They aim to harvest them through deep sea mining, which has a lower environmental impact than current methods. A decision by NOAA on mining permission is expected end of January, which will have a massive effect on share price.

TMC is the way. Copper is abundant in the form of polymetalic nodules. Deep sea mining (vacuuming up rocks, not digging) has bipartisan support with 2 executive orders, 1 Supreme Court case about NEPA laws, and first US partnership with a foreign private company Korea Zinc, TMCs primary partner after Allseas.

Good question. I’m not really expecting one single “moment” in 2026, it’s more that a lot of groundwork that’s already been laid starts to matter. Starting with TMC since that’s by far my biggest position. What keeps me in it is that this isn’t just a story anymore, they’ve actually hit a lot of real milestones that most people gloss over. They’ve already completed multiple successful pilot nodule collections, proven they can lift material from the seafloor, and processed nodules into battery-grade metals. That takes a lot of technical risk off the table. They also have a defined resource that’s massive and unusually high grade, especially for nickel and manganese, which are exactly the metals AI data centers, EVs, and grid storage are going to need more of. Going into 2026, what I’m watching for with TMC is regulatory and political progress rather than some flashy revenue number. Even partial movement at the ISA, or a member state backing them more openly, would be meaningful. On top of that, they’ve been aligning themselves more with US and allied governments, especially around securing non-China supply chains. I was big into TMC earlier this year and made a little bit of profit off its run up to $10, cashed out about a month ago and put my money elsewhere for now. Heard some very concerning things about the CEO, apparently he has a history of pushing big projects and big ideas to investors, burning through millions of dollars from investors and never achieving what they said they would. Selling the project to someone else and walking away. If he's serious about this company it could make him a shit ton of money so I don't really believe he'll do that here, especially when he's trying to work with the US government to get approval. So for that reason I'm out, but I'm still watching TMC and if they get the green light to start collecting those poly-metallic nodules and actually follow through I'll be jumping back in.

I think loading up on TMC is going to be a good play. They don’t plan to be mining the ocean floor until Q42027 but NOAA exploration and exploitation approval will probably come in 2026. If they succeed they’re going to create significant shareholder value.

There business model is dependent on gathering highly enriched rocks filled with critical minerals at the bottom of the ocean floor. The only thing holding them up right now seems to be permitting. Once regulatory section is good, they should be printing money.

The momentum will slow once the supply/demand balance out, but they are a solid long-term investment if you hold to scaling your portfolio off of AI. **Welltower** because the US and EU have an ageing population and in the next 30 to 40 years there will be a lot of elderly and pensioners. This is where Welltower will make a lot more money as they provide exposure to elder care through real estate for seniors. **Nu Holdings** because Latin America is massively underbanked and Nu Holdings are accumulating more and more customers into digital banking. It is an ever-growing market. **Royal Caribbean Cruises** because with a large population being in retirement in the next few decades, the leisure industry will likely boom. People may also start retiring earlier due to AI taking away more jobs and leaving people out of work. The leisure industry has a lot of potential. **TMC The Metals Company**, this is early stages and the most risky investment. They specialise in ocean mining and are expected to begin production in 2027. There is a far higher yield of minerals in the ocean than land-based mining and demand for precious metals keep increasing due to the technology boom. Higher yield means more money and less expenses. I've intentionally made these stock different from what most people suggest here as everyone just seems to be repeating what each other says, and I don't disagree with their suggestions, but these ones I offer show potential in other areas. They might not be as flashy and immediate as some big tech stocks, but there is long term potential. YTD Returns Samsung: 74% Welltower: 51.3% Royal Caribbean: 25.6% TMC Metals: 63.3% $10k invested in each at the start of the year would now be $61k.

Not mentioned here, LMT and KZ announced a deal with the US for antimony and/or germanium earlier this year, and LMT still has claims to the CCZ for polymetallic nodules - business TMC is in. And the nodules contains copper, cobalt, nickel, manganese, some of which are crucial for defense such as LMT. So love to see the expansion of LMT and KZ, as LMT would benefit from minerals in nodules but also likely requires a partner to mine their areas of the CCZ - hello TMC. I’m long TMC, decent size position - my take on this announcement is the smelter is not specific to polymetallic nodules which need a different processing method (hydrometallurgic) - it’s instead other forms of copper+ gold, antimony and germanium. However, given KZ/TMC relationship, TMC’s clear progress with the USA this year, the White House EO in April along with other US legislative developments for deep sea mining, my opinion is we’ll see TMC receive permit approval, and processing partnerships with USA and Japan and/or Korea will be announced as well. Bottom line, the minerals found in polymetallic nodules: copper, nickel, cobalt, manganese, and the areas of claims TMC currently has (and the potential for LMT and TMC to partner to mine LMT’s areas as well) is in many ways needed in order to for the USA to successfully pursue objectives involving AI/tech, trade, leapfrogging China who has monopolized minerals/REE, defense/national security, US job creation, steel manufacturing, etc etc. Minerals are the new oil, and IMO if this particular KZ deal isn’t for nodules, we’ll see more deals over the course of 2026, hopefully a matter of months. TMC gave a production start timeline of Q4 2027, so expect 2026 to be a year of headlines, for better or for worse.
