Its a well known "secret" to be Nick Szabo. The whole Japanese pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto comes from him using his initials "SN" (Szabo, Nick) early on but quickly decided, for obvious reasons, to use it to go by Satoshi Nakamoto. It didn't take long for a community to come together for maintaining and building it without Satoshi. At that point he quietly killed off the Satoshi character since the longer he used it, the more likely he would get discovered as the actual creator. He already created a digital currency once. He knew first hand the implications/dangers of being knows as the creator of something potentially that huge.

if what you say is true, you don't think Satoshi also bought a couple hundred BTC in the early days and is still quite wealthy despite not being the multibillionaire he could be with access to the 1M coins which will remain untouched? Also, if the real guy is such a saint, why not use those 1M BTC for good? Like ending world hunger, or whatever other global scale issue we face? Anyways, I don't know the intricacies of this all, but a secret this big along with the potential power it has, tells me SN was someone who wanted to leave a legacy for the world and knew they were going to die. It would be too difficult to live a meagre life knowing you had billions at your disposal... there isn't a person alive with that kind of discipline. But, to my earlier point, perhaps he did make tens of millions and lives quite comfortably which would certainly make it easier. There is a threshold where money doesn't matter, it's probably somewhere around $50M depending on what kind of life you want to live.

Theres nearly 1m coins which were generated before BTC started trading, it matters if SN is dead, still alive, or a state actor. If any of those coins move it would significantly destabilize BTC.

Post is by: prieveschl and the url/text [ ](https://goo.gl/GP6ppk)is: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/09/podcasts/the-daily/satoshi-nakamoto-bitcoin-creator.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Z1A.Zc6v.htjM1l8I6VbV&smid=nytcore-ios-share I’m just honestly perplexed why this really matters? For real, what difference is it going to make to finally unmask the real SN and how is that going to change the impact his held coins will make when they’re finally sold? Everyone is anonymous on the chain so why should they be any different? Sure, there’s the impact of data hungry machines and their environmental impact but sincerely that ship sailed a decade ago. But how is any of that going to change once we all know for sure who to blame? Is t it all the rest of us, constantly moving coins around that are to blame? So curious to hear opinions on this article. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Ugh, it's ridiculous. Fine I give up. I'm tired of all this "hunting" for SN... I'm Satoshi, and I would prove it by moving some coin around but sadly I forgot to write down my seed phrases.. oopsie.

The only promising subnet I heard is SN64 Chutes, which still does NOT disprove my thesis: # Why Chutes can still get crushed Because the incumbents already have huge advantages. Nebius openly sells a **robust inference infrastructure** with managed Kubernetes, storage, monitoring, network balancing, security controls, and on-demand GPU pricing. Cloudflare already offers **serverless pay-per-use AI** with a global edge and explicit usage pricing. These are real products from real companies with existing trust, sales motion, and procurement acceptance. So Chutes is not competing from a position of strength on: * brand * enterprise trust * compliance comfort * uptime reputation If Chutes tries to compete as “another generic place to buy compute,” it probably loses. In other words: **Chutes can compete only as a niche product, not as a full-spectrum cloud rival.** Its plausible wedge is **serverless open-source model deployment + scale-to-zero + a decentralized privacy/security angle**. Nebius and Cloudflare are far stronger on general cloud credibility and enterprise comfort.

Mentions:#SN#NOT#GPU

Not necessarily. If quantum resistance is achieved but it relies on moving funds to a quantum resistant wallet and the majority of the market does so but SN doesn’t because they can’t and then SN coins are hacked, there is little problem outside those coins potentially entering the market. With that it’s unlikely the entity that went through the hassle to get the coins just market dumps. It’s the same fallacy of a 51% attack. It’s never worth it.

Even though it will effect the entire World It's not an easy thing to do and it must be done so gently. The one real way would be to put he image out and the hunt begins But to do so would be to sacrifice my own life and I'm not sure the time is right It could also trigger the SN figure to go into hiding and not be found until it's too late. Out-mining SN was nothing special, many others mined besides SN. I've been running Nethermine + Prysm for my validator, and it's been writing about 1.1TB per day. This is very close to the 0.3DWPD limit for consumer 4TB SSD. If you write at a rate that's significantly above the DWPD limit of your SSD, at some point you'll overwhelm the controller's ability to wear level and the chips will degrade faster than expected. I've seen it first hand when trying to run Base L2 nodes with consumer hardware - killed 4 SN850X 4TB drives on my side last year until I realized what actually killed them. Many people think simply controlling the storage size of full nodes via pruning is sufficient to keep Ethereum running in consumer hardware. It is not - the daily write rate is going to be a significant factor. Pretty soon validators will need to buy enterprise U.2 or E.3 SSD for the write endurance.

[https://nakamotoinstitute.org/library/shelling-out/](https://nakamotoinstitute.org/library/shelling-out/) When analyzing Satoshi’s writing on the Bitcoin Talk forum and texts like those of Nick Szabo, you can see a similar writing style, suggesting it could be the same [person.Plus](http://person.Plus), Szabo had a project before Bitcoin that never took off but was similar to Bitcoin, called **Bit Gold**. That would be simplistic. Let's take real world examples. About 300,000 Hongkongers will be relocating to the UK - 214,400 have already immigrated. Ref: [214,400 arrivals to the UK \(rounded\), with 25,500 in the year ending September 2024](https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-september-2024/how-many-people-come-to-the-uk-via-safe-and-legal-humanitarian-routes) Now, the crime rate of these Hong Kongers is below 1%. The Jail population of Hindus in UK Jails is a grand 0%. (Ref: Page 16, [UK Prison Population Statistics - submitted to the UK Parliament](https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN04334/SN04334.pdf)) Now, do you know what is the percentage of Muslims in Jails? Compared to their population? Muslims make up for 7% of England and Wales, but 18% of Jail population. (Ref. [abid](https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN04334/SN04334.pdf)) Even if the population doubles with immigrants from Chinese, Indian (read Hindu), Thai, Vietnam, Cambodian, etc populations, the crime rate won't double, it will come down. There is a problem that we must not overlook because it is not PC.

And then write back to his pretend persona as HIMSELF. It’s completely absurd. Looking just at that, and knowing what we know about his personality, lifestyle, how well known he already was in the space, and how un-paranoid he was, it’s just a bullshit theory. I can see why it’s popular, because he was well liked, capable, American, and he’s dead. So he’s the perfect fit for who bitcoin people would like SN to be. But it just ain’t him.

I recently read a theory that Douglas Adams’s 42 as being the answer to life, the universe and everything was a nod to 42 being the ASCII code for * or asterisk used in coding to represent all such as in SQL - SELECT * FROM…. What if 21 was a middle of the road figure out of a desire to not dominate a system completely since domination leads to stagnation. I’m thinking of a sense of system balance from Homer Wilson Smith’s “change and survival are DICOMs…” assertion wrt predator / prey models & Julia sets here. As an intelligent coder in the UK there’s almost no chance SN wasn’t aware of HHGTG and the significance of 42 in popular culture & humour-tinged philosophy. I don’t have the benefit of the SN scholars here but the tone feels right to me.
