So many things are not the same - starting with DJT and tariffs and wars and overall world economies just stagnating away. Other cycles have had punctuations of banning/forbidding, thefts, exchange crashes, supply issues. All of which created much volatility in both directions. Now, BTC is bought and sold every second of every day. It's not reacting wildly to events because there's a bigger market now. It's recovering fast because most of that market still has high confidence. This what we have to get used to now - stability.

As you said, being in UK there's not much to do except HODL or invest in BTC-related stocks. There are services around offering yields (they call it staking, but it really isn't), lending services etc however as a UK citizen you are either geo-blocked from these sites or will be politely declined if you try sign up. I think the US administration has found the answer, every 90 days, tank the markets with tariff threats, then buy low and delay tariffs for another 90 days and watch the markets soar back up. And boy, did they sell. Blockchain data estimates that Trump & Company profited over 65 $Million in the first hour of trading plus between $85-$100Million in trading fees, with the first 24 hours. The Trump coin will eventually lose 99% of its value as does anyone really think that Trump will do anything to protect those who were sucked in? I wont bother with the $Melania coin, but spend a few more minutes on “World Liberty Financial”. Don Jr., & Eric post the various positions they have added to their holdings and in a BIG FU to regulators & authorities, Trump posts “In our US Strategic Crypto Reserve, we will be holding $XRP, $ADA & $SOL”. A minute later, OOPS!, “We also will be holding $BTC & $ ETH, as we love them both”. The fact that the crypto industry was the largest campaign contributor is no surprise as now the SEC suit against Coinbase was dropped, what a surprise given that Coinbase listed the Trump coin on day one. Many thought that a vote for Trump was a vote for crypto, but as it now appears, the vote was for all the pump & dump scams, lawlessness within the exchanges and everything lawmakers wanted to protect the public from. I have a serious stake in BTC & believe in its future as well as blockchain technology, but the last person I would trust, with the amount of leverage & power he has, is DJT. He cuts off military funding to Ukraine as well as intelligence sharing, one day, than the next day he hosts the Crypto Summit. Those in attendance were able to flash a screenshot of their $Trump purchases, and as he did with Coinbase, you get a free pass to rip off the very people who elected you. Trump Foundation, Trump University, Trump Casinos, Trump Org., all have one thing in common, they were either shut down for Fraud, or found guilty of said Fraud, with massive civil penalties, or as happened 6 other times, filed for bankruptcy, & in so doing, shafting employees & contractors out of tens of millions of dollars.

Anything else would create a liquidity shock. 1,000,000 BTC would be one of the largest financial events in history - given the potential effects on the market I'd actually argue it should be done in 8 or even 10 years. You need to separate the players from the game. They really are not important here. In the case of DJT, the topic at hand, it's very obvious that it's 0 sum. The stock market is generally seen as a positive-sum game because there isn't traditionally an "end" to it, and value is generally "created". But at the end of the day, it'll be a zero sum game too, it's only positive sum because it's a ongoing game for a long time.

You are fundamentally looking at a slice of the equation, i.e. the market conditions recently. The zero sum game is the total game, the full lifespan of the stock from inception to death, and all it's players. When the game is done, when you add up gains and losses it's 0. For something like BTC, the game is obviously on a much longer time scale, maybe that'll be a million years, who knows? For something like DJT, the game was like 4 months, it's easy to look at and see how it was played. For EVERY trade though, there are 2 equal sides (simplified obviously), but at the end of the day it's a balanced equation.
You are talking about a snap in time of unrealized gains vs real money/cash. If we take your hypothetical farther and say buyers dry up 100%. That means the market value would drop to $0. Everyone with "stock" is now just holding a bag. The last round of people to close their position while it had value are the winners, and that last person to spend $1001 is the biggest loser. Which is exactly what happens in a pump and dump like this. The buyers/suckers dry up, and the price goes to 0. Market cap is a number that appeared and disappeared from the ether. Something like DJT never had a penny of intrinsic value, it was always a game of chicken between idiot buyers, and when they dried up the price went to 0. You can't just look at the current time and say "look at all this wealth that's been created", it's not true wealth, it's fantasy wealth and it's only purpose is to get money to exchange hands. Things like DJT are very strong evidence of that.
