There's a lot of people here commenting about how predatory American college loans can be, and how a generation has been sold down the river on the idea that a degree of any kind implies future success. This is all true, but there's another aspect to the picture that has always pissed me off - there is no shortage of Americans who WANT to be sold down the river. Let me explain... For example, I know tons of people who actively and intentionally live beyond their means. They'll spend tens of thousands of dollars on a wedding because they want the attention that comes along with a big party. They'll buy the latest and greatest phone, not because their current phone is falling apart, but because they crave the look and feel of a new phone. They'll take out an absurd loan on a new car, not because they need it, but because new cars tend to turn heads and impress friends. Similarly, they want the experience and feaux prestige that goes along with attending a large university. They want the dorm life... And the parties... And the ability to dawn their schools insanely overpriced swag. Schools are cashing in on our greed. As this sub knows well, people in the west don't want money. They want "money"... They want to FEEL rich, while being in debt up to their eyeballs. Of course there are exceptions, and students who are indeed fooled by negligence guardians into believing the propaganda... But they're fewer than we'd like to admit. In my opinion, the majority want to have their cake and eat it too. Again, they WANT to be sold down the river.

I think people these days have very short memories because education has not been focusing on facts and figures in quite a while. I am the biggest idiot ever. I managed to throw everything into bitcoin after joining in December. I used nexo and managed to amass 0.6 btc like everyone or most people I was down a lot but thought it will come back. I had borrowed against my btc on nexo like a fool . Today they have taken 0.2 btc off me as a partial loan repayment. FEEL SO STUPID As if things were not bad enough. This was all I had/have If things keep going down they will basically liquidate me from the sounds of it. Lessons learnt. Don't invest more than you can afford to lose. Don't borrow against your crypto. Read the small print.

I FEEL LIKE A COWBOY. When I saw the drop I got up and screamed YEEHAW. We are riding a beautiful wild stallion right now and they are trying to kick us off something fierce. Let me tell you, let self get thrown there ain't to many ways to land that feel good and oh boy, if you can tame this wild beast it will take you far. I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I made the mistake of signing up for a copy trade service. My binance account for months was trading at all hours of the day as I had 3 different portfolios following three different leaders with different strategies. I paid 300 bucks for a report from cryptotrader.tax because they were the only ones that could read the csv files from kucoin, cashapp, and binance. I had an insane amount of trades, almost 100,000. When I gave everything to my tax guy and filled out the taxes, he couldn't stop laughing, because I had spent about a week printing out the data thinking we would send in a physical copy. He just attached the files and attached the prepared tax forms. I didn't owe anything since I was technically down $500 by 12-31 but still had to report all of it. The whole thing is an absolute fuckin mess. This is how the government is currently trying to dissuade investment into crypto I think. Granted, most people won't do like I did and have so many trades, but still, the fact that we have to report everything is just insane. And why can't the exchange just say "you spent X on crypto, you made Y, here's what you owe"??? They just give us all the raw data like GOOD LUCK, ASSHOLE.

Fucking stop using leverage you absolute idiots. How can it possibly be worth it to get liquidated instead of just buying and holding what you can afford? I have never been liquidated once becuase I don't play games designed to fuck me raw. It's EASY to ride out the dips when you don't use leverage, I FEEL NO STRESS AT ALL when the market dips like this. How many times does this have to happen before you all learn? We THINK we stand on the moral high ground so we FEEL like we should freeze their accounts.
