also data that is inscribed on the Ethereum chain itself. Nothing has happened there so I don't see bitcoin being any different. What the solution is if governments do decide to do anything about it, I don't really know. It's not like it's easily accessible without a website, so it's probably easier to just take down the websites displaying the data from the blockchain than it is to stop people uploading it to bitcoin

The front end website has to block it. There is an old website from years ago that hosted images published to Bitcoin. Some CP was posted to it. They just removed. Whenever more CP is posted, anyone can report to have it removed.

The model here though is that each ordinal is like that person’s website. You only should look at it if you trust the wallet address. This is already extremely important advice without executable code because some ordinals are on the blockchain that have CP.

Mentions:#CP
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

NFTs are typically stored on IPFS with a link stored on the blockchain, it’s what makes them such a joke. Eventually they’ll be 404s. Something else to consider, if someone does post CP to the blockchain and you run a full node the authorities are with in their rights to arrest you for possession and distribution of child porn. Something to keep in mind.

>The sheer amount of "commercial paper" they have held in the past as a proportion of their funding (which, let's be real, could easily be their own exchange and companies like Celsius and 3Arrows) is very scary. The line item of concern for Celsius, 3Arrows, et al is "Secured Loans". In fact, Tether [loaned Celsius $840M](https://www.axios.com/2022/07/08/tether-liquidated-celsius-loan-1-billion) (also reported as $900M or $1B) which was over-collateralized by Bitcoin. This loan's collateral was later liquidated when Celsius went down. Lots of people were concerned about commercial paper when they had it, but as long as the paper was A-1+ or A-1 grade, it seemed to me like a good thing for Tether holders to have as backing. It was never substantiated that the CP investment was Chinese junk bonds. It was later revealed that Tether banks with Cantor Fitzgerald, so it's clear to see who their CP broker would be. >There is no reason for them to hold any of this shit, the money should be in high interest savings accounts In the sense of, "Tether said 1 USDT = 1 USD in a bank", I agree with you completely. In the sense of, "Tether and the crypto space struggle to maintain banking relationships; banks can fail, so the USD deposits need to be spread out to diversify risk", I can totally understand why Tether has moved into T bills, reverse repos, money market funds, certificates of deposit, etc. Ideally, they would have introduced another product with this spelled out transparently. "1 new USDT = 1 USD cash or cash equivalent"

Don;t get nasty when you get corrected or dont know what youre talking about, and Bitcoin Core =/= Bitcoin lol, touch nodes. Running Ord on a Bitcoin node isn't quite as easy as you make it out to be "uploading jpeg or upload json", but I can do all of those things you list and also utilize the power of Ordinal theory to tokenize and track those assets to any bitcoin address, even those without taproot. The features in Bitcoin Ordinals were even present in one of the oldest versions of Bitcoin, but Satoshi had called these functions "Bitcoin Atoms" and the feature was removed in subsequent versions. You dont want to address the fact that Satoshi did this first and it's explicitly approved behavior on the chain if for no other reason than because Satoshi did it first. Learn yourself. Again, so happy to work on science and history projects to preserve history's oldest and most valuable artifacts on the bitcoin blockchain, in case they are destroyed by time or by error or are otherwise changed or adulterated. As far as life goals, using data science to preserve images so that they can be passed forward thru time without the worry of censorship or editing is something I am proud of. You wont be surprised to hear that I was the only dev in support of 668 when it happened, not that I support the uploader or original image maker, but that image does indeed have historical significance, I dont enjoy "shock images" but the early history of the internet reveals that people did indeed send one another "shock images" as a prank. Maybe you're too young to know this, but everybody on the early net saw goatse and even sometimes tubgirl or "wall of pain". They dont deserve a seat of prominence in history, but they are a part of the internet's early history whether you like it or not. Ridicule will not dissuade archivists from storing and passing down history, even the gross and shocking parts of history. In fact, we are incentivized to store images like the one in Inscription 668 even more exactly because people like you freak out and try to change the historical record to "sanitize" it. Good luck being a bitcoin minimalist, not everybody wants to follow in Satoshi's footsteps. I feel blessed I can both make money and do important work contributing to the historical record by empowering the people to put the images that THEY want to see onto their money, instead of some picture of a real butthole, the government. Eventually, one of us is going to be proven very wrong, hope your CP-alarmist fork works out dude, but unfortunately I wont be using it.
