Your own seed has thousands if not millions of these child seeds (technically, it's millions, but some hardware wallets make it easy to access the first thousand or ten thousand. Blockstream Jade, for example, makes it easy to look up any of your seed's first ten thousand child seeds). I mean, seriously. Let's get real here. What are the odds that an attacker who finds your seed words would not only be familiar with multisig, but would also know that you're using child seeds of the seed he found as your multisig seeds? The odds of that are zilch. But let's say you got drunk one night and told somebody you're using BIP85 for multisig, and that guy breaks into your home to find your seed words... He doesn't know what kind of multisig you're using (2 of 2? 2 of 3? 3 of 5?) and he doesn't know which child keys you're using. For example: I haven't committed to using multisig yet. I'm currently using singlesig with a very strong passphrase (8 words with spaces). BUT... if I do multisig, here's how I would do it. I'd get a 24 word seed phrase, and I'd write down 26 words. Yes, 26. The first 24 would be my seed words, and the last two would be words that are meaningful to me which tell me what 2 BIP85 index numbers are the child keys I'm using for multisig. For example, the word Orion is 113 for me. The reason why is irrelevant. I'll always know Orion is 113. The word Autumn is 55. Eagle is 1025. Grant is 6. Wolf is 889. It's not some sort of mathematical equation. It's just stuff from my past that I'll never forget. OK... so let's address your question: > How is this better that having all your funds in that single seed? Storing your coins at a single seed is a terrible idea. If somebody finds your seed words, they have the keys to your coins. Storing your coins at a single seed plus a strong passphrase is an excellent idea. If somebody finds your seed words, they have access to nothing, since you're the only one who knows you're using a passphrase, and you're the only one who knows what your passphrase is. Seed with a strong passphrase? Rock on! You're secure! Storing your coins using a multisig wallet can be even stronger security. If an attacker finds your seed words, they have access to nothing unless they find all of the sets of seed words for your entire multisig wallet, because in order to access your coins, they have to rebuild your multisig wallet. Assuming you've secured your sets of seed words properly, there's no effing way an attacker can access your multisig. Multisig is also fantastic for specific use cases, like estate planning and shared custody. A 2 of 3 key wallet can only be accessed if 2 of the 3 key holders agree. That being said... multisig is also massive overkill for most users - including myself. In my opinion, your best bet is a single seed with a strong passphrase. A strong passphrase is at least 5 words long with spaces. Why do I say "with spaces"? Now... maybe you're thinking... "But isn't a 5 word passphrase easy to guess?" Nope. Here's the amount of time required to brute force a seed with missing words: 1 word missing: 1 second to crack it 2 words missing: 90 seconds to crack it 3 words missing: 2 days to crack it 4 words missing: 10 years to crack it 5 words missing: 21 thousand years to crack it And that's when you know the missing words are from a specific wordlist limited to 2048 words. But with a passphrase, you can use whatever words you want, which means the wordlist is unlimited, which means a wordlist attack wouldn't work. **TL:DR; A seed with a strong passphrase and you're safe!** But, of course, it's up to you to secure your seed and your passphrase, because those are the keys to your crypto kingdom.

Where I live there are not that many conventions so it is really hard. Even on Bisq I find it hard to really meet with people. Could be scammer or something. I have played around a bit with the free Electrum wallet under Linux, but I have not properly used it yet. I was just playing around, to see how the software worked. I did read somewhere that Electrum has support for the lightning network, but I have to look into this a bit more. Electrum is available for Android afaik, but I have not installed it on my Adroid phone yet. I will soon. I was also pleasantly surprised today, to learn that the "Pick N Pay" retailer supports the Lightning Network. I think it would be very cool to pay for my purchases at "Pick N Pay" with BitCoin. This is a payment option that I want to explore, and try out for myself, just to see how it works.
