I’ve got 4 alt coins (LCR, STX, ANKR, ALGO) on my coinbase portfolio that I can’t get rid of. ($0.00, $0.02, $0.04, $0.07) It’s under the minimum to sell/convert. How do I get rid of these??

That hurts, I almost jumped the LCR wagon too at that time too, the shilling were real.

Buy the rumor, sell the news, and it doesn't help that the NFTs came out SO LONG after the LCR hype.

It's a pretty stale conception. In a liquidity crunch, there doesn't even have to be a run on deposits for a "regulation meeting" bank to break. LCR, VaR, Capital Adequacy, etc... all are poor measures for a bank's ability to sustain itself.

It’s not certain SVB would have met the liquidity requirements. Even the article you posted somewhere else ITT (which I read to follow your advice and “learn” more about the issue) says SVB “probably” would have passed the LCR. That’s the most it could say on the subject: probably. Don’t just condescend to the people you’re talking to. These are complicated topics and the people discussing these kinds of matters generally aren’t slow or somehow stunted in their intellectual capacity to understand. You shouldn’t be so quick to engage in your own “fundamentalism” whilst accusing others of doing basically what you’re doing - saying that there is absolutely no way deregulation had anything to do with this mess, or the sheer size of it, and suggesting everything is black and white when there’s considerably more grey than you’re acknowledging. People shouldn’t be so eager to pin the blame on any one party. Forbes is blaming it on the government, liberals are blaming Trump, and you’re blaming the bank alone. Seems like everyone is ideologically invested in this one if you ask me.

Banks are subject to further capital requirements beyond the reserve ratio. The liquidity coverage ratio current minimum requirement is 100%, which means banks are required to hold enough liquid assets (cash or ST treasuries) to cover cash flow over 30 days. SVB was not subject to LCR requirements which is why we’re seeing what we’re seeing. Yes, the current reserve ratio is 0%. However, there are other safeguards in place for the major players that go beyond just the reserve ratio. This post is misleading in that it implies ALL banks, including the giants of the industry (JPM, BOA), are leveraged beyond reason and have zero liquidity on their balance sheets. Which is not true. I am not defending SVB or the current financial system, but I don’t want to see people being misled. While the post is technically correct in this situation, it is not correct across the board.

Yes, the federal reserve imposed the LCR requirement for banks following Basel III.

No they don't. If a bank was to advance you a $1000 unsecured loan, they would simply do the following: - Create an asset to the value of $1000 on their balance sheet - this is the loan. - Create a $1000 liability on their balance sheet and fund your deposit account. This is new money that didn't exist before they advanced the loan to you. They're only limited in what they can lend by restrictions on their liquidity (things like LCR and NSFR) and their capital adequacy. It takes a little bit to get your head around it, but it's not crazy. I used to work in funding and liquidity in the treasury department of a bank, so was fairly close to the mechanics of it.

Can confirm, Basel III ratios are rough, banks need to optimize their balance sheets (Solvency + Leverage ratios) to be as light as possible while still remaining highly liquid (LCR + NSFR) and not be affected too much by rising interest rates (stressed NIM + EVE).
