We all already knew cohodes&co use their resources at SA , Bloomberg and wsj to help him spread misinformation as evidenced by past articles. Slowly the investors are learning about cohodes & co tactics. Sadly the very things they accuse others of , they are actually guilty themselves. Stock manipulation is illegal and this is what cohodes&co actions look like to me. As far as doubling down today , I agree with that sentiment short funds increased their position as the borrow rate went up and there were no shares left to borrow. Which leads me to my naked short conclusion

All we have to go off is BYD claiming they're built for Mexico and Latin America market, which actually makes sense. US and European brands don't compete in the price brackets they need. Also they claim that the factory location in central Mexico is indicative of the end market. US manufacturers tend to build in northern Mexico which is convenient for US deliveries and supply chain, but not Mexico/SA. In this environment, if they announced an intention of a US sales push, there would just incur more tariffs/import ban anyway, which could become permanent. Better for them to let the trade tensions cool down.

Yeah, in the 2010s I liked this billionaire Space X guy who posted silly memes. It appealed to 20-something year old me. “Yeah man 4/20 yolo” (etc etc). The effect of his upbringing in Apartheid SA is now very apparent and I can’t get behind him anymore. Now, his memes parrot racist and xenophobic ideas. He’s destroyed Twitter and remade it into a platform that promotes the worst people online, including nazi sympathizers. Not nearly as bad as the former, but now it’s clear that he oversells his intellectual involvement in Space X and Tesla. He talks about things he has no expertise in, which further ruins his image for me. I will probably never buy a Tesla as long as he is involved and that’s a shame, tbh.

I’m a NY lawyer, as I said. And I worked on Wall Street. Never experienced a broker that wouldn’t respond seriously to a genuine complaint, especially one that wouldn’t cost them money: and then lie and say (1) it’s our fault that they didn’t follow their published rules & (2) HMRC made them go it — despite fact that HMRC’s ISA page gives contact info to get consent to reverse such errors without tax consequences. Look, I just posted this in case anyone had further ideas. BDT’s shareholder relations people will be back to me. Ombudsman will be back to me about admissibility. HL probably will give me documentation that they sent the stocks as BDT (or maybe just with firm’s name). Of course I’ll write to HMRC. If I remain convinced that IBKR’s US staff put in the OTC ticker I’ll complain to the SEC. All of this will take up IBKR executive time. As for me I’m 82 and have nothing else to do but this and care for 10yo grandson. The issue is IBKR’s ghosting us. And I’ve been wondering how to value loss of ISA status on the stocks. FWIW I have no complaints about IBUK’s trading (margin) account. They’re cheap, they deal in many countries, many exchanges. But the reason they’re cheap is they don’t provide service and don’t deal with complaints. A hedge fund manager I asked advice from said he’s dropping them. Everybody I know in the USA prefers to deal with Fidelity. My daughter has an a/c & a Roth with Fidelity. They’re great. But she has to deal with 1040NR and multiple attachments, then coordinate that with the U.K. tax year and SA106. It gets messy and I have to do it. When I’m gone she’ll pay a fortune to tax preparers. Despite earning low income.

One day Israel is going to have Egypt, Jordan, SA, Lebanon, Syria and Iran all knocking on their door at once and begging for more military aid and the US will remind them of the basics of what Pre-K kids learn about functioning amidst people who don't like you.

TLDR; Dead and fake people cannot pay premiums. SA is limited to individual incidents, most agents are pretty average. I work there. All the claims are easily proven false through internal reporting. The top producer did write 270K in December, but it was for the entire month. He works virtually and has a team of agents assisting him / completing applications. The production was written over 3 days. He didn't report so that his competition would not know his production. Totally legit. He has a 90% + retention. Fraud is impossible at that much volume and quality. Many of the "lawsuits" have already been dismissed. The DOJ "investigation" is centered around Arias ONLY and old news. Regardless his deal makes up a VERY VERY small part of the company. The "insider" is a moron, who I also know. They have an axe to grind. It is widely known that they cannot back up their claims. That pressure on the ground could look something like this: many of Ghana and the IC's farmers are small operations. They almost exclusively produce cocoa for their livelihood. If one of their trees becomes infected, they know it's lower yeilds each of the next 4 years until that tree dies. A new cocoa plant won't produce for 4-5 years. This would be fine if you could farm more land in the meantime to make up the difference, but increased focus on retaining rainforests makes that very difficult for most. The result is a weather phenomenon (el nino) that is exacerbating an agroforestry phenomenon in cocoa plants (CSSD, and some pod rot). The pressure on the ground, for farming collectives and families, is to get out of cocoa and into something more stable. Yes, South America will continue to plant more. This will take 6-10 years to ramp, even by SA government's estimates. Ghana and the IC are simply too far ahead in the production/export game. Assuming nothing destabilizes this effort (in a region that also has extreme weather, emerging pest/fungal concerns, and socio-economic pressure on the ground), there is still a significant lag in the supply side. Meanwhile, small sharecropping/tenancy farms in West Africa know their competition will be ramping up in the coming years, leading to speeding up of the social pressures noted in paragraph one above. Also, don't forget to layer in the mild complexities of actually getting your hands on the asset without picking one of the few already-hyped-up products that exist to handle the commoditization of this weird bean. Honestly, this one is like hitting 3 curveballs with one swing and I don't know how you trade on this information with money you actually care about, but I'm poor so there you go.

A huge problem in South Africa were the incredibly stupid and corrupt politicians. They had ministers telling people that you can’t catch aids if you shower afterwards or you can heal aids if you buy the health ministers peach tea. In Germany we nowadays also have stupid politicians (Habeck is killing off the industry, Bärbock - the bacon of hope, wasn’t even welcomed by the SA foreign minister for the first few days) and they’re also corrupt (Graichen clan), although not as corrupt as their African counterparts. Another problem in South Africa was the immigration. Germany is also allowing unlimited immigration and pay huge sums in welfare, housing, medical coverage etc to these people. Like in South Africa millions entered with ever having a chance for a job. Same in Germany. It’s a huge drain that will eventually end in a collapse of the welfare state, ghettos, crime etc.

You remember people with flame thrower sets on their cars? Because your initial comment mentions’ presumably direct’ , was that 30 years ago on the internet that wasn’t invented yet people bought these kits direct? Was it a mail order flamethrower kit all you had to is post your age verification or a photocopy? The deal with the kits was - SA went dangerous due to daily carjackings around rush hour. Carjacking was usually a fatality. As an extreme measure a home inventor made a prototype initially looking for investment. He used local news to get free publicity. The story made the news because the amount of murders from carjacking was exponentially higher in 2 years than ever before. The story went international highlighting the breakdown in law and order in SA. The military establishment bought the patent - told the guy this won’t be sold publicly for various reasons.

Mentions:#SA

The way you talk it’s as if you have first hand experience. Turns out you’re reading articles on the internet. I lived in SA, nobody had flamethrowers on their car. Yes the invention existed but was never sold retail to general public. The system as I recall used tanks under the car. Not petrol that powered the engine. So it was flawed by design in the sense of you went over a pothole at 100kph and the tank scraped the floor, you would fkn explode. So again as a SA resident nobody had flamethrowers on their vehicles. I’d Sjambok your next BS assumption into Swaziland

Yes Zimbabwe had a policy of redistribution. The farms stolen tragically don’t produce. Zimbabwe has no economy anymore. Food shortages, power outages, military rule. It does have ties to China, vast mineral deposits, gold , precious stones, molybdenum. So the leaders of government and the heads of military will plunder, remain power hungry, murder political rivals, keep power until it’s lost by death. Farms attacks in SA have been going on since the white man travelled to it from Portugal also French/Dutch Hugenouts fleeing catholic persecution. As soon as they settled attacks on their wagons was common. This is a modern version of it with a generation raised by ANC youth league that openly sings songs like ‘ bring me my machine gun’. This will only get worse as the education level decreases as the poverty level increases. Pray the water doesn’t go contaminated from mismanagement. Pray for it all

The idea that whites own all the good land is a myth. The government owns a big chunk of SA farmland. And lots of farmland given to new black owners is unproductive or has totally gone to shit. That’s what happens when a corrupt government doles out expropriated land to its supporters rather than people who are actually interested in farming

My sentiments exactly. JHB started its mass exodus 98-2010, a lot of people in ATL are from SA. Know the owners of Butler Wheels & Tires in Marietta are JHB boys. Zaytoven gets his rims done by them. That rich black class in Atlanta is pretty eye opening. Haven’t seen such beautiful and glamorous ladies walking around like Buckhead Plaza. They truly excelling in life. A lot of black wealth in ATL next to high levels of poverty. Like Sandton is close to a squatter camp. People won’t understand until they go.

No SA past 40 years.

That's an interesting perspective. And, I'm with you on the music. Ampiano is fire and I grew up listening to Atlanta artists. And no...I have never been to SA so I can't speak to comparing it that city. I just don't think you need a flamethrower in Atlanta. And the crime statistics are not equal between the cities. I spent my teens, twenties, and thirties going to shows, bars, and sporting events. Spent many a night walking around to meet my friends somewhere or going back home. I never even carried a weapon much less a flamethrower. But then again I knew what areas to avoid at what time. I could see how someone that didn't grow up there could end up in the wrong area at the wrong time.

Bro did you eat a dictionary and shit out a thesaurus? This reads like a whole paragraph of juvenile trying to sound educated waffle. Before the white man hit SA you were wiping your asses with grass, worshipping witch doctors who got visions from how chicken bones landed on a floor when thrown into the air. We just bought penicillin, refrigeratation, transportation, mechanization, education and levitation bitch

I guess a lot of people say that the deal struck to end apartheid is what keeps SA from reaching its potential. Very very roughly sketched the white man keeps the good land they divided up amongst each other during apartheid and the black community gets basic necessities for free. So SA spends a fuckton every year on social security but the opportunity to rise up is limited due to most blacks still starting in very disadvantaged areas. What are your thoughts on that? Doesn’t SA need to focus on unlocking the potential of large parts of the black population (25% unemployment in SA - most black due to above mentioned special social security laws) in order to reverse course?

> What exactly is your point? I'm literally asking for data because what I've read from the sources I've given doesn't add up with the claims you're making. (coincidentally I hadn't actually checked that Wikipedia page til now. My link came from something I bookmarked ages ago) Instead you come out swinging, insulting me, and declaring I'm not south African (?) despite me trying to make it clear I was wanting to discuss in good faith.  It would be fantastic for someone to prove me wrong with actual figures that I can look up for myself.  Also, what's with the weird fixation on me not being south African. You got me, I left SA to study in the UK and never came back. I guess that doesn't make me south African any more. Seriously though, I could give you a Google maps pin for my old house in Sedgefield if that would satisfy you?

Ok, but comparing Atlanta to SA is a little much. Unless you went to the Bluff to score some crack at 2am I'm not sure what you saw that convinced you a flamethrower was needed.

Dude you are like a hemorrhoid. You quoted Wikipedia to me. Your stats come directly from a Wikipedia entry titled ‘ White farm attacks’ I lived in SA from 1981-2017. I don’t have to provide you with any source of statistics to satiate your hare brained rhetoric. What exactly is your point? That the murders don’t happen? This is made up propaganda? What exactly is your point. Try national data for a start, you used data from one province in SA Transvaal. AgRiSA may have the stats you so desperately seek for whatever the fkn clown brain point your attempting to make. Again you are not South African. Dont talk like you know what goes on there just because you did a summer camp or two year student visa. Unless you can provide a source that disproves any of my information STFU and think about all those lives lost in murder.

I worked for a company with SA operations for a decade and 3 years ago had to pull out of the market because we were losing so much money due to the Rand being on fire and their consumers stopped buying our products in lock-step with the currency devaluation. It’s being going on for a while.

You’re probably born nowhere near Africa or never set foot there, but here you are commenting about a racial policy that ended in 1990. That’s 40 years. The country had parity with the dollar and pound in that era. So yes apartheid worked better in terms of GDP, because if you look throughout Africa in History no evidence of mechanical engineering existed. That was all the white man that bought trains, built schools, hospitals, sewers. Today in rural African villages shit usually runs downhill after rains the mud huts made from cow shit swell, smell and the human excrement smell is everywhere. I’m not also sure if you understand why apartheid started. When SA was still a British colony, gold was discovered. To mine the gold workers came in from rural areas. In the city alcohol and rural people now in a suburban environment created chaos. So in order to create some semblance of order, so workers could sleep after a shift in the mines apartheid was introduced. In hindsight it resembles the US political climate that still has race issues in contemporary society. So with all that said let me school you other topics that you speak confidently about but have no experience of. I was born in Africa- grew up in SA. Experience is everything you mampara

From good sources the fresh water supply is at jeopardy. Once the fresh water supply stops, especially in months APR-NOV, SA has dry winters on the highveld, no rain fall , no water, then the looting starts. Then martial law, army, economic collapse, currency devalued, food shortages, civil unrest, attacks on whites for causing it all by being white.

> ANC youth party told people to murder the farmers. On this point, I think it's worth mentioning the farm murder stats before people start diving into conspiracy theories: Per the SA farmers union (because the police don't track farm murders separately in their statistics) there were a grand total of 37 farm murders for the year until October last year, up from the mid-20s. This is for all farmers, not just white.   For context, the UK has ~50 in the same time period.

Not necessarily, Rand water is perilously close to problems. Once the water supply goes the issues will accelerate. The national power grid is so weak, if they lost that no surrounding counties grid could jump start the SA power system. Bordering SA , Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola all without the necessary grid infrastructure.

Bullshit - the flame throwers were never allowed , recently attempted to buy a set f Atlanta (makes me laugh how similar ATL IS to JHB) . People usually got necklaces in Cape Town by Islamic fundamentalists for dealing drugs on the cape flats. I faced more racism in Hawaii than all my years in SA. Post 94 most SA people wanted peace and unity. It got worse late 90’s then in 2010 started rapid decent into shit.

My friend married a South African 20 years ago and they went back to Joburg after the wedding to meet his family. Looking out the window of the car, which was equipped with side-mounted flamethrowers to repel pedestrians, she observed a captive getting a gasoline-filled tire placed around his neck; which was then ignited. SA got scratched off my 'need to visit' list right about then, but I'm told things have gotten worse, not better. If that's possible.

I left SA (my parents left, I was a teenager). We went back to the land of our ancestors :-), our family had kept their German passports over a century… Two thirds of my friends left (not surprisingly a lot had kept their British passports, too).  We lived in Camps Bay, the only time I feel „home“ is when I see the Table Mountain.  I came back for visits very frequently. We left in 1987. Looking back this was too early. My father made parts for the defense industry and was well connected. He’s very conservative and was friends with a lot of Boers generals and top managers of the military complex. There was a civil war looming. According to my father the blacks would have risen and killed a few thousand whites. The Boers would have entered the conflict with a nuclear attack on Soweto. My father said that this was not our conflict, we were German South Africans, and now it’s time to be Germans only, plus we had no beef with the blacks. In a civil war we would have sided with the whites, but an atom bomb is not in our rule book. My father also knew a guy who did biochemical weapons research. They tried to find weapons that targeted blacks only. Also not in our rule book. So we left. Shame. Mandela did a great job.  But I never visited SA after 2010, I don’t want to fuck up my great memories.  I get that nothing phases you and I wish my parents would have had more of that spirit.  But I believe there’s a limit to that attitude… Godspeed to you. Actually we’re leaving to Australia soon, Germany is fucking up bigtime, too.  (All this crap about nuclear and chemical weapons is probably total bullshit, I picked this up as a kid when the adults were drunk and bragging and braaing )

How do you make money? Buy a diamond mine in SA for the price of bread. Pay the miner's bread in the weight of diamonds that they pull out of the ground. Pay guards with bread to shoot anyone who steals. I think that's how blood diamonds are done, right?
