Will do man! I have stayed in the midstream space for a while and recently added KGS. Upstream NGL production I am potentially interested in.
I avoid upstream oil plays personally. Too much boom and bust with WTI dependence. I stick with the vertically integrated, CVX is my preferred. I prefer pure play natural gas names. Upstream would be EQT. On the midstream side I like KMI, although WMB is solid as well. I like KGS for compression services as they are pure natural gas play in the Permian only, focusing on high horsepower, high margin equipment. Their debt level I am not thrilled for but it’s a capital intensive business. I might get out and jump over to NGS. NXT is a great company, I just never pulled the trigger. Might add some but not sure what is a good entry, see it’s down a bit today.
Anyone have any take on Kodiak Gas Services (KGS)? I haven't been big into any upstream O&G, but this isn't an E&P company. They own and operate gas compression in the Permian for both crude and natural gas. The balance sheet has been improving and they have sold off lower head units for high-compression due to more favorable margins. It pays a fairly sizeable dividend, which I'm not super happy about but its well covered with EPS...since more of the demand is contracted its fairly stable moving forward. Considering most of the new data centers are either being built in Texas or within the operating NG pipelines, compression will continue to be in high demand, especially since natural gas will be the go-to power supplier for data centers for at least the next 18-24 months.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I was looking to get back into some natural gas tech stocks like APD and KGS. But if gas prices are going up due to a supply crunch, then I presume those stocks wouldn't be a good option since they'd actually benefit from increased supply? I'm new to this area so it's not clear to me... Is a midstream provider like EPD a better option? I'm not sure about land-owners/exploration companies like VTS, GRNT, LB, etc.
Agreed. I've tried to play the NG trade but it's hard for me to keep up with all the news and geopolitical cause/effect. I owned APD, LNG, CNX, KGS, etc in the past. Looking to get into a portion of those again in the future. Looks like NFE took a big hit today though. The swing trade bottom may be back in play soon
Sucks for the bankrupt natural gas bull. I thought LNG hopefully has a pretty good run coming? I'd been holding KGS, APD, CNX, LNG..but sold out recently. Still eyeing LPG but not sure when that's bottoming out. Too much trade instability now.
hey! there is a dipp in Kodak gass service and I est it springing over the next 12 mo ticker symbol KGS
Since I haven't seen it mentioned, Kodiak Gas (KGS) could be a play. Per their website: "Kodiak is a leading provider and operator of large horsepower contract compression in the United States. Our compression infrastructure is critical to our customers’ ability to reliably produce natural gas and oil to support growing global energy demand. **We are a market leader in the Permian Basin**, and serve all major producing basins in the United States. Kodiak also offers solutions to design and construct compressor stations. Our partnership-focused business model positions us as the preferred contract compression operator for our customers." I bought a small position after they IPOed last year and it's up almost 60%.
Short KGS, NU, ASTS, EAT, AMCR, WMT Long XP, BEKE, MNDY, FTRE
Interesting! Thanks for the links I'll check them after work. I've been in a couple of natural gas stocks for a while (KGS, APD, CNX, LNG) but not much oil and no geothermal.
Anyone in KGS, Kodiak gas service? They are in the natural gas service space, renting gas compression equipment. Natural gas production seems to have a long future and they've been steadily growing revenue. There was also a fair amount of insider buying recently. Unrelated, but Evolution AB is down again on above average volume. I hope this is capitulation, but still one of the best values in the market, imo. I'll try to add more soon.
What do you think of KGS or Kodiak Gas Services, they're the leading provider of natural *gas* contract compression services. Operating out of South Texas too. IPO'd not too long ago and has been doing amazing price wise since. Am holding long term personally.
XOM went up for the first time in like two months. Energy, maybe? I mean, who the fuck knows at this point. NVIDIA was dropping, and my two oil and gas were going up XOM/KGS all while crude and natural gas were falling in price. Shit's regarded.
These are my only significant bets....some little ones on GE, MSOS, and KGS
I picked up some PAA calls and they are doing very well. ET and KGS too.
Nice! Can't go wrong with either of them. I've just started an initial position in CNX (after hours today) thanks to your recommendation. APD and KGS are my other natty gas plays so this completes my trio.
I remember this topic from a few months ago. At that time, someone mentioned KGS. It’s a natural gas compression service company that isn’t really relying on LNG price. I took a look and bought long-dated calls. Happy I did, this one looks like a solid bet. Now I buy each dip to scale in more. Wallstreetbets has the occasional gold nugget.
Thanks for the rec! I'm in KGS and APD (got in after the recent dip). Will look into this one as well.
My boy KGS took a dive today 🥲
$KGS call easy money
Will KGS surprise us all and 🚀🚀 tomorrow? Doubt it but I can dream, right?
KGS was stupid, I was up before close too. Maybe it’ll V before expiration 3/15 and I can get a positive return. All my hope is in KR this week!
Of course I bought KGS and VSCO calls today.. hoping KGS keeps that V going AH
Lmaoo people who bought VSCO and KGS calls
The only good bear is a Kodiak. Go KGS
Already played VSCO puts and cashew out this morning when stock rised (should have hodl). Whats this KGS? Calls you think?
Anyone playing KGS or YEXT?
I bought shares of KGS the other day, had no clue about the puts and that they were gonna dilute the shares, would you recommend selling now, considering it’s at 26$ and buy in again later or just keep a hold of my shares ?
KGS - Im buying calls. Good contract compression company (oil and gas services). insane revenue and growth.
KGS. Is gas compression sexy? no. well, maybe. But does it print money? Absolutely, and it doesn't even matter what the price of LNG is because operators will always need gas compression. They own the market and are at max capacity quarter after quarter. They are going to crush earnings. And it's not priced in- analysts give them a price target of 25. It's higher already and showing no signs of slowing down. They beat on earnings every quarter by 80-115% EPS. Buy long-dated calls because even if it misses, this is a good long-term hold. The only downside is the liquidity on contracts is dogshit, so be aware of the spread.
KGS
Bullish on industry, but KGS is the top dog in my eyes. Kodiak, Archrock, and USA Compression are the biggest players. Kodiak is buying CSI (smaller player) to expand their fleet and will be the biggest by horsepower. Kodiak is different from others because they own their entire fleet, whereas Archrock has a fleet but also services customers who own compressors. There’s higher margins in your own fleet vs aftermarket services. Kodiak is maxed out on capacity (similar to NVDA situation) so they have pricing power to negotiate favorable contracts. They run pretty much exclusively Caterpillar engines, and CAT is maxed on capacity for large engines with lead times over a year out. Large engines (1000+ hp) are where the money is at.
Natural gas play for me is Kodiak Gas Services $KGS. Contract gas compression provider that isn’t impacted by gas prices as their compressors have to be used by oil companies to transport the gas either into a pipeline or back into a well to extract more oil. They’ve been at 99% utilization rate for years now and that trend is likely to continue with the Permian still expanding.
I need to look into NG pipeline/shipment stocks, but I did recently open positions in KGS and APD.
I've been looking at nat gas stocks as well. Was also eyeing KGS. Haven't owned either yet though.
Here's a potentially degenerate idea: Play an IPO from today. On the menu, just fresh off the oven, Fidelis Insurance (FIHL), Kodiak Gas Services (KGS), and Savers Value Village (SVV). You could also hunt [Chinese fashion retailer Shein and her upcoming IPO](https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL4N38L313). Here's the thing. The IPO market seems to be gradually thawing out with nearly 50 deals pricing so far this year (according to JEF). For some perspective, there were only about 70 IPOs in all of 2022. It's a modest increase, but if the big wigs are advising these companies to IPO now, then they're not expecting them to fall off a cliff. You can check CAVA and ATMU as references of recent IPOs. I'm a short-term swing trader, so this isn't my setup. But if you're a position trader, why not do some reearch and throw some money at one or two?
