Stantec $STN Shares up 8.5% after earnings. Got recommendation from this app. It is still rated high here but not sure if I should hold it or sell it. Anyone has more insights on this?

A lot of cash that was in MMFs coming off of the sidelines as rates have continued to drop. Some rotation out of infrastructure (ACM/STN/etc…) and medical. There is plenty of money to move around. As much as people are talking about the bond market and the 30 year yield, most investors are popping champagne over 5% risk free returns for three decades.

I'm rotating out of SLV and possibly gold after +100% returns and about 30% of my portfolio on that call. My latest most interesting stock is STN - I think it's undervalued but still need more DD before a big allocation. Seems dumb not to have a small position in stuff like arkq and oust... just learning now though, open to more robotics and ai hardware system tickers. These products will be in all construction equipment, military equipment, cars, trucks, drones etc etc etc.

Prepare to downvote: ARKG, ARKQ, OUST Maybe not as wild: STN, BABA,

I sold a bunch of my Tilray shares two weeks ago for just under 8USD once it became clear the DOJ medical S3 ruling was another STN (sell the news) event. I held on too long after the EO on 18 Dec and did not want to repeat that mistake. Intent was to buy it all back at some point and right now under 6USD is enticing...BUT I think I have finally come to realize Tilray is not going to turnaround, or at least to the level I see some of the MSOs potentially achieving. I have come to the conclusion that Irwin Simon has diluted one too many times and there is just too much negative sentiment after that ill-timed reverse split on Thanksgiving (quite the turkey). Thinking it is time to buy some MSOs beyond CL. Tempted on Trulieve, but am cautious about Florida; will there be competition and price compression? Also thinking about buying some GTI. I listened to the conference call; impressive. Has Charlotte's Web run its course? I regret not jumping into it earlier when GeoLogic suggested .13CAD was a bargain. I note BAT exchanged debt for shares at .94CAD but CWEB is presently trading at .63 (it experienced some significant recent declines off of mid .80s). I am disappointed in Tilray, and perhaps more in myself for falling in love with a company and not letting go of the denial aspects of admitting (to myself) I made a mistake. I've been in and out of Tilray since it was Aphria. Now looking to recoup some major losses in other weedstocks. Recommendations?

Some early morning second cup of coffee thoughts; my wife and I were planning a trip to Las Vegas this week (not so much to gamble, but to just stay at a nice hotel and catch a few shows) but decided to cancel. This was primarily associated with the TSA and long waits at the airport; but in truth, given the state of my portfolio I am not feeling the urge to go out and spend lots of money right now. The first quarter of 2026 did not unfold as I expected/hoped. Unlike others on this subreddit (who are apparently far smarter) I believed the 18 Dec 2025 Executive Order signing was going to kick off a bit of a resurgence of weedstocks. Instead it appears to have kicked off a protracted STN (sell the news) situation that just will not let up! I surmise this is primarily due to investors in this sector highly doubtful of intangibles and empty promises (soon). I suspect most won't believe S3 will happen until it actually happens. There are also uncertainties associated with how the Farm Bill loophole closure will impact hemp. Then there is the whole attack on Iran led by Israel and the USA...and Iran's ability to shutdown oil supplies and consequent steep rise in gas prices, resulting in a consequent impact on the stock market. Although my portfolio is taking a shit kicking, it is nothing compared to the very real tragic loss of life that is occurring. Tears have literally swelled up in my eyes right now when I think about a school full of young girls getting hit by a missile. What now? I am hopeful things get better from here. Though there are far more important issues to consider, this is a weedstocks subreddit so I will stick to this subject. I think it is a mistake to sell my weedstocks now (of course, I thought that last Saturday, and the Saturday before, and the Saturday before that). I do believe Trump is going to find a way to declare victory in Iran; this government is pretty much lying about everything else (Epstein, ICE, TSA) so why not add a "we achieved our military objectives" (hard to know if there really were any objectives). I consider the primary reason for this potential declaration is one of the few things that Trump cares about is the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and it touched correction territory yesterday. I suspect a lot of Trump's right wing billionaire friends will be reaching out to him while he plays golf in Miami this weekend and suggesting he 'fix' this issue. As an aside, I am still taken aback by the pictures of Pam Bondi taken after her Epstein hearing. She looked 20 years older. She needs a win, and S3 is low hanging fruit. I am not saying it will happen next week, but I have not completely lost hope either. I am also hopeful yesterday's news about some hemp derived products being covered by Medicare effective 1 Apr is the first tangible bit of news that will see this sector turn. My conclusion (for myself, not investment advice) is to bite my lower lip and continue to hold the shares in LPs and MSOs that I regret not selling on 17 Dec 2025, or 17 Jan 2026, or 17 Feb 2026, or now last week.

In hindsight I have to agree with you there. Lots of folks were posting realities. I made the mistake of seeing it more as negativity (it did not help that many were pretty strong worded) than warning. I remain hopeful S3 will get us back on some sort of track...but my expectations are substantially lowered. I hope those who still see 5x or 10x on the menu realize this. The numbers I stated has me breaking even, and I was a breath away from getting there on 17 Dec. But the haze of greed kicked in and I did not heed the warnings of some (maybe even you Swordfish) that warned of it being a STN even.

If a tree falls in the forest...if one posts on Reddit weedstocks does it even get read anymore? I am closing in on nine years "invested' in this sector. So much silliness! A few examples: 1. Watching for the weekly Friday announcement of grow ops licenses waiting for Tilray's Double Diamond facilities to get approved; 2. Vic Neufeld hinting at big tobacco buying Aphria out, Tomahawk steaks, grow ops in Central America, Jamaica operations...Bob on the Job; 3. CannTrust fake walls...I still remember the CEO Peter Aceto's name; 4. Cam of Aurora flying around in a business jet, opening up grow facilities in the coldest city in Canada (greenhouse in -40 weather, what could go wrong?), big store in the West Edmonton Mall; 5. Hindenburg short attack on Aphria (that was a six figure lesson on margin calls...set me back years...thankfully oil's CONTANGO bailed me out of complete failure); 6. Bruce Linton's regular gap toothed talks on CNBC and Cramer pushing CGC; 7. Biden getting elected and the 2021 rush only to be followed by Schumer's "soon" and Booker's laying down in front of a bus; 8. Trump winning the election tanking LPs and MSOs; 9. Trump's EO on S3 being a STN event; 10. I am looking forward to others on here recalling a few absurdities we have all had to endure. A lot of contributors to this subreddit have either moved on or simply no longer posting. I expect they are doing well in other sectors once they tore this band-aid off. Ironically, I miss some of the livelier conversations that happened here (when there was still potential)...the mayonnaise person, banana eater, and I think it was noob who ate the bull's balls and provided a picture (with some kept in the freezer for the next run up). The purchase of Lambos and trips to Las Vegas was the talk. The less ambitious were looking forward to paying off mortgages or early retirement. I recall one person posting that they bought a new Ford F150 with their gains. Another person bought an old Duster car with a 340. Fun stories. I remain hopeful some clarity and eventual S3 might spur a renewed weedstock spirit; but right now it feels as though this sector is on life support. I am watching volume more than price action, looking for an uptick. The only real laugh I got was last week from any of the posts was someone referring to Pam Bondage. I am not sure what was so funny about it, but I admit to a bit of a spit take with my coffee. I have given up on 10x, 5x, or even 3x. If I can get about a double (which puts us back to Dec 18 numbers) I am out. Specifically, that means MSOS at 8USD, Tilray to 14USD (I know, I know, shit meme company and Irwin is overpaid...but it is on the NASDAQ and will be an early gainer), and Cresco to 3CAD. I remain hopeful some sort of announcement of medical and Medicare options will do this. But who knows. All the best to everyone here who is taking a chance on this sector. I sincerely hope each of the strategies we chose results in a win.

While not a formal psychological model, "stages of regret" often mirror the well-known Kübler-Ross model of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance;, used to process significant loss or disappointment. Although these stages are non-linear, not everyone experiences all of them, and they don't have to occur in a specific order. These stages describe common reactions to painful realities. 1. Denial - Not accepting the USA is not very enlightened when it comes to cannabis reform; 2. Anger - The (apparently obvious to everyone but me) STN event that occurred 18 Dec at precisely 12:50pm; 3. Bargaining - The first three weeks of Jan thinking 'something' will turn this around; 4. Depression - Watching the DOJ withhold the Epstein files despite a court order (thus no S3 focus) knowing no progress is likely happening on S3. 5. Acceptance - Watching Trump bully the world into giving him Greenland, the significant economic (and more scary, potential military) fallout of this folly, and knowing that any meaningful cannabis reform is unlikely from someone who posts silly and inflammatory AI generated pictures on his social media account. I sincerely hope I am wrong and Bondi drops some clarity by the end of the month...but at this point all I am doing is maintaining the sell order prices I have set (they really are not that ambitious, about 2.5x yesterday's prices) and getting on with life. Wacky, wacky times.

Good rational points greenbelieve and Kbarbs. My primary regret is not selling all my weedstocks the day before 18 Dec. I obviously did not realize how much of a STN event this actually would be. I am now left with waiting for the next bit of good news...the trick is now determining when STN kicks in next time (as in 12:50 pm on 18 Dec). Tilray's 8 Jan Q Report was pretty much what I expected (as I said "meh"). I have come to not expect much from any weedstock and am banking on S3 clarity news to provide a boost and hopefully an exit. FWIW, I am no longer a Tilray fan...tough to come to that conclusion after believing there would be some sort of Cinderella story here. I do believe it will benefit from any S3 clarity, but long term? Not sure how they will live down Simon's proven track record of share dilution for questionable acquisitions. Rest assured, when I finally sell my remaining shares of Tilray I won't be coming on here to trash the company...it is not my "duty" to warn others about this (or any other company). This subreddit has become such a buzz kill in this regard. There is the occasional enlightened post (most recently geologic's synopsis of CWEB) but mostly just trash talk. The sad truth is I actually strongly believe in CBD from a medical perspective (it changed my life as far as pain management of arthritis)...and this belief has interfered with making sound investment decisions in this sector. I do believe Tilray's medical distribution system in Germany is the best model. I am completely taken aback by the lack of understanding of the US government. The outright misinformation and lies about CBD and THC is hard to comprehend. But then, the concept of Greenland being invaded was inconceivable up to about a year ago. Canada becoming the 51st state is no longer an absurd thought (assuming Greenland becomes something like another Puerto Rico). The state of the world is the worst I have seen. I did not mean to slip into politics, but regardless of the movement on S3 by this government, I worry about what's to come in a way I have never worried before.

Someone posted a link to Chartman Dan's latest podcast on cannabis stocks (although it appears to have been since taken down from Reddit). I watched all 50 some odd minutes of the YouTube video...it was really well done. What was most sobering is all the "rookie mistakes" he speaks to. These  may as well have been my playbook. I do respect he suggests he was making them as well until he finally decided to start getting really serious about technical analysis. CMD also indicated that although he is in a financial position to retire, he loves the game too much. I know about the "sell the news" approach by the professionals. CMD suggests it is not manipulation (an overused term in his view) but merely the cold hearted professionals taking advantage of typical retail (emotional) investors. I do believe there is certainly a STN aspect to what happened on the 18th Dec; although it seems a little suspicious the selloff occurred precisely 40 mins prior to the EO signing and was straight down. Perhaps it was stop loss triggers, I certainly had some stop loss sells happen (which thankfully preserved some gains. So what to do in the New Year?  I do believe there will be a series of catalysts. Bondi has her marching orders. I think S3 will be sooner than later (but the "soon" schtick during the Biden administration kept me on the hook longer than I should have...missed opportunities galore in other sectors). Medicare, Veterans, and Seniors programs seems likely by April.  280E and SAFE? Uncertain of timing. Going into 2026 I will try to be a little less emotional about how I invest in this sector and certainly remain more balanced. BTW, there were five dispensaries in the town of about 25,000 where I live. Two of them recently closed their doors.  In other sectors I am invested in, I note oil prices are going down due to the possibility of peace in Ukraine. Of course, Putin hammers Kiev.  Trying to make sense of insanity has been my Achilles Heel. But I do think 2026 could be the year for weedstocks...but then, I thought that in 2018 and again in 2021. I would be most interested to hear some of the stalwarts of this subreddit site weigh in. I have even unblocked Foodcooker as in truth, had I paid more attention to his and Swordfish's posts I would have had a better balanced 2025 in terms of pros and cons. All the best in the New Year. I sincerely hope it is our year.

Thanks Many_Easy. As importantly, I am also open to my viewpoint being challenged with cogent fact. For example, watching this entire sector lose approximately 30% across the board has me believing this was more than just a “STN” event. That being said, I have yet to see any credible (other than just opinion) evidence one way or another. I have been investing for over 30 years now and have never witnessed the type of coordinated takedown of a sector like I did these past few days. However, although I am tired of these elevator shaft type drops, I still believe the S3 EO was a game changer. I guess we will all have to wait and see how this plays out in 2026.

I find it increasingly difficult to wade through the posts on this subreddit (although I did learn a new acronym, STN...sell the news). Apparently this was the case at 12:50pm on the 18th of Dec 40 mins before the EO was signed. The across the board selloff of both MSOs and LPs has me convinced something other than STN was in play. Time will tell. I recommend long term investors check out the Vicente podcast that's on this subreddit. It is a detailed 50 mins of fairly dry information, but important to facilitate understanding of what exactly the S3 process will look like. It's going to be slower than we would all like, but it is still a major win. Below is a subset of an article taken from The Globe and Mail, I believe it provides a decent overview of why Tilray is well positioned for the medical and research aspects that S3 will open up in the USA.  Before posting the article, I will try to preempt the inevitable FUD and other harsh posts that will follow. I assure this group I am not a "fan boy" of any particular MSO or LP. I also happen to dial in to the Q Report calls and read financial statements of the companies I invest in; although I was apparently not informed enough to know to sell all my weedstocks 40 mins before the EO was signed.  Regardless of the price retraction across the board these last few days, the S3 EO was a major shift in the winds of change for this sector. It won't change quickly, but the future is far more promising than it was on the 17th of Dec. It was a reasonable amount of STN, and then a massive coordinated dump. 1000% manipulation. They pressed him on it but he insists everyone is just dumb. TBH my plan was to trim shortly after signing, as were a lot of peoples, but nobody even had a chance to secure any profits. My core position would have remained in the game long as it is now. They're just absolute fraudulent pigs. I hope whomever is responsible or complicit goes to the booty house.

Just got done watching TDR. They had Hammond on. I'll recap it for all of us. He said we're unintelligent traders that mistimed the market. But it's okay because it's a long play and slow steady growth is good even though that's not a thing in our OTCs but somehow it is moving forward? Said it's possible JaneStreet can manipulate but he's seen no evidence of that. It was simply a sell the news event. Problem is news was already out and confirmed. Yes many people don't believe that kind of news until the pen on paper moment. Sell the news was happening all throughout Wednesday and early Thursday, that is normal. Traders exiting, and investors entering. There was still upward momentum due to the nature of the news. The coordinated dump across markets on all canna tickers was not STN. TDR hosts brought that up, he just reiterated that investors mis-timed entry. So the prospectus is stocks will go up, but only for a few days a year, then back to lows. You have to watch it yourself to believe it.

Just FYI, "BTR/STN" applies more to individual companies and their specific news. You're trying to apply this to a very high level of broad reaching macroeconomic policy. This perceived policy adjustment will be a tailwind for many companies and their stock prices. I wouldn't apply this mantra the way you are.

How many times do people need to go through these BTR/STN events before understanding that this is how it works and that the market does make sense based on it? 2) Stop reading ZH, completely.
