The main problem with NMS was that it was released too early. The main missing feature was multiplayer, which was planned from the start, it's just they didn't manage to get it working in time and had to do all that PR dance to defuse the situation. Then there are standard bugs common with rushed releases, and lack of other content. The team was too small and the deadlines were to short for them to succeed. But the base game: the giant procedurally generated universe; was working reasonably well and was a foundation for all the content that came out later. So: solid foundations, lack of development time. Given time, which was the missing ingredient, the product became good. When it comes to projects like Decentraland, the foundation is walking around, "owning" land, and casting pointless votes in the DAO. It's a bad foundation and it's almost impossible to build anything good on top of it.

Not a bag holder of any metaverse token, no need to be so jaded man. No copium here. NMS was not great at launch, objectively. You thinking so is the true copium you’re looking for. Their improvements are not a “fluke” it’s the point of my comment. The developers put in the work and turned it into the success they didn’t have on launch. Decentraland did not focus on the right things, that’s very obvious. My point is simply if they do decide to put in the work using the money they extracted, as you put it, and continue to develop it then it will continue to have potential to grow. I don’t know what the controlling interest in decentraland has planned, and again, I doubt jaded outlook is 100% accurate either.

NMSP and TEM, both on BSC. NMS just did a migration to NMSP. They’ve developed what’s like a interconnected DeFi ecosystem. But NMS dropped from $6k at one point down to $6, with inflation. Rebase tokens. Same with TEM. TEM is at $1.60 now.

It's much more feasible for us to enforce though. We're the largest NMS civ but that's still tiny compared to most MMOs. It may happen occasionally on a scale we can't catch but if it becomes a significant problem it should also become obvious that it's happening. And in addition to our Treasury Department, we have the Security Office, [which is basically our space-CIA](https://kotaku.com/no-mans-skys-latest-trend-elaborate-espionage-1828309992). I trust they'd be made aware fairly quickly if anyone was attempting to buy or sell HubCoin, they have eyes everywhere. It's centralized as hell yeah, our civilization isn't even a democracy, and it's not worth anything so you don't need to worry about the greed-related components of centralization.

HubCoin is all about creating a tokenized version of player activity, which is the only scarce resource in No Man's Sky. There is no resource in No Man's Sky which is both transferable and unable to be duplicated or otherwise gained through exploits; this is why all previous attempts at creating a metagame economy have failed. All resources available through vanilla gameplay, including all in-game currencies, eventually become undesirable to end-game players. End-game players, however, still desire access to those things which can only be achieved by player activity: they want to commission custom in-game audio tracks under certain parameters, they want to pay for an artistic canvas in their base, they want a PC player to save-edit a custom fauna companion for them, they want a skilled architect to help design their base or do interior decoration, or maybe they just want the simple convenience of not gathering their own resources. Early-game players benefit from all of this as well, plus the additional benefit of using HubCoin to fast-track grinding elements if they so choose. Thus, in NMS multiplayer, player activity is the only universally-desirable resource. HubCoin is distributed in an amount directly proportional to an interloper's activity in Hub space, making it a tokenized version of player activity.

NMS is such a fun game to. Easily put 150 hours making a huge base, scouting out the perfect planets, saving credits for an S-Class ship, 20/10 recommend.
