Any pictures or accounts I held online with my actual face anywhere on the account have disappeared. The only thing I can find is a photo in an archive of a magazine page announcing my birth. I also seem to have 2 different credit scores.. ...and owe a huge amount of taxes in the states??! I have a good idea why this was done, as a way to cover thieves tracks...but how to stop it is getting too complicated as my crypto assets have been somehow taken, utilized and at this moment at least unreturned by the big exchanges outside Canada. A companion theory if you’ll permit me to indulge. I love OP’s take but for a smart man it’s just as likely to be a confluence of ideas that led to this decision. I recently read a theory that Douglas Adams’s 42 as being the answer to life, the universe and everything was a nod to 42 being the ASCII code for * or asterisk used in coding to represent all such as in SQL - SELECT * FROM…. What if 21 was a middle of the road figure out of a desire to not dominate a system completely since domination leads to stagnation. I’m thinking of a sense of system balance from Homer Wilson Smith’s “change and survival are DICOMs…” assertion wrt predator / prey models & Julia sets here. As an intelligent coder in the UK there’s almost no chance SN wasn’t aware of HHGTG and the significance of 42 in popular culture & humour-tinged philosophy. I don’t have the benefit of the SN scholars here but the tone feels right to me.

We have some idea. I don’t have the messages but SN discussed whether BTC may become a global currency and what the global money supply was at the time, estimated to be between $20-25tn. Supposing an eventual price of perhaps $1m what would the supply need to be. It is likely this together with some of the other answers people have provided in this thread.

They where incredibly busy working 4 jobs at once (one being BTC) so had no real spare time. Then there's the chance they were "made to forget" by some people most would be terrified. They may have recently remembered. Things might get spicy soon. The real quest is what will the world do to SN if they reveal themselves?

Ha, no that's not how things work in the real world. Bad things might happen but not anywhere near the level of what happened to SN from they're own family who did unspeakable things to silence them and try and steal their identity and wallets. It takes someone incredibly strong to survive let alone function. Feeling great assumes healing of past events has happened. There are somethings that just aren't forgivable. That's an address, not a wallet. And if it sends anything out that just means the sender has the priv key, not that the sender is SN. Is there some kind of strong evidence that it is SN's address and the key has not been made available to someone else?

Mentions:#SN

No one knowing is incorrect. The people involved in the project know. There are likely more than 10-20 people who know. Then there's a chance several government intelligence agencies know. Whilst everything about SN was designed to be ambiguous and untraceable SN is not American, British English is a big hint which may have been the default language on his word processor. For example CW knows who but did some bad things to SN 16 years ago and is likely a tad scared of the real SN who may have had serious underworld links at the time. Have you ever considered the reason SN went quiet was not by choice but by shady people around them who tried to exploit the situation by drugging them to try and steal.

Mentions:#SN

No one knows SN's actual nationality. It's all speculation based off how the individual would spell certain words (used the British spelling for words like 'favorite' and 'color'). Considering that could've also been done intentionally to throw people off, it's not enough to go on. When the individual would post on the P2P forum, there was a pattern of a "black out" period between the hours of 12am EST - 6am EST where the account wouldn't be posting. It's presumed that's because the owner of the account was sleeping at that time. But, again, that doesn't mean anything, either. If someone really wants to conceal their identity online, they would be sure to carefully think about everything that can be used to try to figure out who they are, right down to posting patterns. It's no telling who Satoshi Nakamato is.

Well said. Bitcoin is propped up by brainwashed maxis. I was once told by one that bitcoin for him was a “lifestyle”. When questioned what that really meant … crickets. Buy and hold. At least you can wear gold. Gold in our electronics. Heck, you can even eat gold, but sure BTC is a “hard asset”. Dumbest crap I’ve ever heard. Furthermore, SN’s vision for BTC was a p2p cashless system. BTC has sorely failed at that and maxis have gloriously repackaged it into a dream for … store of value? Like WTAF? Then they proceed to 💩 on every other chain that’s actually advancing technology. Oh the asininity.

The seed phrase is used to **generate** the public key (wallet address) and the private key (the key used for signing transactions). The keyword is "generate". Let's simplify the maths this way, might help make it easier to understand. Say, the formula for generating the public and private key for seed number SN is simply public key = 123456789 x SN private key = 987654321 x SN And say, SN is 100, so public key is 123456789000 and private key is 98765432100 The signing code would use the private key to sign the transaction together with the public key by using a formula to check if the keys match. Say, check if (pubkey + prvkey)/SN = 1111111110 => keys match, transaction approved. So using the above extremely simplified example, the seed phrase which would resolve to a seed number SN, is ultimately used by whichever wallet is used to perform transactions. But such transactions are then validated by nodes and miners to make sure that they are valid and rejected if they are not. So neither the seed phrase nor the resolved seed number is stored somewhere out there but is stored either in the software wallet app or in the hardware wallet itself. Hopefully the above simplification explain how it would work in a new device. As to how it is made to be unhackable or less hackable, given enough resources, both software and hardware wallet can be hacked. Hardware wallet has hardware encryption and usually failsafe code to wipe out its own memory if tampered with. Software wallets are easier to be hacked as its data contents are in the mobile or pc memory and more readily accessible / hackable.

Node is a node, with a reference wallet implementation in it. It's great. But not necessarily better than electrum or sparrow. It is better than blockchain and coinbase. You can see why running a node is a benefit if you want to, but that isn't always necessary. Do not post how much you have. Whatever it is should be secured by a hardware wallet. Clearly.... The block size is such for very good reasons. The fact you have to bid for a transaction onchain is a functional feature, only not working optimal yet due to the extreme low number of transactions taking place in combination with extreme low value being transacted by the average transaction. All of this reasoning can easy be found and shouldn't be hard to understand by most. Onchain transactions are ment for substancial amounts were the highest safety is needed at insane speed, without anyone being able to interfere, and being a direct settlement. The only transaction that comes close to it is the fysical transfere of goods and if we talk about substancial amounts it is either big in volume (truck, plane, boot) or we talk about gold, diamants etc. Next problem is agreeing on quality etc, and the risks, costs and time involved and all are insane compared to Bitcoin. The fact that we the pleb won't transact a lot, for long onchain is just another step in the evolution. For small transaction we have Lightning and no idea of what will be coming the next years. On chain transaction should be seen as the replacement of the current gold transports, with armed guards etc. If you don't use these now don't expect to be doing many onchain transactions in the future. No one understanding Bitcoin has ever reasoned everday transactions will take place onchain. Even SN has explained that is not the intention and obvious impossible. You reasoning about it is just that.

> tried to liquidate their assets in stocks or real estate, they’d lose money by doing that That’s certainly not true. Yes, they cannot liquidate their equity for cash at the nominal value because large market sell would depress the market. I’m sure that’s what you meant. But even so, selling below nominal value is not “losing money”. The amount of dollars that those people *paid* for those stocks is $0; stocks are part of their CEO compensation. Selling them for any value, even below market value, is not losing money, it is profitable. The same is true of BTC. If SN tried to sell his stack and could “only” yield $50 billion instead of $100 billion, he’s still $50B richer than he was before - didn’t lose a dime, quite the opposite. At some point these numbers become imaginary. In a hyper conservative index fund like VGRO, yielding 2.3% dividend per year plus annualized growth (CAGR>5%), the dividends alone on Satoshi’s stack would pay him in excess of $6,000,000 per day in perpetuity. This level of wealth is fictional. The mind cannot comprehend numbers this large. Losing a tremendous portion of that wealth would diminish quality of life not a bit.

There’s just no reason to gamble on which blockchain will win when Chainlink will connect them all. They have strong fundamentals. Team consists of top computer scientists & former Google execs. Sergey Nazarov is literally on the list of people who could be Satoshi. (Btc inventor). Just days before Satoshi published BTC white paper, Sergey registered the “smart contract.com” domain. So regardless if he is SN or not, he’s been in crypto since the creation of Btc. $Link has over 2k partnerships with major companies. Including the DTCC (plans to tokenize the stockmarket), Swift (financial messaging service for over 11k banks), Even BRICS have Chainlink listed in their plans. Others include JP Morgan, Intel, Microsoft, Google cloud, Oracle, Mellon, Anz Bank, etc etc. Almost everything is moving onto blockchain. Banks, Gaming, Gambling, Insurance, Real Estate, Derivatives, etc. Most banks & major companies will have their own blockchains. Just look at recent announcements from Sony, JP Morgan, Citi etc. Chainlink is NEEDED for all of them to be able to interact. Also, speaking of Citi, they predict Chainlink will take prominence over Bitcoin. They are positioning themselves to be critical infrastructure. Even the WEF has mentioned Chainlink as part of the 4th Industrial Revolution. $Link is only $14 right now. It hasn’t run yet. The ISO 20022 deadline for banks is Nov 2025. Everyone is going to be operating on chain afterwards. $Link has potential to be worth thousands per token once that transition is complete. You can also stake & collect over 4% + air drops = No need to ever sell your tokens.

Let's say picking out addresses with early unspent mining rewards will also affect someone else's coins and it's just collateral damage. Pools and miners could drop transactions with those addresses. But not all pools and miners will do that. Some are quite independent. It only takes one that will not filter.
