Well, these last 2 years have been very volatile for stocks too. As an example, NIO stock, which is a big electric car company has gone from $2 to $62 to $27 within 2 years. So we're talking about a 3100% increase and then a 56% drop. Bitcoin has had an increase from $5000 to $68000 and a drop to $34000, which is a 1360% increase and a 50% drop. Please note NIO is not a penny stock, it's a $50B company, almost $100B at ATH.

I'm in a tough position. I racked up some debt and Margin last year. I was waiting till this year to sell off some positions and pay everything down. This year hits and the rally is missing. I've got 3.6 grand worth, down from 4.5. I'm a pretty indecisive guy, think I should sell? I'd have like 200 bucks shy of 1 ETH. ETH actually has a chance of eventually being 100k+ a coin, no? For my 100 shares of NIO to actually compete, they'd have to be 1k a share someday which I'm guessing may not be as likely as ETH hitting 100k. Maybe they're both unlikely, no idea. But I think I've heard more people speculate on ETH hitting 100k than NIO hitting 1k a share and I'm sure iETH would reach 100k sooner and probably go farther than that.

Honestly having Chinese stocks right now is probably riskier than ETH at the moment. If you can sell enough for 1 ETH and hold the rest of NIO you can ride the best of both markets.

Looking for some advice on what to get an initial invest in. I currently have $210k in cash sitting in a savings account. Most of this money will be used as a down-payment for a house I will be building in the next 18 months. I currently have a small amount (~$5k) in NIO stock. It seems that btc and eth seem to be the go to coins for someone looking to get their toes wet in crypto. Am I correct in this assumption? Any suggestions or info are greatly appreciated, thanks!

Its the same strategy I take with stocks though. Weed distribution and growing equipment companies before federal legalization in America. NIO, XPENG, in the electric car race, Ark ETFs. ...It all investing. I don't think I have ever seen a better opportunity in terms of Risk vs reward than Cardano. The ecosystem will grow, that is a fact. If it succeeds then 50-100 an ADA in 3-5 years isn't crazy as all. It is organic growth. The next cycle tells the story. The kicker for me, is that ADA grows at 6% APY in your private wallet and its unlocked. AWESOME. An investment that grows and has potential?! Now on the other hand, it fails to deliver. NOTHING is built that works, they don't go live with the contracts they have made in Africa, they don't flourish, it becomes a dead coin. Which do you think is more likely? It was in the top 10 in 2017 NO PRODUCT, it was in the top 3 in 2021 NO PRODUCT, now that it will have a product what will it be in 2025? Are you willing to hold and take that risk for potential gains that could change your financial status and life forever, or are you going to listen to jackass traders on telegram, reddit, and twitter talking about what will happen tomorrow.......

Absolutely true. On the securities side, markets outside of countries will often list securities from other exchanges (such as NIO from China, or VW from Germany). The thing is, these markets all use “prime brokers” (banks) to facilitate this stuff. Dont really need to go much further than that. Plenty of documentation and court cases showing banks manipulating shit.

Sure, any time a stock splits (off the top of my head Apple and Tesla both ran up preceding the split and then dropped down to, -3 percent for Apple and I forgot how much for Tesla but it was negative, right after the stock split even though a stock split is usually a great thing for investors). Another example is when a company (NIO comes to mind) exceeds expectations for the quarter. The price will rise up before the announcement and dump afterwards even if the results are good. The thing is though you'll never really know if it'll dump or continue to rise, because half the time when a company exceeds expectations the price will keep going higher. I'm considering NIO. On the downside it will have a lit of competition. And is it based in China? Some xrackdown by Chinese government on companies listed on American stock exchange which may cause difficulties for them down the line. But yea I might buy in a little speculatively.

I think you should suck it up and use Coinbase Pro for lower fees. More money to DCA with and learning along to have will power along the way. If your plan is to consistently DCA, then only check the charts when you are ready to buy in again. I DCA when we start to have a bear market and the prices are plummeting. I did this with NIO(stock) and EOS. I got my average price of stock/coin to be so slow be sure I would put 50$ in then the price will drop by 10% then I'll double my amount I DCA'd with originally. I will keep doing this untill I see an uptrend, then I'll sit on it and hold, keeping my average asset on the low. While those assets are hodling because of a bull market, that's when I will start to research different cryptos and make plans to invest in them.

Interesting experience. I had a similar experience as well. I do lot of stocks and crypto. We have a closed group office circle (which includes my manager and some colleagues as well). I kept on recommending them BTC, AMD, NIO etc stocks 3-4 yrs back. I invested lot of money there and now returns are in millions. One day we were chit chatting and it slipped from my mouth that I have 1000s of shares and millions and from that day I've seen people changed their attitudes. Infact my manager said to me once that you dont need hike because ur stocks must be doing well and I had a heated argument with him straining long relations. Lesson learnt, Do not share with anyone about your money. People usually do not like it. As you mentioned most people want you to be like them.

With that mindset no one should ever try and emerge in a sector with competition already. Don’t invest in NIO because there already is TESLA. Just makes no sense, this is an emerging product that will compete in the space. Sure there are other verified offsets sold by other companies, but that doesn’t mean no companies will use our offset. There are benefits to the credit being a crypto and companies will see that. There is plenty of carbon to go around in this emerging market:)

I had a nice group of friends whom I suggsted to buy AMD and NVIDIA in 2016 for 1/5th the price and they constantly laughed off me. I suggested them to buy the stock multiple times but all they did was laugh or say 'You are too young to understand the market' Well fast forward I bought 4000 AMD and 500 NVIDIA. I am sitting on over $700K in profits now but I still bad about their behavior. PS: We all were on same team. Tech guys in Cali. My friends were 2-3 yrs senior to me. The hardest part is not fighting your enemies, It is the fight with your friends who never understand you... Btw I did the same thing with NIO(Bought it at $6), Suggested my friends too. I got into investing in general last year (around the time of the crash) put some munnies down on NIO, took it out with 10% profit and the finished my journey with trading in like 3months. If I left the munnies there for a year it would have been like 1000% profit. I originally had 250k in 2020 in a joint tenant account. Then I got lucky trading stocks I got in early on like NIO and PLTR, and was able to reach an ath of 960k in Feb 2021. I only started buying Bitcoin in April, and the more I read and learn about it, the more I’m mad at myself for not having looked into it earlier! I remember that I first heard about it in 2008-2009 (!!!), when I just moved from Russia to the UK. One guy tried to sell a few thousand of bitcoins because he really needed the money. He said - I still remember that thread on a Russian immigration forum - that one day every bitcoin will cost 2000 dollars, and he wouldn’t be selling if not for the circumstances. He shared a link to the white paper, how to register on chain, all that. Omg the amount of shit he got from the others! They’re saying he’s a fraud, a loser, a conman. Glad to say I wasn’t one of those people, I didn’t understand one thing about Bitcoin at the time, I didn’t even click the link. How stupid! Two years ago was another attempt - I asked someone, so how do I buy a bitcoin? And he told me, oh, it’s very expensive! You can’t buy the whole coin, it’s … bucks now! I was like, whaaat?! I am not going to pay that for some Bitcoin. Last year I started trading stocks, and it’s on Webull, and I asked my bf - what if I buy bitcoin (I still hadn’t researched anything about crypto at the time?), and he said “don’t even think about it, it’s so volatile, you’ll lose everything”. I did lose 30% of my deposit on stock tho 🤣🤣🤣 Finally, after all my growth stocks went to shit (PLTR, NIO, TIGR, MOMO, you name it) this February, somehow, MIRACULOUSLY, I decided to learn about crypto! Elon Musk and all that publicity he drew towards crypto finally made me learn about it! Yes I’m n dip shot with Bitcoin right now (my average is 49K I think), and with Ethereum, but I’m not selling! The key is to have the strongest conviction and take time and learn about it. I never believed in either of those stocks. I sold them all at a loss and I don’t regret it. I’ll buy bitcoin on Webull on the last dip (I’m expecting it to get to 24800), sell on the high, cash it in, transfer to my Binance and buy it properly, so that it goes to my cold wallet. How stupid is that, that ppl buy it on Webull or Robinhood? It’s just beyond me. PS: I don’t believe in Musk at all, I think Anonymous nailed it in their recent video.

Hello, yes I have? Does the price of NIO go down because some guy is pissed off at another guy so he sells a big stack to tank the price by 50% in one week? No it doesn’t! It drops because of battery shortages or more lately semiconductor chip shortages and the company physically can’t complete the volume of cars they forecast to complete in the next X amount of quarters, thus less profit, investors not being happy with potential returns so they move their money elsewhere. My argument was that some asshole sold bitcoin because he wanted to liquidate some other asshole, which then tanked a whole other 3,000 cryptos. NIO going down will not affect Wallmart or Nike or Coca Cola (I’m naming stocks because NIO is a stock). Bitcoin however affected ALL OTHER CRYPTO. Some guy selling his bitcoin shouldn’t determine that all of a sudden that ETH is also suddenly half the value it was? Have you seen this?

It's the US-China tech battle plus Sinophobia that's hurting China. They urgently need money. i personally sold my NIO's,because large investors are turning China down. It's hard to be China now. That's who they are "trying" to shut down the Mining. " Trying", because we all know how China is depending on their fellow Bitcoin miners.
