Yeah, right; the government which (against public warning) published the entirety of the fabricated case file against an arrested Mexican general exposing the DEA's ill-intented practices and overall corruption to the world. The government which later limited and regulated the duties of DEA agents in Mexican soil. The government which invited Biden to its Indepedence Day military parade while also inviting the Cuban president as its honor guest. The government which has repeatedly criticized the American embargo against Cuba and has recently proposed the complete overhaul of the OAS system or its complete replacement with a non US-controlled integration system. The government which has openly criticized the scandalous operation "Fast and Furious" of the past and recently filed a lawsuit in Massachusetts against American gun manufacturers. Exactly. For all these people talk about shibtards not understanding market cap they don’t either. Not saying it is likely, but if demand goes way up and all the holders refuse to sell MC can run to astronomical levels without necessarily injecting that much fiat. If everyone who owns crypto collectively decided to sell tomorrow it wouldn’t be worth anywhere close to 2.3T. MC can be very misleading when you assume it is actually a measure of how much it would all be worth if it got sold right now. The 180 BTC that the DEA kindly holding for me after SR went down is technically contributing 10MM to BTC MC but it can’t be touched.

This story is the stuff of bullshit. The country's premier narcotic department (similar to the DEA) raided a party on a cruise ship, and came away with 5 grams of hash, 11 ecstacy pills etc. Literally going after party goers ... And the entire right wing hate mongers are celebrating this, just because the main guy who was caught is the son of a very popular Muslim actor. The right wing hate mongers really love to sling mud on any Muslim and this is yet another chance they have seized Its so much bullshit that country's resources are being used to vilify a 23 year old with 5 grams of hash, something that is legal in many countries. And 11 xtacy pills. Lmao. [Meanwhile just a week ago, 3000 KG of heroin](https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/mumbai/sachin-pilot-demands-judicial-probe-in-3000-kg-heroin-seizure-in-gujarat-7552552/) was found in a port of a prominent businessman who funds the far right BJP government.. and the entire right wing media is silent on this. OP can you explain if the 3000 KG was also bought using crypto? Or was it bought with dirty banks or fiat notes

>"Someone somewhere will *always* be willing to take your block." Theoretically, sure. However, if I am a big mining center and I have hundreds of millions of dollars worth of hardware, legal fees, and a very restrictive financial agency that is up my ass and I have an easy to use feed where I can on-the-fly compare TXOs to a list of "Bad" addresses from Chainalysis, or APIs that are downstream of the IRS, the DEA, the FBI, and/or other large financial interests: do I want to risk scrutiny from financial agencies? Could I get audited? Am I responsible for servicing the payment of criminals? You can **hope** that the game theoreticals work out in the ways you anticipate, but why not go ahead and address this technological capability as a short coming?

Believe it or not things are getting better. The USA forced much of the world to accept the war on drugs and DEA inside sovereign nations. That war failed so miserably and exposed the true motive which was probably cover for the CIA and DEA. The effects of this failure are massive. Thankfully US control is waning as is their reputation globally. Slowly but surely the wounds caused by the war are healing. Sovereign nations are resisting US "help" and charting their own course based on their own self interest. This is a good thing. I know that El Salvador will continue to evolve and struggle to reach the collective goals they share. As an outsider my opinion is based on my self interest. I have no dog in the political fight there, nor family. If I go it would be to smoke weed on the beach since I cannot drink alcohol due to liver issues. I spoke out of frustration and anger for all the wasted lives in a cage for a plant. My bad.

Here's the thing; AFAIK everything done under FDR could be (and was) done without ending the gold standard. It could/should have been a "pause" at most and public gold ownership allowed again (with the gov. selling reserves back to the public) as soon as the economy was stabilized. FDR also upped the exchange rate to $35/oz. to maximize the ability to inflate the money supply using the gold & certificates they took in (almost $1B worth in 1934 dollars) so they definitely squeezed it for all the juice they could get. By Nixon's term there was no juice left though, and he had "ambitions" to fund. The whole point of FDR's actions were to inflate the money supply and plow new dollars into the economy, but at that point the gov still had to back those dollars with gold, whether or not citizens could hold the metal themselves. So it did put a cap on inflation. Without Nixon we could have maintained a currency that was backed by gold (... hell, backed by *anything*) but then he wouldn't have been able to spend like he needed to in order to fulfill his policy ambitions, because the money wasn't there for bullshit like the DEA. They had to pull it out their asses. Granted I'm not an economist and I might be wrong here (in which case I'm sure someone will correct me) but I've never viewed FDR as being the beginning of the end for the gold standard - to the contrary, it appears to me he did everything he could to work within the confines of that standard. Convertibility is one thing; backing is something else. We still had backing for the dollar, until Nixon took that away. TL;DR: There's no question the writing was on the wall before Nixon came along, but it was him who dealt the death blow to the gold standard. It might have been maintained had he never been elected afaik.

Yes, *the worst*. I personally blame Nixon for the state of the US today. Also, something else nobody seems to have mentioned: Nixon created the DEA and started the failed War on Drugs. Nixon single-handedly ensured the downfall of America with his actions as President. I can't think of any other President in history who has done nearly so much damage. The state of our economy, personal freedoms and the police state can all be traced directly to him. And yet most seem to think Watergate was the worst thing he did....

I don't see any growth for either honestly. Litecoin is slowly losing it's staying power and doesn't have any reason to still exist. Most people only bought it to diversify their holdings and it was marketed as the "silver" to Bitcoin's "gold". Monero is probably the riskiest crypto over $1 billion in market cap to invest in. I would be genuinely shocked if there is a single on ramp left selling it in 2 years. It is basically perfectly designed to be used on the dark net, in ransomeware attacks and to evade taxes. You'll hear some high-minded bullshit about protecting your freedom but it's really just them protecting themselves from the IRS, FBI or DEA.

A DEA Agent stopped at a ranch in Texas and talked to an old rancher. He told the rancher, “I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs.” The rancher said, “okay, but don’t go into that field over there…”, as he pointed out the location. The DEA Agent verbally exploded and said, “look mister, I have the authority of the federal government with me!” Reaching into his rear back pocket, the officer removed his badge and proudly displayed it. “See this fucking badge?! This badge means I can go wherever the fuck I want… whenever the fuck I want,On any land! No questions asked, no answers given! Do you understand old man?!” The rancher kindly nodded, apologized, and went about his chores. Moments later the rancher heard loud screams, he looked up and saw the DEA agent running for his life, being chased by the ranchers big Bull…… With every step the bull was gaining ground on the officer, and it was likely that he’d sure enough get gored before he reached safety. The officer was clearly terrified. The old rancher threw down his tools, ran as fast as he could to the fence, and yelled at the top of his lungs…… “YOUR BADGE! SHOW HIM FUCKING YOUR BADGE!!”

Hello DEA, how are you today?

Mentions:#DEA
r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Satisfactory? Absolutely. I wasn't even sure if your addiction issues were drug related as we both know you can become addicted to just about anything. In fact, I have to personally admit that kind of happened to me with Bitcoin and crypto for a good minute there. Had to tell everyone I know, try to get all of my friends into it, read about it all day in an attempt to make up for lost time (I guess?), never shut up about it. I now know why it's a better idea to keep some of those beliefs to yourself and just let Bitcoin do its thing, so I've taken a slight step back from it all nowadays, both for the sake of my mental health and my poor loved ones. However, believe me when I say I'm still 100% Bitcoin and will keep stacking sats until the day I feel satisfied with how far adoption has come. Only then will I be truly enjoying the fruits of my patience and diligence. I don't even see the price anymore, just keep stacking and stacking because I never would have invested had I not put full faith into the purpose of it. I'm not in it for the money... of course that's nice, but I'm here for the movement and will continue to be. I do know about those Opanas, my friend, I'd say blues were really what first gave me a taste of what a real drug addiction was. I grew up in the Florida pill mills, so back in those days, I'd get them for $9 a piece along with some 50 cent bars. You can see why that was a dangerously negative thing for me to have so much nonstop exposure to, so I moved away from Florida to try to get my life in order. It worked for a little while until I found myself trading out those addictions for twisting the pipe and falling deeper into my alcoholism, which was always something that just kinda lingered in the background when the dillies and blues were around. I moved a couple more times in an attempt to run away from my problems until I wound up back in Florida. The DEA had shut down most of the clinics at this point, but I had been on Kratom for about 2 years prior at the time. This time around it was just the heavy booze and kratom. The booze was going to take me out, I was sure of that, not to mention alienate me in the meantime. I finally managed to stop drinking right around the time that I got into Bitcoin and never looked back. I think it did help get my mind off of the booze back then, which may be why I got so obsessed with it for a little while... but it taught me a lot, and somehow, I learned a great deal about myself through Bitcoin in a roundabout way. They say money is the root of all evil, but I don't think that sentiment would ring true anymore if we were finally able to have a financial system that favors more than just a select few and has its value decided by the people, not decided by that same minority group of puppet masters. These days, I am still on Kratom. It's been a long time now. Not sure if you know anything about kratom withdrawals, but they're definitely their own unique monster, and they last for weeks. I've tried quitting a couple times, and it didn't work too well unfortunately. Kratom as a drug does allow me to function like a normal person, but I'm tired of the maintenance and control it has over me. I've had recent talks with my girlfriend about seeking out a doctor that can help me figure out a proper suboxone taper. I don't know where I would be without it all those years, but it has served its purpose, and I'm ready for the next chapter, the one with NO opioids. Through all of this, I still use psychedelics from time to time, and I wholeheartedly believe that I wouldn't have come to some of the tough realizations I've had without them, or at least I don't think I would have done anything about them. The Kratom is my one nuisance left, and I've gotten through worse, just gotta stay on track, act, and take it day by day. SO SORRY for the novel. That all just kinda came out, and it felt good to write, so thank you for that, and I really appreciate you sharing. I wish you good days ahead, my friend, be good to yourself. You've got a good head on your shoulders.

They are trying, but like in a lot of Latin America its really not that simple to do so. Crime is deeply embedded, as is corruption (hell, Honduras's President's brother was recently arrested by the DEA). And when you have limited funds like a lot of Latin American governments have, the smarter ones try and prioritize development instead. Costa Rica is historically the most successful of the Latin American countries in large part not because of as large of a focus on its police (and not having an army as an intentional choice). More money for development meant it ended up in a lot better of a situation than a lot of its neighbors

My crappy memory. If you Google you'll find some reputable articles and documentaries. Pretty sure I'm not misremembering. It's a fucking wild story. DEA agent worked his way to the inner circle, gained Ross's trust and made up exiatential threat to provoke a response.

The CIA and DEA are knee deep in the drug business to fund they black budgets. Just look at Afganistans opium production after the US invasion. Or read up how CIA funded the Nicaragua contras with money from cocaine sold to their own population. The british empire found it very profitable to ship opium from India to China, which ended in the opium wars. And lets not talk about Colombia as a good market for perpetual war, and Ecuador as the place to launder the money. He was a visionary but you dont play with the dark forces that run the system.

Have a look at this documentary on Paul Le Roux. He actually fits the profile of Satoshi perfectly: [https://youtu.be/hQxPwA7yGjk](https://youtu.be/hQxPwA7yGjk) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl3vbvVKFw4 Le Roux is not flamboyant. In fact, he kept quite a low profile in real life. He lived and dressed quite simply and amassed a massive fortune but only in gold and real estates where it's safe (Hong Kong). He was not just some knuckle-dragging criminal but have worked extensively in the cybersecurity industry and came up with his own encryption that even DEA struggled to break. He's spent time living and working in Britain which explains Satoshi's way of spelling and slangs (using "bloody" as an exclamation). And Le Roux was also known to frequent message boards too but the only inconsistency is that Le Roux was a raging racist but that can easily be suppressed especially after living for extended periods in Asia. AND Le Roux was a good leader and very good at coercing people into doing his biddings. Le Roux would had benefitted quite immensely had Bitcoin succeeded. He would be able to to get rid of the most unreliable elements in his operations - the muscles he rely on to take in money then convert to and guard the gold. He would be able to scale up his business by several folds because a lot part of his empire would had been digitised and under his direct control. To be fair, when Le Roux was caught, the DEA also seized his laptop gained complete access to it so DEA would have known Le Roux's involvement with Bitcoin. They could have impedes Bitcoin adoption simply by point its origin to an arms dealer. So even though there are a lot of hits, there are a lot of misses (two spaces after period).

> He was set up by corrupt DEA agents, and was being advised by someone else who suggested he kill his former employee. Whether it was real or not, he chose to kill instead of taking the high road. If I approach you and offer to kill someone you have a problem with and you choose yes then that shows us your intent. It doesn't matter if you are ever tried or found guilty of it, if it is documented well enough people can see your intent and what kind of person you are at that time. And if the evidence for it is submitted along side other charges that intent can paint a bigger picture. In Ulbricht's case he was being tried as a kingpin and the murder for hire evidence that was presented and corroborated was introduced to show the lengths he was willing to go to protect his empire. This was all covered thoroughly durring the trial so I'm not just making it up. >It’s clear the US govt is unwilling to address the embarrassing monstrosity that was the Silk Road investigation It's not really embarrassing. People can be corrupt and some corrupt agents were discovered and punished. But those agents were not a part of the team that found and apprehended Ross. The investigation and their apprehension was above board and the forensics that followed was well documented and corroborated at his trial. You have a clear bias for conspiracy based on your other replies here so this comment wasn't really for you. I expect any reply to this to be you defending a conspiracy or a distortion of documented facts to paint a narrative.

He was set up by corrupt DEA agents, and was being advised by someone else who suggested he kill his former employee. He’s not completely innocent but it’s baffling to me that the DEA agents got 6 years in prison, VarietyJones got 20 years, while Ross is rotting in jail twice over with his appeals being revoked constantly, even now that they’ve apprehended the other bad actors. It’s clear the US govt is unwilling to address the embarrassing monstrosity that was the Silk Road investigation

DEA (Deus Finance). Synthetix competitor. 500 synthetic stocks tradeble (live on mainnet). It's the closest thing to "decentralized Robinhood" that exists in crypto. Market Cap 30M, down from 100M before the crash.

The DEA just pisses me off. There is a dealer at the end of my street that pushes 5k worth of drugs a week (meth/pills). And I can't get the DEA or local police to look into it. They are so blatant with it. But law enforcement doesn't care. Not big enough to make someone's career not worth it. But if I do anything about it I risk mine and my families well being. I've recorded drug sales and they won't do anything.... so we just moved. But they will go around busting grandma pot and people with prescriptions that forgot the bottle.... so bad.

>But if weed was legal then these people wouldn't have to get into shady organizational rings to distribute pot. Alcohol is legal but do you see major rings doing it under ground in there basement? Agreed and is my preference for sure. But you play the hand you're dealt. The DEA doesn't get the option to legalize weed and needs to operated in the world where it is illegal. And they're doing so in a rational manner

You get a ton of amateur home brewers but anyone serious enough with a good product will go big time. But ugh the DEA and ATF are such garbage departments. Defund them and give us all free pot and watch your crime rate drop.

I generally wish the DEA would just shrivel up and die but if I was forced to defend the practice it would be on the grounds that growers serious enough to be noticed by the electric company are usually integrated into distribution rings and you'll find those rings circulate more than just weed. Bust a grower and you can likely get them to rat out the kind of people we'd all like there to be less of.

Those are separate. Yes, there were a couple rogue DEA agents who were then convicted (although, that doesn't make Ross ordering that hit any better). That was the first hit Ross ordered. The other ones though, occurred after and it wasn't discovered until 2018 that the subsequent hits he ordered were actually all part of something else. I almost don't want to spoil it because the story is so interesting. I would highly recommend watching the youtube video The Dark Side of The Silk Road by Barely Sociable to see all of the conversations about the subsequent hits in their context. If you don't care about being spoiled then.... >!One of the largest sellers on the Silk Road, by the username of LucyDrop (and actually secretly behind many other accounts), pulled a huge scam on DPR. He messaged DPR from a new account called FriendlyChemist claiming to be a drug supplier that was freaking out about missing $900,000 worth of payments for the product he had supplied to LucyDrop. He claimed to be a middleman supplier for a "dangerous group of people" and the was fearing for his family's life because they wanted their money. This then spiraled out of control into him impersonating the Hells Angels and swindling DPR into paying him over half a million dollars worth of bitcoin (which would be worth billions today) to "assassinate" certain users of the site and their partners under the guise of being a high ranking member of the Hells Angels. DPR paid for the hits, got what he believed photographic proof of the tortured/dead bodies, and kept on going!<

Bill Clinton Administration murdered best selling author Peter McWilliams for being outspoken about weed and needing it to fight his own cancer. The DEA threatened him with imprisoning his mother and taking all her assets if he tested positive. He died choking on his own vomit trying to take his cancer medicine. Remember, Biden wrote this horrible racist crime bill that imprisoned more blacks than all of US history
