I do not use search engines anymore due to AI, but prior to that i used Google with ad block. For this reason it is critical from stock perspective, that Google finds how to produce bucketloads of fradulent clicks from users of Gemini. In near future there will be only agents in direct interaction of WWW and those agents will NOT be from Google. I loaded up on all of the storage stocks. Out of all them, I think WDC is the least volatile with the most to gain. Data centers are 80% HDDs. While STX is the HAMR media darling, WDC is actually more profitable and is sampling HAMR. I think this is a relevant comparison. AI is very new and there are comparisons with the WWW from 25+ years ago. Remember when the stock market was pouring money into any company that had a web precense, even without any chance of future profits just because they had a dot com? AI is already proving to be an incredible productivity booster and I'm sure new agents will emerge that will automate functions that were unimaginable just a few years ago. But there will also be a lot of snake oil and fluff. This is a great medium for crystal balling the possibilities.

A little timeline from someone working in tech and following AI advancements, but not working in AI per se. 2010 was the deep learning paper by Hinton et al. - same guy who recently walked away from the field saying AI would take over, btw. We saw rapid advancements in neural network research over the following decade. Groundbreaking text and image generation networks arrived in the late 2010s. I first saw a paper authored by an early GPT model around 2019 and was blown away. [This site](https://this-person-does-not-exist.com) came out around the same time. ChatGPT was released in 2022. Dall-E around the same time. This was the first introduction of these generative models to the general public. We are three years into the AI equivalent of the WWW in my opinion. But keep in mind that the rate of technological advancement has accelerated since the 90s. AI is already all over the place, and usually unannounced. And there are a host of other technologies known as “AI” that have been around for decades. Kind of like ARPANET. I think it’s a good analogy, and we have not yet hit the sharpest point in the upward curve of usage, impact, etc. I don’t know what this has to do with stocks unfortunately. Sure we’ve got shades of 1999 P/E ratios, but the world has changed dramatically since then. I think AI will disrupt workforces and markets worldwide, but how that plays out is anyone’s guess.
