I'll continue selling on eBay but I'm not sure if I want to hop in. eBay has also started doing multiple live auctions similar to what WhatNot is/was doing. I've seen them pop up a few times in my notifications. I'm not as knowledgeable about trading cards as I used to be (but thanks to whoever recently paid me $899 to own tcgsource dot com). I was talking to a friend who also sells on eBay and we were discussing PSA getting into card sales themselves (conflict of interest much?) as well as people buying boxes of cards and paying other people to open the packs while they watch on video...this seems crazy and you need to get off my lawn. But if this is a thing and eBay continues to be a viable marketplace for these things then there does seem to be a lot of potential. As someone who has been selling on eBay since 1999 and has over 39k feedback, I've experienced a lot of bullshit and incompetence, they aren't nearly as badly run as Amazon but they are close. So for that reason, I think I am too jaded to invest unless there's a big dip for a bad reason.

There is also divergence patterns on bond ETFs as of yesterday in $SHV short treasury bond ETF. The same patterns found in PSA and CASH (short term savings). It was reported in the BoA FMS October survey that fund managers hold historic levels of low cash, approx ~3.4%. If cash levels are low for fund managers, there is no cushion to absorb forced liquidity needs! any moderate drawdown and or vol spikes could trigger system wide front end selling. I scrolled back years on the SHV ticker and couldn't find examples where the short treasury bond ETFs are diverging in price momentum and price volume trend. A can of macro worms under the surface. If fund managers need money, smart money would be selling liquid assets early before anyone notices. That’s already been happening.

In CAPEX cycles investors expect to see CAPEX spend, they don't get spooked until they don't see revenue on end users. That means the CAPEX party is over, and the "does this make fucking money" party begins. If you want to ber, start trying to work out when this transition is going to be happening, CAPEX cycles fuel themselves. CAPEX cycle is strong right now, they never are rational, stop trying to understand it and start trying to work out when end-user-revenue is going to take the limelight.

Just to add 0.02 of grounding, the PSA portion has been rife with problems. It had a wonderful honeymoon period of maybe 4-6 months and I did a good amount of business (maybe 250 cards?) through my local store (notably a good experience from it having a A+ manager spearheading it when it was still in early pilot mode - that manager has since quit). At first, it was so good that I went from not grading with PSA to the above activity. Something like 17.00/per (vs 25.00 non member), no minimum quantity (normally 25+), no membership with PSA required (125.00), and turn around were like twice as fast at about 1 month. Now, all of those things have slid into almost no benefits over just going direct to PSA. Costs are up, discounts are gone, turnarounds are (not GS fault) 3x as long due to overall demand, and in my case losing the POC manager means I'm starting from scratch with the high risk random employee that was just trained on how to even submit and handle the cards, in the best case. You can walk in now and pay I think 25/per+5 or 10 shipping for a card. You could also just ship to PSA directly and pay about the same, but with better peace of mind, imo. That's the PSA project, at least, and I think some of that is coming from PSA passing on higher costs/not sweetening the deal with discounts or incentives at all anymore. I wouldn't recommend it personally, and don't plan on submitting anymore through GS.

I initially brought into GME for the squeeze. But over the years the company has changed, it's barely a video game brick and mortar store now. I won't go into the financials cause that's pretty easy for people to look at themselves and I advise you do, but they've been constantly improving the balance sheet for the last 4 years. Some of the big changes that have happened recently: \- PSA partnership, Gamestop has made the whole ordeal of grading grades simpler and cheaper than what it used to be from my understanding, before the deal to grade a card it cost $20 for 1 card to get graded and you had to pay delivery fees as well. Now its $20 for 3 cards and delivery fee included. \- Gamestop now stock Lego, sounds weak but Legos are huge these days and Gamestop stocking lego is just another thing that will bring more people in the door. \- On OCT 3, All shareholders will 1 warrant for every 10 shares they own. These have the strike price of $32 and expire OCT 2026. If it reaches that it'll be another huge injection of cash into the reserves. If you have any questions feel free to ask but please be aware, I'm only trying to give some information on where the company currently stands and have no interest in arguing, some of this information could be slightly wrong but in general this is what's been happening recently. I understand peoples viewpoint on Gamestop, I'm happy with my investment, so please just try be respectful if you have a different opinion.

You pretty much nailed it. A few years ago I had some extra cash laying around and bought a bunch of pokemon cards and found a rare one that I had no use for. Wound up selling it for a nice chunk of change and made a small hobby out of the gambling for rare cards and selling them. Eventually stopeed because it got incredibly tedious trying to get them PSA graded, competing with others on ebay and people constantly lowballing. The arcade is genius because it took all the non-fun stuff out of the equation

This is the last I’ll say considering you are just ignoring every other point I say except the grading part. So their retail sales aren’t high margin but they’re buying cards for 30-50%? That seems like pretty high margin. Margins are slim to nothing but for it being new and making up 10% of PSA grading is significant. Slim to nothing but it’s still adding. You’re basically saying why would anyone use DoorDash when you can get the food yourself? By using GameStop you’re eliminating all risk of your package being lost. With psa you have to wait until it arrives before it isn’t a risk to you anymore. You’ve got tunnel vision. You’re stuck for whatever reason in the card grading. Think bigger than that. You’re stuck on current but this is just the start. They’ve done 2 deals with PSA this year. What makes you think this is it? What if they started a peer to peer system where PSA stored cards in their vault and GameStop took a smaller % than eBay. Lots of other peer to peer at lower rates? How is that possible GameStop doesn’t even offer peer to peer transactions? They’re breaking into a 500 bil industry. That’s huge.

They cannot beat PSA’s margins… they feed off of PSA. They don’t really make money on getting cards graded, and retail sales are not high margin either. They had increased hardware sales because new systems came out, and increased collector traffic is equivalent to COVID surge. They make money by buying graded cards at 30-50% of whatever the current proxy value is then mark it at that price for sale with small discounts. That’s where the margin comes from. But again… a lot of other ways like local comic shops and such to sell cards while retaining more value. Like yes GameStop sent roughly 2 million cards (10% of 20 million PSA did), but their margin on that is slim to nothing, and it’s the ones that get solid back that offer a chance at creating value So, it’s currently setup to be useful to low card number graders and quick sells for less. There’s already lots of peer to peer systems at way lower rates. GameStop does carry a lot of sentimental value and in a low rate environment can buy a lot, but it’s not likely to become a moon shot again, even in the future. Short sellers are well aware now of the tactic… and there are wealthier companies. It has potential, but potential is not fundamental economics. Did I put some side money in it to support the cause, yes… am I putting substantial sums in it over VOO or Nvidia or many others…. No

Yea of course they are. GameStop doesn’t currently offer peer to peer transactions. What if they do? PSA moves from using eBay mainly to GameStop. Their partnership is new and growing. You’re really missing the point. You’re talking about current I’m talking about the future. This is still all new to them and they’re slowly expanding. What’s stopping them from becoming a peer to peer transaction site? I wouldn’t be surprised if GameStop doesn’t try to acquire Collectors. Considering they’ve hired m&a backgrounded people. PSA isn’t what grew in value Collectors is. The company that owns them. Again who’s better to work on this than the CEO of PSAs parent company collectors? He’s on the board and has been of gme since they really broke into cards. Cards aren’t just the end either there’s many more collectibles out there.

GameStop basically just uses the shippers insurance for in transit… I’m talking about selling cards there, which savvy consumers are already figuring out that grading faster and in bulk via PSA direct and then selling fast near the release dates to GameStop and even at less than peak value (cards shoot up at release; though long term hold is generally better)… creates a buyback at cheaper prices 6 months ish down the line. Because their algorithm for tracking prices is very simplistic like a pawn shop. I’m not saying it to rip off… it’s just context sensitive. Even PSA and GameStop, use EBay sales as proxies for price ranges. GameStop is niche to me then, but it’s bitcoin holding and cash reserves could change that. But either way… PSA is in the power position, and will likely go public like in 6 months maybe a year max. Cause they bought for 890 million ish about 4.5 years ago, and now its valuation is around $4 billion… if rates go down cause of 915k jobs over reporting, then yeah I see them going public to become cash flush and go on a buying sphere like all wealthy do when the dollar is weak…

I’m really curious where you’re getting they’re only offering 30-50%. From the power packs they’re offering way higher. GameStop is taking more responsibility. What happens if you ship your card to psa and it gets lost in transit? Yea that’s on you that’s not insured. Whats stopping PSA from turning from eBay to gamestop? Their partnership is growing. If those margins were so bad I highly doubt Nat would be on board and working with them. If you don’t like the GameStop offer that’s fine. You can then list it and they’ll get the fee eBay offers. What I’m mainly saying is what’s stopping GameStop from becoming the industry owning platform that everyone uses to trade to each other while GameStop gets the fee on top? I’d have to look into it more but I’m pretty busy the next few days. The main thing is it’s way safer to send through GameStop than PSA. You eliminate half of your risk because it’s now insured from the time it goes to GameStop to psa and back instead of just the shipment back. What in house lottery system?

Yes, for small scale that want hassle free, sending 12 cards max through GameStop a year is about it. They do charge $1 more and $2 more per cards than bulk membership at PSA and shipping is no longer free for Pro members now $4.99. So, that offsets the $5 monthly rewards. Rewards are a wash with proper credit card… That’s a very small percentage of PSA grading needs. They are trying to run a in house lottery system for small scale users. But… it’s the 30%-50% instant cash offer that kills it… PSA vault will display and sell it for you on EBay for 7-16% based on value of the sale. You can set the sale value or auction. They also insure it and ship it to the buyer.
