HTZ - I’m changing my stance and really liking HTZ tomorrow; low risk/high reward with them escaping the interest rate hikes. It’s ready to go on a bullish run, especially with new insider buying with HERTZ CEO low key under the radar that’s ready to go on a bullish run. 5.5c is a good strike price to flex over these next 2 days. 🤑 IRBX - this is the stock to keep your eye on, get in while you still can. It’s been up/down a bit but the bears are fked sry. The earnings report next week on 5/6 will be legit. Manufacturing, shipments, everything is finely tuned; profit turnaround expected be remarkable. Hopefully can load up on more shares tomorrow while they are still under $9. Jump on this while you can. If not for the WSB, even for the long term investment. Consider exercising your options if it goes bullish this week. But again the real gainer is gonna be next week. 🚀🌕 ROOT - buy on the dip while you still can for tomorrow; weak bearish movement with the short today… all things considered. Hedge funds helped the bears but, the price gaps are filled. This is ready to rebound, load up for next week. UEC - ban on Russian import of uranium announced, this is going to be a huge boost to this industry. Since Russias import accounts for almost 25%. This is ready to take off again. They stockpiled tons of uranium when prices were low. Now with this announcement and the difficulty with obtaining import waivers. 🚀 CGC - I’m going full bearish on the marijuana industry until next week. This is definitely tanking back down to $9 or even $8 by next week. Nothing but fluff news the other day about all that reclassifying its schedule bullshit. Step in the right direction, but yeah that changes nothing lol. Those my bets for tomorrow. First post here since I’m usually a lurker but good luck everyone.

For those kicking themselves for not buying CVNA when it tanked on bankruptcy rumors, remember the ones that didn’t make it like HTZ, BBBY, SDC, RIDE, WE, FSR, etc. you will not win that game. Ever.

$HTZ calls printed - I'm out. Still in $IBM waiting.

Mentions:#HTZ#IBM

BTW everyone, I've spent all weekend wondering if I made the right plays for this coming week... Short answer is idk about those $HTZ calls but I am mighty confident that $IBM will recover to the $175-$180 zone. I'll post under this comment thread on Friday with an update! Wish me luck regardsemote:t5\_2th52:12787

Mentions:#HTZ#IBM

Simply regarded. $IBM missed revenue earnings but not so much to cause the turnaround. Kind of looking for that dead cat voice then I'll sell my options. Hertz is purely speculation. They probably have room to drop another 20% because of the terrible EV situation they got themselves in. However, I'm looking for a $HTZ dead cat bounce as well and I'll sell.

Holding IBM and HTZ calls? Trying to speed run that account to 0?

Mentions:#IBM#HTZ

HTZ generated average FCF of -$115m from 2008 > 2023. Their reported EPS is much higher than their actual economic earnings because it costs HTZ much more to maintain/replace their fleet than their depreciation schedule accounts for. Over the same 08>23 time frame HTZ has failed to grow their revenue from ~$9b. This means inflation-adjusted revenue has dropped significantly. Rental cars are a very low return, capital intensive, and cyclical business. Uber has not been kind to the economics of the rental car industry. If HTZ can’t make money (accounting for capx>DA) the past 15 years, why would they make money in a 5%+ rate environment? What if we actually had negative gdp for a couple quarters? My guess would be that HTZ returns to bankruptcy within 5 years, before ever distributing capital to equity holders. The risk of bankruptcy seems low in the near term. Higher interest rates for longer are extremely poisonous for their financial position. If rates collapse back to zero, they can probably muddle through without even much equity dilution. I have a small recently initiated short position.

Mentions:#HTZ#FCF

I keep coming back to HTZ and watching. But they seem to keep getting crushed. Definitely long term play. One of these days they’re going to jump 30% on an earnings call. But how much value will they lose until then? Idk

Evidence EVs are a fading fad is ‘rolling in fast’ as Tesla, GM and Ford slash prices The evidence is rolling in fast. Earlier this month, Hertz HTZ, +3.42%, which purchased 100,000 Teslas to great fanfare in 2021, executed a squealing 180-degree turn and began dumping one-third of its EV fleet, taking a $245 million charge against its earnings. EVs tend to sit on dealer lots for about three weeks longer than gasoline-powered cars. Outside of wealthy, trendy communities, consumers are walking past plug-in EVs and snapping up hybrids and gasoline-powered engines instead. In the fourth quarter of 2023, EV doubters like Toyota — which instead bet on hybrids — now look prescient. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/tesla-gm-and-ford-price-cuts-suggest-that-electric-cars-may-be-at-a-dead-end-1091aa16

I see lots of negativity here, and while it's somewhat warranted your idea is not that absurd given your age. So you're 21 and have 40k, this is not a big amount and depending on your future plans you can reasonably expect to be able to earn this kind of money rather easily. Also, 40k is not a lifechanger, it would suck if you lost it but it's not like you would have to start working again or your lifestyle would be trashed (if it is like that then don't risk it, use maybe half or a quarter of it). On the other hand, if you manage to double it it starts to become "something", maybe a good payment on a nice house, something like that. So how do you do it? You need leverage and a volatile asset. Think about how much time you want to wait, the less time the more leverage or more volatile asset is needed. You can choose a more volatile asset (bio and pharma stocks, crypto), or you can ramp up leverage (options are probably the best bet) or both for really stellar results. If you have a good idea about a company or a sector you might use that knowledge to find a good asset. First start could be 3x SP500 ETFs, basically they return about 3x of what SP500 returns. If SP500 would return 15% 2 years in a row that would about double your money, given you invest everything. Pro - it's a whole market, you don't need to strike gold, cons - takes longer. Individual stocks could be the answer here. Check out NVDA, TSLA, HTZ, GME, AMC, they all had a period in which the price shot through the roof for one reason or another. One could make 10000% easily if they timed it right and used some (all available lol) leverage. Find the new GME, find out when it will pump, load up on calls and send me a photo of you in your new yacth. The more you think and research the more chances you will have. Don't forget great returns means great risk. People are buying index ETFs with no leverage don't want to lose money. If you had a million then even 1% return is already 10k, and doubling it would not make a massive difference, so they play it safe. You can take massive risks if you want and hope to be rewarded accordingly, 40k is not that much money. I'd say you have about 7% chance of doubling your money using leveraged products, and don't forget the alternative is that you lose it all.

Hertz's recent move to sell a chunk of its EV fleet could be seen as a red flag for these EV stocks. It was a slightly slower news week as the markets prepare for earnings season to hit in full force, but there were plenty of headlines to go around within the automotive sector. One piece of news that hit young electric vehicle (EV) automakers hard was the announcement by Hertz Global (HTZ -4.12%) that it will sell a chunk of its EV fleet and reinvest in gasoline-powered vehicles. In response, Lucid Group (LCID 2.26%) and Fisker (FSR -2.69%) dropped as much as 17% and 26% this week, respectively, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence. The Hertz move hurts Hertz, one of the world's largest vehicle rental companies, announced it plans to sell a third of its U.S. EV fleet and instead reinvest in gasoline-powered vehicles. Hertz began selling the 20,000 EVs last month and will continue throughout the remainder of 2024. It was a sudden turnaround from Hertz's 2021 stance. Back then, it announced it would buy 100,000 Tesla (TSLA 0.15%) vehicles -- Tesla was down as much as 5% for the week -- and the rental company will record a noncash charge of roughly $245 million during its fourth quarter. "The elevated costs associated with EVs persisted," Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said in an interview, according to Bloomberg. "Efforts to wrestle it down proved to be more challenging." To make matters worse, Lucid also reported lower sales in the fourth quarter this week. On Thursday, Lucid announced full-year 2023 deliveries of just 6,001 units, and its fourth-quarter deliveries dropped 10% compared to the prior year.Originally, Hertz set its sights on electrifying a quarter of its fleet by the end of 2024, but it has since pulled back to better match supply and demand, with a focus on improving margins. That leaves little room for the higher repair costs associated with EVs, as well as an EV price war that has brought down the value of Hertz's EV fleet. Sure, Hertz selling 20,000 EVs to make room for more gasoline-powered vehicles won't move the needle by itself, but for investors and Wall Street, it's just another signal that the transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to EVs is progressing slower than anticipated. This slower-than-anticipated transition to EVs is bad news for young EV makers dealing with high interest rates, high EV price tags, and often a cash crunch. Automakers are even dealing with the possibility that the return of student loan payments, which took a three-year hiatus, could hinder young consumers trying to purchase vehicles. The road ahead Hertz's pullback on EVs could confirm for many investors that demand is waning and that growth will remain slow. On one hand, EV sales during the fourth quarter set a record for both volume and share at 317,168 units and 8.1%, respectively. But on the other hand, the fourth-quarter year-over-year growth of 40% was slower than the third quarter's 49% gain or the 52% gain during the fourth quarter of 2022. While investors in young EV automakers would love the transition to kick into a higher gear, the transition to EVs was always going to take time. Slowing growth for EV sales is simply a hurdle EV makers will have to offset as much as possible through lowered costs and more efficient operations. Investors should also remain optimistic about growth, even if it's slower than anticipated. 2024 will bring more product offerings, more leasing options, more charging infrastructure, and more incentives, and eventually these factors will push sales higher. stocks are continuing to suffer this week from last week's announcement by Hertz that it will be liquidating 20,000 electric vehicles from its rental fleet. Hertz is essentially putting "for sale" signs on nearly 1% of all electric cars on the road in America today. And dumping that much inventory on the used car market is expected to depress prices for used EVs and new EVs alike, especially as analysts are forecasting that the liquidated inventory will be sold at "hefty discounts." Also concerning for EV companies, and the companies that are trying to sell batteries to them, are the reasons for Hertz's fire sale: Specifically, the facts that EVs are turning out to be expensive to repair, and that demand for the gizmos is waning. From a "scorching 72%" year-over-year growth rate in 2023, Reuters reports that growth this year will flip those digits to just 27%. On top of all that, news headlines today are being dominated by the latest winter storm warnings -- and related stories about what winter means for owners of electric vehicles. In Chicago for example, local news is reporting long lines and as much as two-hour waits at charging stations -- where it's about 2 degrees Fahrenheit outside right now. And after reaching the front of the line, NBC Chicago says EV owners can expect to need two more hours to charge up their cars.Even then, the bad news isn't over. Driving away from the charging station, EV owners are finding their driving range is reduced by as much as 41% in cold weather -- a combination of battery-powered cars' poor efficiency in cold weather, plus (or rather minus) the added strain of using the battery to keep the car heated. Read the fine print Admittedly, EVs' inefficiency in winter isn't exactly "new" news. As far back as 2011, you can find news reports citing dramatic losses in range for then-popular electric cars such as General Motors' Volt or Nissan's Leaf. Nor is this particularly surprising. Gas-powered cars create heat as a waste product of combustion. In contrast, batteries have to drain their energy to give drivers both miles and warmth. It only makes sense that EVs wouldn't be as efficient as internal combustion engines in winter. But cold days like today -- coming right on the heels of Hertz's announcement -- are an especially inconvenient time to be highlighting such stories. (Especially if you are an investor in EV stocks!) High price tags, combined with an increase in lower-priced supply, combined with yet another reason to not buy an EV in the form of the weather? You have to expect that would have an effect on the stock price of anything EV-related today. Finally, tack on the fact that none of these stocks are profitable, nor expected to become profitable for years, and you're looking at a perfect (winter) storm of bad news for EV stock investors.

UHAL looks pretty solid, not sure about MSGS, BNTX. The only thing I see with HTZ is an undervalued perspective since their PB is 0.87 but I wouldn’t hold it anyway, that’s a weird one

r/stocksSee Comment

I’d imagine HTZ shareholder value (assets-liabilities) should have tanked recently just from their large EV purchase before the large price cuts Tesla did. All those cars on the line, tanking in. Slye. Not to mention, maintenance on EV cars is far more expensive. A company that has continuously depreciating assets while UBER is such a convenience, doesn’t sit too well with me

Mentions:#HTZ#UBER
r/stocksSee Comment

Agreed on MSGS and UHAL, and I don't think HTZ is worth betting on either. BNTX is way below it's all time high, makes money, is holding a ton of cash, and has a pipeline of cancer drugs. The only problem I see is that it is Germany. SIEMENS was a mess I got into that went nowhere, European stocks never seem to do that well, and there's old saying that the weirdest headlines are either Florida or Germany.

Interesting analysis on $HTZ! It’s quite something to see a company bounce back from bankruptcy and then potentially become an arbitrage play. The partnership with Uber and Lyft could be a strategic leverage point. Plus, the insider share accumulation you mentioned definitely raises eyebrows. Who or what entity decides whether a) options may or may not be traded on a security, a b) whether or not options are traded weekly, or only monthly? I normally skip right over tickers that don't have weekly options, because invariably there's low open interest on those, if any. Then I ran across HTZ, which only has monthly options, but those have a *ton* of open interest. But then I've seen other tickers like AAP, which does offer weekly options, and open interest is just bad. How does that all work?

HTZ also had actual assets, whereas BBB was so deep in the hole that even the upper classes of the capital structure were impaired. Bonds were trading at 3-5c on the dollar before Chapter 11. That tells you everything you need to know to understand that shareholders would almost certainly see absolutely no recovery. And if you thought that the market is wrong on this, and shareholder will see some recovery, then the trade was to buy the bonds. If shareholders receive anything, those bonds would pay out 20x if you buy at 5.

if you think it's going bankrupt, shorting/selling calls is the best; that way no matter what shenanigan happens you keep the credit as it burns. go as deep as you want like -1C or something like that to maximise return. the deeper ITM the short call the more premium you receive. most people can tell a business is not doing well... just that they don't know what can happen in between now and the bankruptcy. there had been occasions where they squeezed a week before finally dying... think of FRC or HTZ...

I found WSB during lockdown. I'm still pissed about HTZ.

From the historical view and narrative of growth vs. value, at face value it appears weird growth is doing so well in a rising rate environment. My only guesses are (1) value is value for a reason and (2) growth stocks also happen to be seen as quality stocks right now. Value is value for a reason: this harkens back to Buffett’s cigar-butt thing with one puff left he can buy for pennies on the dollar. They’re a cigar-butt / value stocks for a reason, rather it be high debt or a low margin business (i.e., weak business model). In today’s rising rate environment and inflationary environment, I can see folks not loving value. Growth = quality: I think the growth stocks of today are largely accepted as the large tech firms. These large tech firms also happen to be seen as quality companies, being seen as companies with high barriers to entry (in Buffett’s words, large moats) that protect their profit margins. While you may not like with today’s cost of capital the idea of eating losses so you can become tomorrow’s monopoly (basically what Uber, lyft, grubhub, DoorDash, etc. tried to do), the incumbents (AAPL, MSFT, GOOGL, and AMZN - I personally think the other tech companies are way weaker) seem like strong plays because of their high barriers to entry vs. value companies who might have higher debt levels and/or weaker business models. No assets stand to do well when the Fed is raising rates, so today in my mind, best guess is money is flowing towards the tallest midget if I’m trying to use an explanation based on fundamentals. That being said, like I said previously, I believe psychological motivators for trading are strong in today’s markets (including TA, since TA is primarily used to inform momentum strats). As an example, nobody should have invested in GME, BBBY, AMC, HTZ, etc., but folks did and I think a few folks got lucky and were right for the wrong reasons while most folks were unlucky and found themselves on the wrong side of the trade for no other reason than bad luck. The overall phenomenon of what happened with these stocks is really an exercise in human psychology. I think given that a lot of folks are stuck on the decision between sitting on cash or deploying, particularly the fundamentals-driven players, being on the right side of momentum is what has been getting the most action these days. My initial suspicion I would explore is how much vol is influenced these days by trading volume vs “surprise” information being released.

You don't know what you're talking about. I know what I'm talking about. Hertz holders had their shares convert to HTZZ when they got put into OTC. The HTZZ shares became part of the Knighthead equity deal @ $1.50 per share. After that, it squeezed to around $8.00. In the end they got out of bankruptcy and trade under HTZ again. The ones who got wiped out were dealing with shady brokers, or brokers that do not support OTC trading. They received payouts in the pennies when HTZ got delisted or the broker sold their shares for them. Calling me out like that, screw you man.

If you just buy 1 contract or $100-200-worth of shares for the heck of it, why not. I wouldn't sell call nor put at this point. Remember HTZ and BBBY.

I bought $2K of HTZ just before bankruptcy and came out $7K ahead about a year later in 2021. Not trying that with bbby.

>Those who held HTZ pre-acquisition automatically converted, even after assignment of the new CUSIP. Critical details left out here, those who held HTZ pre-acquisition received **one-tenth** of a share of the new company per share they held prior. Old shareholders ended up owning only 3% of the new company's shares, e.g. they lost 97% of their ownership stake. Funny how no one ever mentions that. https://www.barrons.com/articles/hertz-shares-rise-as-bankruptcy-exit-approaches-51625078681 "Shares of the reorganized company should begin trading Thursday under the ticker HTZZ and newly issued warrants to buy stock in the reorganized company will trade as HTZZW. The company said the stock would trade over the counter until it lists on national exchange, likely the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq. Current shareholders will get a package of cash, 3% of the stock in the reorganized company, and warrants for 18% of the reorganized company. Some holders got additional stock instead of warrants. The cash portion is $1.53 per current Hertz share. Hertz didn’t spell out the stock and warrant details but it’s expected that current holders will get nearly a tenth of a new share for each current share and nearly 2/3 of a warrant per current share. The new stock could begin trading around $14 Thursday and the 30-year warrants at about $9 each."

BBBY is not HTZ. I made money on HTZZ and HTZ during the nov 2021 run up. HTZ had massive ammounts of assests(IE used cars) that were increasing in value during the pandemic.

ok I only have $10.5 cost basis for 1 short put. Still stings, and would love to not get that, but definitely not coping-worthy bag. Bloomberg is reporting FDIC still wants to avoid liquidating them, so they are now asking for firesale buyers. It could have been a rugpull to make this private purchase more viable. I don't think this is far-fetched. But still, unless we are playing "one final squeeze", there will not be anything specifically for shareholders. It might squeeze like HTZ if a bank announces a buyout, but definitely not sustainable.

why are the stocks even tradeable now that the company is in Ch. 11? in other stocks (HTZ) we even saw "short squeezes" if i remember correctly. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hertz-glo-hldg-debt-sec-idUSKBN23O2MR edit: i suppose that's why: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/12/hertz-shares-surge-by-more-than-50percent-after-selecting-6-billion-turnaround-bid-.html

That’s the same move WSB-tards pulled to slingshot HTZ to the moon, and they overshot for a hot second. Something like the “Uranus Hertz” move?

Sorry you didn't see the candle this morning. Happened fast. Don't know what to tell you. They located, gave my shares and they were immediately gone. I'm glad I got out. Maybe they dark pooled it. Don't know Don't care. I'm out. If for some reason this shoots on a restructure deal, I'll buy again on the way up for a scalp. My tolerance was reached. If it breaks 2.00 I'll jump in for a quick 30% scalp. Before that happens be prepared to be fleeced on options as they will inflate and then go "close only" and they will time it out to expire you worthless before the pop. Just like HTZ. I'll watch from the side lines

HTZ didn't moon until it was all but certain they were coming OUT of Bankruptcy. I would know. Only time I bought anything OTC and was charged $5 to make the trade. Thanks E*Trade. Then they took 4 days to process my HTZQ into HTZ and HTZWW. Still have the shares. I like the stock.
