ION Energy And Their Future In The Clean Energy Sector

Sodium isn't more energy dense by weight. Most advanced sodium ION battery from CATL gets 175 wh/KG. Tesla's 4680(NMC) battery gets 300 WH/KG. Even the LFP batteries get more energy per kilogram than sodium. LFP and sodium have similar lifespans where they outlast the car. Sodium is great because its 30% cheaper than LFP batteries and has good cold weather performance.

Yes, this table summarizes clinical chemical variables that quantitatively separate early and intermediate-stage PD patients from matched normal controls. AI-assisted summary : Maybe a dozen PD trials report on-treatment biomarker effects of some sort. Most historically have not used biomarkers, report only baseline CSF, or don't collect CSF at all. Per ChatGPT 5.2: "If you restrict to: * **Phase 1–3 interventional drug trials in PD**, * with **published human data**, * showing **statistically or clearly described on-treatment changes in CSF biomarkers** that are: * either direct target-engagement (e.g., CSF α-syn, CSF LRRK2/pRab10, CSF GCase), * or mechanistically relevant inflammatory / neurodegeneration markers, then as of late **2025** the literature supports **roughly 7–12 distinct trials/programs worldwide** that meet this bar: * Inosine (SURE-PD) – urate * Ambroxol (AiM-PD + PDD trial) – GCase * Early nilotinib studies – HVA / protein markers (not replicated in NILO-PD) * Buntanetap – exploratory CSF panel changes * MEDI1341/TAK-341 – free CSF α-syn ↓ * BIIB094/ION859 – CSF LRRK2 & pRab10 ↓ + lysosomal proteins * VTX3232 – CSF IL-18 and related inflammatory markers ↓ * a small number of other GBA-, LRRK2- or α-syn-targeted early studies with limited or abstract-only CSF results." MEDI1341 is the most relevant and best results, but it is a monoclonal anti-alpha synuclein antibody being developed by Astra Zeneca and Takeda. Astra-Zen and Sanofi seem to be the biggest players with advanced programs in this area. Note one wants to find increased a-synuclein in therapy-receiving patient CSF, indicating the a-syn is being washed out of the brain.

>It’s also just purely digital, nothing tangible behind it, which is unusual for an asset Something interesting is that you can use it to fully secure USD loans at under 6% APR, all terms fully enforced by digital contract logic that wasn't possible before these networks came into existence. Among other things, Bitcoin is the first digital "thing of value" that you can use as collateral and lenders will actually expect you to either come back for it (or to be left with an asset they can piece out and sell off at will). The 'neat thing' about something like bitcoin is that you need to spend them in order to interact with the network. Maybe you want to write "I'm sending $5 worth of BTC to my friend" (a standard transaction). Maybe you want to write security checkpoints for a layer-2 identity network (Look up Microsoft's "ION nodes"). Maybe you want to write a permeant record of your family tree that you can be sure will be readable in the same format in 60 years. For any of those things, you'd be spending units of BTC to write your data to what's effectively the first "publicly owned" data storage to exist.

You're buying a 'unit' of the system that can be traded in to write 'data' (whatever you want, doesn't have to be a "I sent 0.01 BTC to Bob" message) to a permeant ledger with built-in security guarantees. If someone wants a permanent record of their family tree, they *could* write it there, and it would be guaranteed to be accessible in 50 years time. Why would someone want that? Well, networks like Microsoft's ION identity networks basically pay in BTC to write data checkpoints to the bitcoin ledger. These checkpoints can be used to verify any random 'identity database' on earth running their system has only 'valid' data (ie, a car rental place in France being able to verify that a New Mexico Driver's license in valid).

In the eyes of “America First” it likely means executive branch is trying to shift oil dependency back towards the Permian Basin (TX) and the California Fields, and possibly some other major places. Obviously not great for Mother Earth, especially if people get the wild idea to start FRACKING (which is 200x worse than pumping). Fracking is essentially the last desperate attempt to drain a pocket of dinosaur bone fuel. And it really destroys the water table for entire communities and counties. If a new US soil pump is discovered, that’s technically better than the ION LITHIUM WARS of MINING in MEXICO. Battery powered cars are essentially seeping radioactive acid. Wind and Solar power is the “cleanest” — you can technically wrap old CDs 💿 in copper coil, make a blanket of them, throw the blanket on your roof and viola, solar power. Car exhaust is bad (especially in basin bowls like LA and CDMX). However, the trees and bushes love “clean” carbon emissions. Factories = the dirtiest of emissions (PFI, forever chemicals) Honestly we need to return to a mom-and-pop brick-and-mortar wherein people are handcrafting things for dirt cheap. >I don't. I literally talked about a company that has robots working right now in warehouses and the frontlines of a war. It's Tesla's Optimus that's miles behind Robots have existed for centuries. Robots, that can learn to do \*any thing\* a human can do, have not. I haven't denied that there are robots being produced today that can do a certain specific thing very well, but that's not the value proposition of Optimus. >Waymo uses sensor fusion of vision, radar and lidar mapped streets so that the autopilot system knows 100% what it's seeing. like I said, Tesla refused to adopt Lidar for this reason and then scrapped radar as well. This has already caused deaths I'm not sure what you're arguing against here. I think Elon's argument towards humans also only possessing visual sensors to interpret road signage and events is quite convincing. Why would an AI not be able to perform similarly well or even better when supplied with the same data? >No, because the internal emails of Tesla in 2016 that were revealed in the recent court case showed that demos have been staged and faked at the behest of Elon before. It's not a conspiracy theory; Elon and Tesla just has no credibility in this regard. If you're living in 2016, your sentiment towards FSD is not a surprise. Tesla has only recently scrapped most of their initial approach to FSD in favour of an end-to-end neural network solution, which is already orders of magnitude more performant than the prior statically programmatic approach both with regards to decision making and driving comfort. I highly encourage you to watch some of the latest videos of FSD 12.5.x in action and form your own opinion. I know people who use FSD privately; this is not staged. >Some of the car companies I mentioned prior also manufacture batteries. Tesla batteries merely change the packaging; not improve the technology. That's of no concern in my opinion. Tesla is renowned for their manufacturing prowess. Besides, they will likely outcompete other producers when it comes to infrastructure contracting simply because they're an American company. The demand will far outmatch the currently available supply, so there's a piece of the pie available for everyone anyways. >Also, the idea of LI-ION buffer storage for renewables is really showcasing you lack a sense of scale of this technology. There's a reason why other companies have avoided this. I do not know what you're referring to here as I lack the necessary technical understanding; however, I'd expect a company which has successfully driven innovation in the past to not make mistakes a random dude on reddit would be able to lecture me about. I'm sure there are valid reasons for their choice of storage technology. I haven't looked into the exact valuation fundamentals. However, I'm not seeing any other company make FSD-capable retail grade cars (a product which will be highly sought after) en masse, which leads me to believe that any valuation really is justified at this point, since they're effectively going to have a monopoly. FSD-capable vehicles are the first mass produced, consumer oriented AI-robotis merger product and they will capture the global market by storm.

Waymo uses sensor fusion of vision, radar and lidar mapped streets so that the autopilot system knows 100% what it's seeing. like I said, Tesla refused to adopt Lidar for this reason and then scrapped radar as well. This has already caused deaths. > you've watched any of the recent FSD versions perform on US streets, you know that full fledged, vision-only FSD at this point is only a matter of time No, because the internal emails of Tesla in 2016 that were revealed in the recent court case showed that demos have been staged and faked at the behest of Elon before. It's not a conspiracy theory; Elon and Tesla just has no credibility in this regard. > At last there's their venture into the energy storage business, which is going to see rapid growth acceleration in the near future due to the increased demand for energy availability in computation and storage in renewables. Some of the car companies I mentioned prior also manufacture batteries. Tesla batteries merely change the packaging; not improve the technology. Also, the idea of LI-ION buffer storage for renewables is really showcasing you lack a sense of scale of this technology. There's a reason why other companies have avoided this. > they're positioned in multiple high growth sector Their revenue states otherwise. For a car company, it's actually respectable since profit margins are usually low in automotive companies. However, a p/e of 50 means even if all the tech came to fruition; the current price is overpriced. If the technology doesn't pan out or a competitor gets there first (which I have argued is the case) then it's worth considerably less than it is now.

Crypto networks are starting to be used as secure storage/pickup points for digital security checkpoints. See [Microsoft engineering](https://www.computerworld.com/article/3394686/why-microsoft-is-building-a-bitcoin-based-id-verification-system.html) designed [ION identity systems](https://identity.foundation/ion/) for one existing example out of a handful of experimental, but already up-and-running systems.

BTC transaction fees are 'consumed' by the network (sent to miners for securing the network) in exchange for writing data to the public ledger. Most of that writing is just writing "A send <x> BTC units to B," but it can also be used to record things like network security checkpoints (see [Microsoft engineering](https://www.computerworld.com/article/3394686/why-microsoft-is-building-a-bitcoin-based-id-verification-system.html) designed [ION identity systems](https://identity.foundation/ion/) for one existing (still pretty experimental at last check) example. Or if you wanted to record you family tree in a place that is likely to still be there in 60+ years, something you can do by feeding your BTC units to the network for the characters you want written.

Entities spend BTC units for writing secured data to the public ledger. That has security implications useful for digital services. Microsoft engineer designed [ION identity systems](https://identity.foundation/ion/) are one existing (still pretty experimental at last check) example.

I don't really see layer-1 BTC being used as a day-to-day currency people spend on a cup of coffee. I *do* see other networks like Ethereum and it's layer-2s treating BTC as a type of digital gold, and allowing people to borrow USD against the value of it. BTC is also being used as a base-network for securing layer-2 systems such as the Microsoft engineer-designed ION identity nodes for providing decentralized identity services.

Mentions:#ION
r/investingSee Comment

There is *some* underlying value in the network security infrastructure. Other services like Microsoft-designed ION identity nodes essentially 'rent' anti-fraud protection from the Bitcoin network. Basically, they spend BTC per-character-written pay to write system checkpoints to the BTC ledger, and this allows for 'decentralized' systems (ie, can't be shut down by Amazon AWS policy changes or host government policy changes) to run at a fraction of the infrastructure and security headache costs of the parent network.

Bitcoin ledger is used for global 'security checkpoints' for networks like Microsoft-engineered ION idenitity nodes. They pay the network in BTC for every character of checkpoint data they write, then the checkpoints get used to verify that any node on the planet contains *only* valid identity data. The actual data is hosted elsewhere more efficient, and BTC network only provides "this data is legit, not forged" guarantees in those situations.

Mentions:#ION

If I understand correctly, *some* digital assets like bitcoin and ethereum considered to be commodities since you can't write data to the blockchain without feeding those 'coins' into the network for every bit of data you want written. Most folks have heard of bitcoin as being for sending wobbly-valued digital assets from address A to B- but these network infrastructures are also being used to provide anti-fraud services for non-financial networks like Microsoft's ION identity nodes for negligible costs.

>When you are paying $28K for a bit coin...what exactly are you buying? What can you do with it? You're paying for space on a secured datastore with digital-fraud-guarantees build into the structure of the network itself. Microsoft's ION nodes provide 'decentralized identity' services, but instead of bringing up their own security infrastructure from scratch (with all the cost and security nightmares that entails), they obtain units of BTC, then trade those units for space they write global-sync checkpoints to. These checkpoints can be used to verify that identity data on any ION node on the planet contains only valid identity data (or even off planet in theory- since there's at least one Bitcoin node hosted in space on the ISS at last check). For anyone interested, here's some 2023 info about Microsoft's ION nodes project, and what's the big deal with the whole 'Decentralized Identity' thing: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/verifiable-credentials/decentralized-identifier-overview

I hear you and appreciate your feedback but you can see what IONQa OPEX is and its not obscenely expensive. BTW for transparency I do know someone that has worked along side one of the scientists, how about yourself? Have you worked with any of the scientists that are within the company? No offense but if you do not work within this company how would you know what it is exactly they are doing? My background is information systems security and assurance as well as cryptography btw. Also the way this company is being built out is exactly what you would expect from someone that was a director of engineering at amazon prime. They also have alot of backers and not much debt compared to the significant cash position. Most of the expense btw is from the manufacturing facility side/demand and other expenses, not scaling qubits. As for Chris Monroe there are other scientists that have backed Monroe and Dr. Jungsang Kim. its not just Chris that made these statements. On the call they stated clearly they do not need any money and will be profitable by then. Also when you are a public company you have the luxury of accessing capital through numerous funding mechanisms but in this case as stated before they do not need capital. Amazon, Tesla and many other large successful companies have become what they are because they were able to access the capital needed by being public. Anyway time will tell and as Ive said I have a well diversified portfolio. I own Amazon and Alphabet for their superconducting approach and IONQ for their trapped ION approach. I do appreciate the comments however even though I disagree with you.

The Bitcoin network would require the same amount of energy for 1 user, 0 users, or 100,000,000 users. The electrical costs (which can be *significantly reduced without harming network security) is a base-cost for digital fraud protection services. Those services can be hired out to secure any number of higher speed networks without any increase in energy cost to the base network. One existing example is [Microsoft's ION nodes](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/microsoft-launches-decentralized-identity-platform-223201801.html), which provide global (and decentralized) identity services that can be used or verified from anywhere on Earth.

Bitcoin protocol is used for securing Decentralized Identity Networks like Microsoft's ION nodes. They pay per-character to use the blockchain as a globally available checkpointing system that can be used to verify any ION node on Earth (or in space) contains only valid identity data. This sort of thing is essentially the BTC network acting as a 'digital fraud protection' rental service, where other services pay small amounts to borrowing the existing electrical security infrastructure without adding to the cost of running the base network.

Something kinda cool is that once a single network exists, all kinds of other systems can effectively 'rent' security from the original network at no extra energy cost. For example, [Microsoft's ION nodes](https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/identity-standards-blog/ion-we-have-liftoff/ba-p/1441555) provide identity services and use Bitcoin network to provide network security at no extra energy cost to the original network, saving the ION network a *load* of time, effort, and security headaches. Also, if energy prices jumped and knocked out like 3/4 of BTC miners overnight, the network would run slower for about 14 days, then it'd be back to the regular schedule from there out with little consequence to overall network security. The electrical cost right now is kind of like someone put out an offer for security guards, and more applicants than necessary showed up and started doing the job - which lowers the pay for each 'guard' until enough leave that some kind of equilibrium is reach.
