Which crypto's are securities? The SEC has yet to establish that any crypto at all is a security, and several have been ruled as commodities by the courts. They also don't allow anyone to register any crypto as a security despite insisting they are. That's arbitrary and capricious behavior and is illegal. GG and the SEC are the ones breaking the law, not crypto companies. If you want cryptocurrencies to be securities then you need to 1. Establish that they actually are securities in the courts or through legislation. 2. Allow companies and foundations to actually register as securities. Which laws are Coinbase and Robinhood violating? Every crypto exchange in the US already has to comply with AML and KYC laws. They're all registered as money transmitters as well. If a company is breaking those laws, they get investigated and fined/shut down. That's literally how CZ and SBF ended up in prison. Telling a company they have to register as a securities broker, but then not allowing them to do so is not protecting anyone or adhering to laws. It's a bad faith attempt to just shut these businesses down without congressional action and is regulatory overreach and illegal itself. I would not like equity based partnerships. Now this may sound unfair, but why would I pay my janitor a % of *my* invested capital returns for a fixed duty job? Don't get me wrong, it is a noble job and one that is a cost of doing business. But it is my capital I'm shelling out -- or the capital of my investors who's I've convinced I have a viable business. I'm the one risk bankruptcy and I'm the one that is shouldering the risk of loss. Investors gave me that money (their risk) with the hope I succeed and that capital (and gains) are returned to them minus the cost of doing business. It is a tough market and it is hard to convince people it is worth their risk to invest. That money has to come from somewhere. And yes, those with money are most likely to have spare cash to invest in others and other's ventures. That is how the average CFO would see it and would just outsource all of their labor via service providers. There is already a wealth tax on capital gains in the form of the net investment income tax -- an additional 3.8%. Personally I'd avoid European tax schemes as they are actually less progressive than the ones in the US (mainly due to far higher consumption tax and higher incremental rates). They also have lower corporate tax rates than the US. I think we all know the political fix for nearly all of this -- flatten the tax code and significantly reduce Federal spending. And \*gasp\* ignore the top 100 rich people. They are just pariahs to point at and cry how things are unfair. Wealth inequality isn't going to be fixed by zapping those guys, but it sure enough scores political points. I'm kind of surprised to see this in a BTC thread. Most capital gains are double taxed (unfair) whereas BTC gains are only taxed once -- why argue taxing cap gains here? Having seen BTC drop 50% in a few days, it would scare the hell out of me knowing the government would take my wins -- me holding BTC through all of those down turns, holding for YEARS, holding capital that I otherwise could deploy elsewhere only to pay it to the government (if I win) so they can hand it out to say college debt holders -- the same debt holders that overborrowed over priced degrees in a market distorted by the very same government. You could sell and then watch bitcoin double again and not touch a low cost ever again, especially with ETF's now in play. Looking at the graphs from 4 years ago its easy to think "Yeah GG EZ" but when you have substantial money in the market you realize its not. The real way to win with BTC is to accumulate as much as you can, by 2032 a full blockchain reward is going to be .79 BTC. Having 0.01 at that point could mean a ridiculous value.

Ok: first off (1) do a hell of a lot of research into the coins, join their twtr, join their discord and talk to the devs. Then you know the coins have good fundamentals. Then (2), select only a handful, imo it's better to have 5 coins with conviction, than 20 without conviction. 3: mark support and resistance levels on the charts and buy at support and sell at resistance (if you have only 5, this is manageable). 4: if you don't want to trade, then don't. Hold them until you think the bull run is over. Touch grass, close the charts, don't look at them as the plan was not to touch them (plan the trade, then trade the plan). 5. Its not about bitcoin not going up in value, if you buy bitcoin with debt and have enough time and patience, you gonna make more gains than your debt will cost you, no problem. the problem is with your life situation and the way you pay off your debt meanwhile. the usual plebs have a regular job to pay off their debt. now we see what right now is happening with the economy, a lot of people losing their jobs... Now you lost your job, how do you now pay off your debt? You could lose everything and if by chance bitcoin is lower than when you bought with the debt, you now lost even more when you have to sell your coins to pay off debt & survive until you find a new job. I see people who bought houses with huge debt, they lost their job and meanwhile the house market prices plummed. GG chairs the SEC. He's allowed to talk about blanket market structure. He's not allowed to address specific tickers. The SEC and CFTC have agreed that bitcoin and most of ETH are commodities, and SEC has repeatedly told the industry that other cryptos are securities. This isn't a clarity issue anymore. A common narrative on thread, but SEC is only responsible for things that actually **are** a security.. Gary has no authority to make rules for anything that is not a security. If you think Gary has the power to make "clearer" rules that crypto must follow, then you have to think crypto is in fact a security. Indeed, when something is in fact a security, the rules are crystal clear. Let's be clear what isn't clear. What isn't clear is whether or not something is a security in the first place. If it is, GG is the man. If it isn't, he's powerless. Sure, it's his job to bring enforcement actions... but like a speeding ticket, if you are speeding, you pay the fine. And if you aren't, you don't. Unlike a speeding ticket, the judge can see what was actually going on at the time, and can in fact determine whether something is or isn't a security. This lack of clarity is not Gary's fault, or the fault of anyone at SEC. It's the fault of congress who hasn't defined the word, and the fault of the Supreme Court who - in the absence of legislative clarity - has defined the word in such a way that crypto doesn't like. And it's the fault of clever executives at centralized crypto exchanges, who are trying their darnedest to avoid being subject to securities laws... because who in their right mind wants to follow laws if you can make more money by not following the laws? Unfortunately for crypto, the facts are the facts, and courts grind their way slowly to uncover the facts. Many crypto are in fact securities. Many exchanges have been trading unregistered securities. And many people are buying and selling unregistered securities. It's a disaster slowly happening. The good thing for consumes is that there are exemptions for person-to-person trading, small volume trading, and individuals. It's not illegal to buy unregistered securities. And it's too much bother to go after the little trades on the secondary market. So most consumers are fine even if they have *technically* fallen afoul of securities laws. I'm my mind the ETF approval was just proof of the SEC getting its wings clipped from being able to attack the sector in a continuous cycle of dive bombing and retreat. The dump after the approval points to expectations of EFT being a non-event but it bounced back after bears got burn. However, now that GG is grounded, confidence is flowing back into the market. ETF helps that but with an easy on/off ramp for the uninitiated but it's really all about confidence
