I started investing in HON DRIP in the late 1990s after a work colleague talked incessantly about them. Initially $100/month then switched to $500/quater and occasionally added some bonus dollars. I stopped contributing about 4 years ago. Today, it is by far my largest individual holding nearing 7 figures. I only sold once - 100 shares to redo our kitchen in 2021. I would add extra dollars back in the day and sold their spin-off ASIX, REZI and GTX and reinvested back into HON.

Ahh, this question lies near the intersection of things I know about. First, you want to ask yourself whether you want to invest in a manufacturer, distributor, or someone who does both. My pick of manufacturer is REZI (I like their 5 year plan, but anticipate lower share prices in 6 months). They inherited all of Honeywell's residential HVAC and security when they were spun off in 2018. They recently bought First Alert. Nobody knows who they are (as evidenced by me coming to a 22 hour old thread and not seeing them here yet). Of distributors, I like FERG. They have their hands in HVAC to plumbing from residential scale to big boy industrial and waterworks scale.
Typically HON does spin-offs / mergers that are very friendly to existing shareholders - just looks at ASIX, REZI and GTX spin-off; however GTX did not work out well. I just do not see a SPAC deal occurring.

I will need to look at the investor presentation on this one, but with the years of experience of Honeywell control technology - I find it hard that a start can compete, especially with Google NEST also in the market space.
