Mining stocks as a 10-bagger? The contrarian setup is real, but the execution in this post is sloppy. Yes, miners are trading at “left for dead” valuations despite strong gold and copper prices, and yes, history shows they outperform during inflationary spikes and tech downturns. But GDXJ is a dumpster fire of cash-burning dilution machines. Most of these companies will never produce an ounce of gold, let alone generate free cash flow. If you want real upside, you need companies that can survive and thrive at today’s prices—not just in a speculative mania. That means targeting low-cost, high-margin gold producers like Agnico Eagle (AEM), B2Gold (BTG), and Kinross (KGC), all of which are already profitable with strong balance sheets and low AISC. If you’re looking for 10-baggers, forget ETFs—focus on single-asset, high-grade juniors with clear paths to production and limited dilution. And if you’re serious about commodities, you can’t stop at gold—copper and lithium need to be part of the equation. Electrification is the defining macro trend of the next decade, and demand for these metals is far outpacing supply. Copper is an existential bottleneck for the energy transition, and the best-positioned producers—First Quantum (FM.TO) and Freeport-McMoRan (FCX)—run massive, cost-efficient mines that will print cash at current prices. Lithium, meanwhile, is a looming supply crisis. Sigma Lithium (SGML) has the lowest-cost hard rock operation on the planet (~$500/ton LCE) with zero net debt, while Albemarle (ALB) generates billions in free cash flow and has a conservative 1.2x net debt/EBITDA. These aren’t speculation plays—these are capital-efficient, fundamentally strong companies that will benefit regardless of whether we get a speculative mining bubble. The key is balance sheet strength and cost efficiency. Agnico Eagle’s AISC is just ~$1,239/oz with net debt under $217M. B2Gold runs at sub-$1,100/oz AISC with a net cash position and a 6% dividend. The past few months June, July, August no one hardly ever considered investing in them. So much fear, so many articles why lithium is a bad buy. All of the sudden because of some lithium deals people want to get into the sector, lithium stocks are rising, people discuss them, making posts. Although they are down if you zoom out, the entire sector in its current form is greedy and saturated If you'd ask me, now is a bad time to buy into lithium. 3-5 months ago i would have commented "go for it" the probability to gain percentages vs the the risk to loose money is on the gain side. SGML is a not well known company with promising performance. Safe to say next earnings is estimated +35%.

I was going to ask about RIVN and VW and how you think this will impact the next quarter for lithium stocks in general. Lithium stocks like PLL, ALB, SGML, etc are undervalued and with the joint venture of RIVN and VW and the presidential election, do you think there will be a huge rebound in 2024 or its more a wait and see?

various penny stocks, like lithium miners on the ASX for example. Type in google PDN ASX, LTR ASX, LKE ASX etc. or Sigma Lithium (SGML). there wasn't a lot of volume though when they were at their low and there was danger of either diluting into oblivion or bad news which would probably bankrupt the company (see LKE ASX).
SGML has a Market Cap of ~2 billion currently. Their 2023 revenue was 181 million, which when you consider their 92 million cost of revenue and 113 million operating expenses, means they lost money doing it. Good news is they're taking on debt to expand with so they can, uh, lose more money doing higher volume? Knock a billion off that price and I'm still not buying.

All in on SGML, like a true sigma
SGML continuing its trend upward. An 11%+ day isn't going to get me to the black but it feels like things are definitely turning around.
I thought the same for a stock I bought on a whim, $SGML, and it's been going down for a year straight, usually 5% each day and a random day it goes up 10% and the cycle repeats all week. The amount I invested is negligible so I didn't care much but I did invest it thinking I was buying into a low and it was only recently I realised I'd have made bank with puts on this over the year. It's being shorted to hell so the returns are low but it's been going down so consistently and for so long I just feel kinda stupid not doing this sooner.
A nearly 9% up day for SGML makes me happy. Just need another... uh... 10 of those in a row. Yeah.

Last summer I would've suggested Sigma Lithium (SGML) but management turned out to be something of a joke. If you just want exposure to the sector I don't see how Albemarle (ALB) would do you wrong.
I've been keeping an eye on SGML as a value investment. New company, just had their first operational quarter and it was profitable. Definitely undervalued. It is a bit risky, their stock shot up and tanked within a year but this happened across the board with lithium. And that's the thing with lithium. Yes it's in demand and yes demand will increase but it's prone to bubbles because every other year people think will be the year it's gonna blow up. Last year everyone was all in on EV companies and lithium and they all went up and then back down as demand was ultimately just not that high, and price of lithium went down, and China was, as always, a paper tiger.

SGML The price was climbing in 2022 in sympathy with rumors that Tesla was going to buy it. Since early 2023, it’s been tumbling; almost halving from low 40 to mid 20’s, due to factors in the lithium market, but what also seems to be in sympathy with a divorce between the founders who were married. They have a decent operation, and considered undervalued. It’s possible they may still get bought up by a tech company. Likely a a buy by a big tech company as soon as the price drops a little more. They’ve all been eyeballing it, and divorces can be messy. It’s a good buy below $30. It may go even lower. If it does, it will be likely get scooped up.
Buying SGML on any weakness and hoping for a buyout in the 40s.
ATLX. They have 1/10th the market cap of SGML, which is pumping right now and will continue after it gets bought by BYDD. ATLX is about to begin lithium production in 2024 and is positioning to be sold in probably the next 12-18 months. Lithium is increasingly cheap right now, so the value and growth is there.
SGML is killing it today, and it looks like SAVE is continuing its slow ascent as the market prices in the odds of the trial outcome more and more. It has been a very good day for me.

SGML - Sigma is down because the Co-CEO’s were married, and currently going through a messy divorce and legal battle over one of them selling SGML trade secrets to thwart the sale of the company to Tesla. The wife remains CEO and is suing her husband for selling trade secrets. They are both likely liquidating stock for attorney fees. I sold 80% of my position. I should have optioned a put….

You can consider $SQM and $SGML. Some risks with SQM being in Chile though so would recommend to DYOr

Are there any specific websites/sources you use daily? I use The Economist for a lot of my global news (which has been useful lately for learning more about future copper demand and China's manufacturing troubles).

SGML, LI, IONR, and LICY are the only things in my portfolio not performing like absolute dog shit.
SGML is in the sweet spot. There's bunch of projects, but basically none that are going to come online anytime soon. Current producers are printing money, and have contracted alot of their production. Someone will pay a kings ransom for SGML. The question is whether it happens in the coming months, or next year when the production really ramps up.
Best investment was a 10-bagger over 2 months called incontext systems. They made an SGML browser. I sold they day that netscape announced a competing SGML browser and the stock tanked in the following days. I don't think that is how it would play out in the market today. Worst investment, have to say my first house, it was a money pit because it had a wooden foundation.
SGML just broke ground and started operations in April 2023. Also I believe the method they use is a much cleaner process than other lithium miners. One thing to be aware of is that raw lithium prices have been coming down putting some pressure on the industry. I hold a few lithium plays myself, Livent reports earnings on may 1st and I'm interested to see which direction we go in, I think there is upside potential there. This is not financial advice by any means.
Part of this crash is related to nationalization news, but an even bigger part of this move today was just an overall rotation out of all miners/commodities as a whole. VALE, RIO, BHP, FCX, MP, etc. all dropped quite massively. So I'll play devil's advocate. Lithium as a whole is going through a severe cyclical downturn/correction (partly due to price wars between the EV cos). If someone wanted exposure to lithium, why would they take the additional risk at all of nationalization (company specific risk) in addition to commodity price risk? That being said, I do think most of the drop is from sector rotation out of mining. I think if you strongly believe in the lithium sector, I'd recommend diversifying and investing in juniors like SGML or PLL with limited/no threat of nationalization.
Sigma Lithium SGML. Seems like lithium is the best element for batteries at scale. The world is inevitably electrifying, so we’re gonna need a lot of it. The mining company looks promising b/c they recently finished opening up a mine in Brazil and now they’re scaling up production. Someone else mentioned they already got the license to export lithium from the Brazilian government. I’m just hoping the stock drops so I can buy the dip lol

What’s your thoughts on Block inc $SQ? I’m holding only 4 shares. I’m pretty much even now with the gains from the end of the week. I kind of feel like selling and putting that money elsewhere.
