WOLF shows up in my screeners just about every day. I got some good returns on ABEO and QS this week. I have no idea how well those will hold up in the long term, but the premiums are high enough to be worth the risk, in my opinion.

Mentions:#WOLF#ABEO#QS

Yea, sorry - but you’re misinterpreting I think. What has been stated is that the 130M *is* part of the licensing agreement, and that it *will* be transferred after the preconditions (which aren’t stated publicly) of the licensing agreement are met. At that point in time, we will see their balance sheet increase by $130 - which if you track the quarterly earnings reports has not occurred yet. This doesn’t diminish my faith or worry me at all - but what it does tell me is that the QS/PCo deal, has not crossed the lines necessary to satisfy the terms of the licensing deal - which will release the 130M. But yes, assuming those conditions are met (which I think they will be), *then* the cash runway would be extended. They are currently counting that extension on the cash runway and to your point it is part of the overall calculation of the health of the company - but the actual transfer has not occurred yet, which still signals that the QS/PCo deal… has not quite yet met those initial conditions. This isn’t good or bad news in my opinion, it is just a status indicator of where they’re at with that specific deal. But I believe that work is progressing as expected and to your point earlier - PCo would have probably pulled out if there were giant obstacles that they didn’t expect to overcome, I just take the non-transferred $130M to indicate those conditions have not been met yet. If you head over to r/quantumscape_stock you can see one of the comments today in the lounge is essentially asking this same question of - have we seen confirmation of the transfer yet. Which I’m 99% sure we have not. I do expect that we *will* see it once those conditions are met, but the transfer is the only public facing information that allows us to know they’ve satisfied the initial terms of that deal. This transfer would be big news in the QS world because it would mean that the QS/PCo deal has progressed to another step in the process toward delivering that product.

Yep I pretty much agree with your assessment here. I’ve been DCA-ing and I continue to when I have cash, but I am starting to get fatigued and wondering if I’m throwing good money after bad. I’m actually not personally too worried about them being “first”, at least, not nearly as much as I am in them being reliable, cost effective, and performant (as far as the battery itself goes). The battery market is huge, lots of different types of batteries co-exist today without much issue. My only two concerns are; - can they successfully ramp it to large scale production (the answer to this seems to be increasingly, yes). - can they make the financials work so that they’re showing healthy revenue and profit on the QS books (not only their partners. This I can’t quite tell yet) I personally took the earnings call from this week as good news - they seem to be steadily pursuing larger scale manufacturing and tackling the hurdles that come with it in effective ways. It just feels sooooooo slowwwwwwww.

Mentions:#QS

Call it dumb luck or intuition if you want. Unlike the solid state claims of CATL & BYD that remain unverified, Quantumscape's QSE-battery pilots have been 3rd party verified. The underbelly was whether they could ramp production in a reasonable timeframe that leads them first to market. If you've seen any of the past 3 earning calls, you'll see that the 100+ PowerCO engineers spent the past 2 years preparing for large scale production in 2026 with the cobra separator. As of the earning call recently, now Murata to prepare for worldwide manufacturing that scale beyond 80gwh from the higher end of PowerCO's expanse agreements. QS is leveraging there tech into a royalty payment platform to leverage existing manufactures to ramp their SSB. So in short, I'd DCA if you can because the trajectory looks bright for quantumscape. Especially now that the nazi in chief is proving Tesla's failed demand metrics quarter by quarter.

Mentions:#BYD#QS#SSB

Do you think their licensing model is going to result in enough revenue and profit for QuantumScape (QS) to recover? I have a lot of shares that I’m holding and I follow the company closely - they seem to be on schedule with their execution of bringing their product to large scale manufacturing, but I can’t figure out how to trust it more than I already do. Or how to prove that it isn’t happening. This is either going to be the best or worst investment of my life. No middle ground whatsoever

Adding to RDDT, COHR, QS and SOFI. Unloaded a little PFE

[Here's a quick primer](https://riskpremiumresearch.substack.com/p/qs-primer) Developed markets are expected to have a demand for over 6 TWh of battery cells by 2035. The market is quite big outside of China. Also QS's first generation cell is expected to have better specs than the LG Ultium...pretty much across the board. And that's just Gen-1. Gen-1 offers about a 20% performance boost over legacy tech. The technology's true potential is about 20% above even Gen-1 (~40% improvement over today's technology). AND, [their cells will be cheaper to produce](https://riskpremiumresearch.substack.com/p/qs-unit-economics) Listen, it's high risk. But you're not going to find an investment that has the potential to 50x without it being a bit of a gamble.

That is great advice. I’m currently DCA in VOO 200 a week since beginning of this year and plan to continue as long as I can. I had no real strategy at first(still don’t I guess 🤦‍♂️).. didn’t even kno about VOO before I picked all my stocks in robinhood. I know it’s wishful thinking… but I look at the companies I picked up”max returns” and they’ve done so well in comparison to the market. I am aware that “timing” the market is not a thing. My thoughts were buy and hold forever(I got into most robinhood stocks late 2023 when everything was down..out of pure luck. I just wanted the 5% APY robinhood gold was offering and once I transfers savings I just couldn’t resist to invest). I look at the robinhood account as “money gone”- i still pay attention and try to stay up with the news. Thoughts are DCA in VOO, keep Roth as is for now and next year start diversifying. I’ve been doing a little bit of research and everywhere I look agrees with what you’re saying So thinking my next step would be to liquidate all robinhood wit the exception of speculative stocks (EOSE, QS) and just DCA in VOO.. add more to Roth next year in SCHD.. and lump some in QQQs during the next recession (if I have the money or job lol). Sorry for the word salad, any input wil be greatly appreciated

[Quantumscape ($QS)](https://www.reddit.com/r/QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock/s/TfZ8BIoQV7) would be my pick. The winner of the EV battery space could be a huge winner in the long run. No guarantee that company is QS, but I think they have a decent shot at it.

The cooling issue is true but only for certain separator compounds. QS are using a ceramic separator that doesn't require cooling. The same can't be said for other SSB companies. Regarding concerns of intercalation, VW have already vetted the batteries by putting them through thousands of cycles and have been comfortable making investments on the back of these tests.

Mentions:#QS#SSB
r/stocksSee Comment

QuantumScape often refers to the "AND problem" in solid state battery technology, meaning a commercially viable EV battery must have high energy density, fast charging, long cycle life, safety, and cost-effectiveness—all at the same time. This is incredibly difficult to achieve, as improving one factor often comes at the cost of another. So far, all SSB companies tend to make a compromise somewhere on these 5 requirements. QS as far as we understand is the only one that has hacked all of these. Microvast has the following issues: 1) Still uses liquid electrolyte, meaning some flammability risk remains. QS uses a ceramic. 2) Despite using a better seperator it is still fundamentally using a lithium-ion technology. QS are using lithium metal, which can store \~1,000 Wh/L, which is 2x the energy density of today’s best lithium-ion EV batteries. Microvast doesn't solve the range anxiety issue that is plaguing the EV industry at the moment. 3) Microvast isn't as fast - 20-30 minutes for a 10 to 80% charge. QS claim a 12 minute charge. Microvast does have a current edge on manufacturing cost, but only because they are using existing manufacturing methods. QS are having to design and invent new manufacturing methods and machines in order to become cost effective, but it looks like they are on their way to achieving this. They also have an edge on life-cycles, but beyond 1,000 cycles (QS can achieve up to 2,000) isn't really anything meaningful because you are well exceeding the usable lifespan of the vehicle by that point, especially if you are increasing range through higher energy density.

I don’t usually respond to posts, but given that this is a large forum, I don’t want to leave this unanswered. There are some key inaccuracies in your comment: 1. **Thermal Expansion & Cooling** – QS’s **FlexFrame** architecture is specifically designed to accommodate material expansion while maintaining high cycle life. Their solid-state electrolyte has significantly lower internal resistance than traditional lithium-ion batteries, meaning less heat generation and no need for excessive cooling beyond standard EV thermal management. 2. **Lithium Intercalation & Degradation** – QS’s design does not rely on traditional intercalation-based lithium storage. Their lithium-metal anode avoids the common degradation mechanisms seen in conventional lithium-ion batteries, a fact validated by their extensive cycling and durability data. 3. **Industry Validation** – Volkswagen, one of the most rigorous players in the EV industry, conducted due diligence on QS’s technology before deepening their partnership. QS has consistently hit its development milestones, and their latest prototype performance has been independently verified. Soon we will have 1/2 more OEM's sign up. They wouldn't do so without their own internal testing. While challenges exist in any new battery technology, dismissing QS outright ignores the substantial progress made and industry backing they’ve received. Good luck, and thank you for your comment.

Cool read. But isn't MVST the better play here? They generate actual revenue and have a true all solid state battery. They operate in the US, China, and Germany while QS is only operating in US and Japan. I'm not saying both companies can't succeed together, of course.

Mentions:#MVST#QS

Good Luck I personally think QS will crash - the only reason stock price is here now is because of their cash reserve. In SSB, they have two big issues to overcome - thermal expansion of materials (things swell when heated) - thus they will need significant cooling. Secondly, the intercalation of lithium cause battery performance to drop significant overtime. These are and have been holy grail in the industry. Tough to bet the laws of thermodynamics.

For me, I have two approaches for new opportunities - I open my eyes  and ask people - what is trending (new stores, news items, etc) - then I google to see if they make sense to me - this is how I found Ulta and O’Reilly Auto Parts - started seeing a lot of new stores made, nice profit and got out of Ulta when I saw too many stores. I always ask people stuff to get confirmation - I did it with ULTA (nice ride from 150 > 400), LULU (200 >350) and got out of CHWY when people told me they were buying more from local shops or the case of LULU, my wife and her friends started buying Vuori and Alo. I kept hearing about autonomous driving so I investigated but saw too many issues with Lidar and though Waymo and TSLA were just too far ahead of everyone. I think the LiDAR segment will consolidate considerably and there will be bankruptcies. Home building / renovation was booming due to the pandemic; thus, I decided to play the housing boom by looking at commodity chemical companies that supply DIY market; like AdvanSix (ASIX) - Caprolactam producer used in making fibers for carpets. Now I am once again watching these segments but have not pull the trigger. Right now, I think the home builders have over built. I just drove from NJ to FL and could not believe all the new builds. No way they are filling them. Secondly, I look at the “smart” money like Bill Gates - Breakthrough Energy- what are they investing in and then look for similar companies - this is how I played the momentum game with QS that I am now out with a very nice profit. (90 range) I ask questions because I know I am not the smartest guy in the room. People unknowingly give you honest opinion on things they use and purchase, and this is just one data point of my DD process. I like to add I never trust a bulletin board comment without a lot of verification. I retired early 11 years ago and have been enjoying the good life. Good Luck.

So much has happened. Oh man, here I go…  My basic thesis has not changed. Don’t invest anything you aren’t comfortable losing. The good news- they hit all of their goals for 2024. No setbacks since this was posted, all green lights.  The big news from last year is that they signed a licensing deal with VW to produce up to 80GWh, which is about a million cars. This deal included a prepayment of royalties once technical benchmarks have been met (more on that later). Basically, they wanted dibs and reserved their spot to get them first. They sent a team of 150 people from Germany to QS in San Jose to create a template of a full factory line, not just the QS ceramic separator. When I originally posted this, the big piece missing was cost. That’s been answered and they’re expecting it to cost less to produce than current batteries. This was a huge step for me.  By not having an anode, the battery requires less materials to produce and eliminates graphite, a costly ingredient.  For context, all current batteries need graphite which is supplied by China who control 97% of the market.  This is great news because it not only makes QS batteries less expensive, it means we’re no longer dependent on China. Instead they have multiple supply chains on different continents for their battery components.  The other big notable concern - can the manufacturing processes be scaled? They supposedly had a manufacturing breakthrough and announced a two-stage process to reach high volume cell production.  First step was a heat treatment process they called Raptor that sped up their ceramic separator production by 10x. Also improved yields and reliability. Raptor is still considered low volume, but it would prove the new manufacturing process could work.  The second stage is called Cobra. This is the end goal - high volume. That equipment is the same tech as Raptor, but now sped up approx 10x and takes up a fraction of the floor space.  From the recent ER, their original process took days, Raptor reduced that to hours, and now Cobra is minutes. Exciting stuff.  Raptor was successfully validated in 2024 and B-samples were shipped to customers for testing. VW has to validate these results, which they’ve done several times now with A0-A2 samples. I am confident that this will be the same. Meanwhile VW is charging ahead with building factories in Canada, Spain, and Germany. The final 2024 goal was to assemble the equipment for Cobra and start producing separators with it.  This is a big deal as Cobra represents the final step to reach mass production. Basically, if Cobra works, that’s it. It’s done. You can populate factory floors with that exact equipment and achieve GWh scale.  You may have heard QS just announced 4th quarter results and laid out their goals for 2025. While I wasn’t expecting anything major they confirmed Raptor was a success and they are satisfied with yields and reliability. Cobra is up and running and they “like what they’re seeing.”  What I was most excited to hear is that they expect to sign deals with additional OEMs this year. They’ve been talking to 6 plus companies, and said they are in active negotiations with two.  Second big thing, the B-samples they produce on Cobra equipment will be used in their launch vehicle, which they expect to announce by end of year for a 2026 release. End is in sight. M One of the Negatives from the ER - they did a modest amount of stock dilution to get their cash runway to mid-2028.  A couple caveats to all this: I have a high degree of trust with this company. I could be wrong. Maybe they can’t figure out how to get Cobra up to full capacity. Maybe they won’t sign any new customers this year. It requires a lot of trust with the current management team, which is why the stock hasn’t popped. They did hit all of their goals for 2024. The CEO used to run Western Digital and from where I sit, he’s very careful and thoughtful with his statements. But again, my trust could be misplaced. You never know for sure.  The big catalysts remaining:  VW announcing that QS has met satisfactory progress to release that royalty pre-payment. The tone from QS is that the payment is a given, and they want that news to come from VW. But it still needs to happen, preferably in the next six months. The longer that goes without happening, the higher my nerves will get.  Another catalyst is additional deals. A third company signing a deal would help credibility immensely. A lot of people are skeptical of VW’s validation because VW owns 30% of QS. So they see it as ‘of course they’re going to say it works. They’ll pump up the stock and then dump it.” That argument carries less validity with every goal reached.  Third, announce the launch car. So far all they’ve said is that it will be “very high profile” and low volume.  Please keep in mind I am on the extreme end of bullish. Listen to the Reuter’s podcast with Siva (don’t have a link but you can google), listen to the most recent earnings call too. There’s also a great interview with Evercore ISI that is very balanced in acknowledging both the risks and the huge potential for upside.

Even completing Cobra isn't a guarantee of success. They'll probably need to [scale two orders of magnitude](https://riskpremiumresearch.substack.com/p/qs-path-to-scale) after Cobra before they could be considered a serious battery supplier in the market. Cobra, by itself, will only be able to supply about 100 cars. The next two years have solid catalysts, but it'll probably be 2027/2028 before they reach meaningful scale. I think now is a great time to buy some QS, but we probably still have a couple more years to accumulate.

They need production. Been in on that narrative for over a year now. Toyota is already on the SSD battery program (still “in progress”), so QS needs to pick it up. And whoever says 🥭is against EV: if the market wants it, it dgaf who is the prez. The market needs a new battery alternative that is longer lasting, lighter, and won’t blow the fuck up like lithium.

The next 12-24 months are going to be huge for QS. They’ve hit all of their benchmarks, but scaling and commercializing is hard. If they can add more partners and prove out their new Cobra manufacturing system, then this is a 10 bagger. If not, the IP is sold off for pennies and it’s wound down. There’s really no in-between.

QS has developed a solid product that outperforms projected expectations and anything currently on the market. They've exceeded every benchmark set for them by VW and have licensed their product to be manufactured by a 3rd party. Sounds slightly more legitimate than a meme stock to me... but what do I know.

I asked about 5-6 near my home and at work about 45 miles apart. It surprised me. For me, I have two approaches for new opportunities - **I open my eyes  and ask people** \- what is trending (new stores, news items, etc) - then I google to see if they make sense to me - this is how I found Ulta and O'Reilly Auto Parts - started seeing a lot of new stores made, nice profit and got out of Ulta when I saw too many stores. Secondly, **I look at the "smart" money** like Bill Gates - [Breakthrough Energy](https://breakthroughenergy.org/our-work/breakthrough-energy-ventures/bev-portfolio/)\- what are they investing in and then look for similar companies - this is how I played the momentum game with QS that I am now out with a very nice profit. (90 range) I ask questions because I know I am not the smartest guy in the room.

So I’ve not done as deep a dive into either as I have with MVST, but I have half an eye on them. Solid Power’s a ways away commercially I think though they have good partners, QS even farther but with a substantially bigger payoff if they get there.

Polestar 2s, BMW i4, Kia EV6s, Mach-Es, and Hyundai Ioniq are all comparable to Model 3s in price and performance. Rivian is coming out with the R2 early next year. Toyota has an EV Hilux coming. BMW, VW, etc all have more affordable EVs on the way, and outside the US, BYD outperforms and is cheaper than everything. Ford fumbled the Lightning because it has terrible range. Rivian R1s are just as big, priced at the high end of Lightnings, and have 400+ miles of range. The Mustang Mach-E is pretty decent and priced very well. Ford has said they view EVs like a startup and expect profitability down the road, and I’d trust they aren’t completely incompetent. Also, several companies have partnered with battery tech companies like Solid Power and QS, who are meeting their benchmarks to mass produce solid state batteries in cars as early as 2027. That’ll be an absolute game changer

Lol was a trash bag of an attempt to justify why Trump Tarrifs could be positive contributor to QS stock (alternative energy) The Canadian Goverments response to Trump Tarrifs is the threat of stopping / reducing export of heavy crude oil (50% of US heavy crude currently) 93% of New Yorks state electricity comes from Canada. Government of Canada threatning to cut off all power export to New York State and other border states until a deal is reached All in retaliation to Trump tariffs, as per the government of Canada
