Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (SUN.NS), opens new tab will buy U.S. drugmaker Organon & Co (OGN.N), opens new tab in an all-cash deal valued at about $11.75 billion including debt, for ‌the largest overseas acquisition by an Indian pharmaceutical company. The move comes as Sun, India's biggest drugmaker by market value, steps up a push into higher-margin specialty medicines with a sharper focus on areas such as dermatology, oncology and obesity to offset declining U.S. sales.

I’m drawn to CVA’s valuation and high yield, but its giving me flashbacks to KHC in 2019— an experience that didn't end well for me. KHC still hasn't figured out how to revive its revenue, and defending against private labels feels like a never-ending treadmill for these legacy brands. On the other hand, GIS' pet food division has an edge against private label. I know pet owners that will spend up which creates the kind of brand loyalty and pricing power that pantry staples just don't have. That said, if CVA actually executes its turnaround, the potential upside is significantly higher. No position currently, I'm considering OGN more than anything, thanks for that!

I spent some time on small cap biotech in early 2025 and concluded financial disclosures alone aren't enough to buy. Most have no earnings and are just looking for the next hot drug. It seems like you need to know their patent application pipeline - which is a lot of work and still very difficult to make value calls on unless you also have some idea of the patent universe for that class of chemicals. (Ph.D. in the space with a J.D. btw) Did buy a couple closer to mid caps - OGN (fortunately exited in early Oct but still see a value story) and VTRS. Also like the larger caps like AMGN and ABBV.

I posted these in the lounge from last night, so for more info can check my history, but I'm watching the following today: PRPL, AGH, WRD Less interested possibilities CNEY, EVGO, BTOG Long plays UROY, OGN

r/pennystocksSee Comment

These aren't as convincing as the ones I posted a moment ago, but just in case they run and someone has the money to put in a lot of tickers. Who knows, penny stocks be wildin. **EVGO** I doubt the stellar earnings are completely priced in, but it is probable. These guys spend a ton on lobbying successfully. **OGN** I believe this is still oversold after the dividend cut as it is currently trading at 1X EBITDA. Insiders just bought $300,000 and $100,000 in shares to prove a point, still 81% institutional ownership, and the fundamentals are great outside of 2028 debt, which the dividend cut will handle. Long-term watch. In the short term, it may continue to climb another 5-10% as I don't think the recovery is finished just yet. Will keep an eye on it. **CNEY** this could dip in the morning and possibly rebound, but I urge caution as they are coming up on their 180-day delist extension 05/27.

Should we invest in companies that sell IUDs? Now that Trump is president, many women are concerned about getting pregnant. IUDs are becoming a popular choice since they’re one of the most affective and long lasting birth control plans. Many have booked appointments for an IUD. Oh, Nexplanon too since that’s also effective and long lasting. But not as popular as an IUD l guess. The Cooper Companies lnc (COO), Bayer AG (BAYRY), and AbbVie Inc (ABBV) own their own form of IUD. Organon & Co (OGN) own the Nexplanon.

I usually buy the dip on dividend stocks if they have a bad earnings, bought a bunch of ET years ago around 4 and it pays a pretty substantial dividend for that price. I had 1600 shares of PFE when it dropped like a rock. Now I have 2600 shares having lowered my basis when it was trading in the $25 range. But I like drug stocks and also hold ABBV, AZN, GSK, MRK, OGN, VTRS and a risky MRKR. I'm retired and like the steady income that drug stocks provide. i don't worry about the price fluctuations as I won't need to sell any of them. I get about $40k a year in dividends which is much more than I need to draw each year to live comfortably.

I hold about 20 dividend payers. Some are C, DOW, MO, OKE, PRU to name a few. My most recent adds are OGN (5.3% yield), TGNA (3.3%) and EVC (9.6%). I think all 3 of these have 50% upside in next year IMO. With OGN, I like their growth in women’s health and bio similarities. The other two will benefit hugely due to ad spending on the presidential year election cycle in the US.

Cap Losses Strategy Question... Thanks in advance for any input or thoughts. I am trustee and POA for my 96yo father and handling all his financial matters due to Alzheimers. He has a portfolio that generates almost enough to cover his expenses, and the rest is covered by me and my siblings. He has some positions with unrealized losses which is what I am seeking advice on. These are things like KHC, PFE, SHEL, WBD, OGN, etc. Knowing that all cap gains/losses are erased upon someone passing away... 1. Should I sell those positions to offset income & cap gains taxes for the remainder of his life? Or... 2. Should I keep them for the (small) dividends they bring in? Just thought I'd see what the braintrust of this group had to say. Thanks again for your time.

Yes, but paper losses exceeding -25% ($MP, $OGN, $VZ) are still annoying. I care about the company being useful more than corporate values, because the latter is impractical. There are many useful companies, but few that operate according to all of my preferences.

I looked into CVS last night thinking it looked cheap, but then I found a seeking alpha article on cvs by Edmund Ingham that broke the story out some for me. I of course confirmed the essential details as SA is garbage. The tough story in healthcare insurance right now is the Medicare negotiation that resulted in a net cut after inflation to compensation for Medicare plans at a time when expenses are really starting to rise from the mass of boomers. The government is really starting to squeeze the middlemen and profit margins. Whether that will be transient or not is the question. I’m long OGN which is more of a pharma company. It’s trading at 4-5x cash flows. The thing about an investment trading at 4x earnings is that the bar is so low for success that as long as the company has ongoing prospects, you’ll do fine. I did a write up on value investing yesterday. I hope you don’t mind that I copied it below. $OGN Organon Q1 Double Beat breakdown Still Long 2000 shares and some calls. Still like the stock. Obviously I’m highly regarded, so do your own research. OGN reported earnings and revenues at the top end of the range of yearly guidance with 3 quarters of growth left for the year. Another plus is that the spin off costs from Merck should be De Minimus from here. If you annualize year over year growth from Q1 out to the whole year, we’re looking at 6.5B of revenue. Women’s health grew 11% y/y, and biosimilars are growing 50% y/y, so even this 4x Q1 number is somewhat conservative. Applying Managements Ebitda guidance of 31-33% for the year to 6.5B, yields an ebitda of 2080M. Management guided for interest of 520M, depreciation of $130M, and taxes of 19.5%. This would give us a free cash flow of $1280M on a company with a market cap of $5B. One of the major concerns analysts whine about is how much debt the company has. They want the debt minus cash to be less than 3.5x ebitda. Well, currently the net debt is 8139M. If we take that 2080M of Ebitda we have a net debt target of $7280. This means if the company manages to hold onto 859M +~290M for dividends, we could see a major revaluation. It trades at 4x cash flow before one time items. That’s a pretty good margin of safety. Revenues are growing. The more money they make, the more medicines they can buy to better take advantage of their fixed costs. They have a global presence already, and seem to be licensing drugs from other pharma companies to sell without having to manufacture or develop them which seems to me to be a very high margin opportunity. I expect the stock to move up in the run up to Q2. I expect that in Q2 management will raise guidance. $30 by Q4 isn’t crazy with the charts I’m looking at on finviz. Long term todays earnings are probably worth $50-75.

[finviz](https://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=OGN&p=d) As you notice, as of December, it started going up, as it also goes to the right. I suspect that based upon fundamental analysis that the blue line is more likely to hold than the purple line. The orange line also crossed the brown line. Which is a golden cross opportunity. I think the company has a lot of operating leverage as it’s a platform for selling drugs without any of the expense of developing drugs. It’s like a pharmaceutical royalty company.

Looks like a pretty good portfolio. You've got some value plays there, 3M, T, GE, INTC, MRK, OGN, VIAC, banks, insurance, consumer staples. Some of them are turnaround situations. High-risk value is a tough game to play, unless (or even if) you have a strong finance and accounting background and the time to apply it, a good understanding of the sectors you're looking at, and a good BS detector. I suggest you practice with what you have, deciding carefully which are worth keeping and keeping track of your analysis and results.
