"For many of those investing in cryptocurrencies, the goal is simply to get rich, not to build a better world." Well, I don't totally agree. The developer community would be offended at this, your perspective depends on where you consume your media (if it's reddit, then your sentiment makes sense). Crypto is a backlash to the constant and peristant failures of the centralised financinal system. Bitcoin was backlash to the 2008 crysis. Why wouldn't any sane individual want to seperate themselves from their source of wealth being manipulated by some old white guy in a suit in the USA? Guess what: if someone hacked your bank account and stole 6-12% of your money you'd be pretty darn pissed, but when it happens without the number going down most poeple have no idea. Yes there are profit maximilists in this market as there is in the trad-fi market. We need these individuals to have an efficient market. But we are building programmeable money, peer to peer financial markets, digital ownership, competing with centralised corporations like Facebook for the metaverse, making our own crypto reserve currencies (!!) and much more. Many individuals who see the APY's and don't DYOR see it as a scam, becuase it's just \* so insanly better \* than the system we are used to. Some individuals get manipulated by shillers, and some are victims to scams, but all in all it is worth it to gain legitimate finaincial independence from centralised governments who \*do not\* share the same motivations as the indivuals who use the currency. FUD and hype can drown it out sometimes, but if you DYOR you can see through that crap with ease.

'Never use leverage' is definitely sound advice for the vast majority of folks. For those of us that would have never been able to achieve what we have today without it, I'm not so quick to say 'leverage is bad, stay far away.' 10-20% APY interest on a loan is peanuts in a bull market as long as you are prepared to exit once momentum shifts and are otherwise financially secure. Leverage can be used responsibly when taking into account a reasonable risk tolerance. And yes, some risks are worth taking.

I've been in crypto for 5 years. I once believed it is paradigm shifting tech but I am now convinced that it is an incomplete solution looking for a problem. The reason it has attracted so much attention is because it operates on a very compelling guise that virtually every person can get behind. But there is no substance. The only meaningful use case I've seen is people being able to use stablecoins in place of their volatile native currencies depending on where they might live. Otherwise, I genuinely believe this shit has proven to be almost entirely useless. Projects which have been 'partnered' with real world companies for years still have zero adoption. Most pilots and proof of concepts are dead. DeFi was an overhyped fad which did not bank the unbanked or accomplish any of its other promises. It's just a collection of convoluted yield farms with pyramid scheme-tier tokenomics. We are all here to complain about inflation, yet with token inflation, your precious staking APY would not exist. Now the market has moved onto NFTs and metaverse which will prove to be another bag of hot air. Most projects do not need tokens to function, either. We also see the same exact power structures that crypto was meant to escape. Almost all projects are controlled by a small group of players. There is still no proven way to ensure 1 person 1 vote without deanonymizing a network. Wealth centralization is worse in crypto than IRL. Crypto is entirely priced against the dollar and that ratio is all anyone cares about. We are only interested in using crypto to increase our amount of fiat. The government would never allow crypto to replace fiat (how would that even work). And if they ever decide to ban crypto trading in a country like the US, prices will absolutely tank. I remember during the 2018 crash and bear market that followed, this sub declared a silver lining. The bear market would purge all of the scams and worthless projects. Fast forward 3 years and the scams, memes, and worthless projects are now worth 10x more and capture much larger amounts of money. That's all this market is about. And people don't care. They are fed up with their economic situation so they will jump on any opportunity to enter the crypto casino. Even the 'legit' projects are no better. What does an 'ecosystem' consist of? A handful of AMMs and DEXs which allow you to swap other worthless internet tokens around, leverage on those tokens, and yield farm those tokens. It is all a ruse. Herba life for tech bros. There is nothing revolutionary going here at all.

I had a stable of stable coin sitting on BlockFi just earning the interest there, about 6% of total portfolio. I've been buying and down to 4%, not much of a dip buy, but feels like I'm doing something. Since it's on blockFi I've been pretty limited on choices, so just been buying BAT and BTC since I had sold off a lot of BTC to buy into other Alts. I'll prob play around with the high APY Olympus DAO forks, a little hedge about price movement and more about time staked.

Those would be my reasons (copying from a post I made several weeks ago):  Eth 2.0-like tech functional today - PoS, sharding; It is fast, fees are minimal; Exciting roadmap with bridges being built and interoperability being taken into account; Accomplished team members (founder is Stephen Tse, you can dig deeper about him); Supportive community; Exciting stuff being built on it already (Crypto Royale, DeFi Kingdoms, etc.); 1wallet coming, where you will be able to get 20% APY on stablecoin; It's getting traction marketing-wise - you mentioned you hear about it a lot, also it was recently featured in Times Square in New York; Staking is easy and gives good returns;

I'd like to participate in DeFi with my stETH but I'm not prepared to pay the ridiculous gas fees, especially as they'll be more than my rewards. It cost me ~$8 to stake my ETH, although this was before gas fees increased. It costs ~$49 now. Eh, it's doable. But it can be lots of trouble. Taking out loans for crypto *is* 100% gambling. But with *stablecoins*? If you can get loans for way cheaper than the APY you'd make on the interest of loaning the loan out, you can absolutely make a few bucks (like taking out a loan for way under 6% or whatever and then dumping it into stablecoins that make 10%). Loans may have origination fees. Plus you have to pay **tax** on the interest you earn. You may find that you're not making much at all. I haven't figured at what percentage I'd have to be able to get a loan in order for any gains not be wiped out by the taxes on interest. I don't want to go through a bunch of procedures and headaches moving money around just to give the IRS more money than I'd be making.

That won’t happen for three reasons, first the validation exit queue, second, the increased validator APY (fees from miners will go directly to validators), and third, many people is holding back their intentions to stake because is not possible to withdraw. The very moment the withdrawal mechanism is enabled, they will ape into staking

>The 1% loans are 4x overcollateralized. >They make a ton of money on your $4000 in crypto while loaning you $1000. Let's say you take that $1000 and deposit it with them at 12% interest, and they take that $4000 in crypto and lend it out to another person at 1% interest. So now they're making $40 off a loan that they're now paying you $120 to deposit, a -$80 loss for them. "ah", you say "but they also got 4x collateral on that $4000, so now they have $16,000". Now the same thing happens, Mr.$4000 deposits at 12% interest, making $480 APY on a loan that only costs them $40 APY, a net loss for Celsius of $-440 Do you not see how these rates are sustainable only if you keep getting new investors to deposit money which you then use to pay off the interest of older accounts? > On one of the AMAs they said the only reason they don't do 0% on 4x overcollateralized loans is because 0% makes people think it's a scam ah yes, the place offering 17% interest on deposits is really worried about people thinking their rates are obviously too good to be true. >As for the yield, their stablecoin rate kinda sucks compared to lending on a money market like Kucoin or any defi protocol. Madoffs ponzi only yielded 10%. Guess it couldn't have been a ponzi because a real ponzi is 100%+ territory. >Stablecoins are where the demand is right now. [I wonder why that might possibly be](https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/10/07/tether-has-lent-1b-to-celsius-network-report/)

- The highest price I paid for BNB was $35. I thought it was a lot then, but I wanted to have an even 100 coins. - Paid $200 for 100k DOGE. - On average, I paid about $0.04 per for ~25k ADA - ummm, dropped $70 on MATIC because celsius was offering ~15% APY at the time. I forgot about it, then noticed it was a couple grand some months down the line - bought 10 SOL for less than $100 because binance was offering a decent staking rate for it. That’s now worth a couple grand. … those are the only ones I can think of.

Not sure where to stake it but theres also this token called Mermaid that gives Bitcoin reflections. I just hold and my bitcoin stacks daily. In terms of interest plenty of exchanges offer good APY but i wouldnt keep bitcoin or anything valuable anywhere else other than cold wallet. Be careful and watch out for scammers.

1. Ada is 99% hype, and it hasn’t really delivered compared to other projects, but I still hold a sizable bag in case it does 2. Cake is incredibly inflationary, meaning that while it has a high APY the dollar value of cake might drop

I approve, made money. However, if you are bullish on CRO, check out VVS finance. They have auto-mining and farming with fantastic APYs and APRs. If you like PCS’ 70-80% APY, how about VVS’ 5000% All of this is backed by Crypto.com

To practice on what I've just read, I'll definitely be correct to say that providing liquidity for $ROWAN/ $rATOM pool, will enable you to enjoy up to 100% APY on sifchain

It’s a way to participate in decisions regarding Algorands future. You basically commit a portion of your ALGOs for 3 months, and during that time you vote on one or more issues. If you keep your ALGO in your wallet for the 3 months and participate in all voting sessions you get really good rewards (it’s like ~18% APY this session). More info if you’re interested: https://algorand.foundation/governance

Anyone staking ONE? Any tips on how to choose a validator? eg why would I choose one with 8% APY when there are some offering 29.73% APY? What's the risk with the higher yield validator?

Wonderland dot money, it's on AVAX chain. APY around 83k% (yep u read that right). Been lping for 2 weeks. It's an auto-compounding protocol, pretty cool stuff. Their token is in top 100 as well.

Don't know why genuine information is being downvoted... I was in $Time for a good while, used a little tiny bit of money to play around with collateralizing it with abracadabra while leaving most of my stack staking, learned a hell of a lot about De-fi along the way. I second easy access to FTM network as well, bridging $MIM costs like 90 cents and is rapid, its insane. I did this to get into $FHM also. The high % APY for these protocols definitely comes across like a scam but once people take the time to read into it and realise how it is all sustainable they are blown away and quickly 3,3.

Most of that will be a reality with the new Voyager debit Mastercard. Can pay anywhere Mastercard is accepted. It’s coming Jan-Mar 2022 and has a routing/account number for direct deposit and auto bill pay. Only uses USDC at the time, but they also give you 9% APY on it.

Since CoinBase havnt listed Harmony yet, I think a better option would be to make an account with either one of the three (Binance.us / crypto.com / Kucoin) and probably transfer the ADA there and then convert to Harmony ONE. Also if you stake harmony you can get about 10% APY.

Algomint is letting you swap to goBTC which you can then put into a liquidity pool in tinyman, or you can swap for any of the ASA’s staking on yieldly and stake for pretty nice APY’s.

It's a little complex but easier now than ever before. The first step is to chose which L2 chain you want to use, such as Polygon, BSC, Harmony, Avax, Fantom, etc. I browsed beefy.finance for a few weeks, clicking around and comparing different liquidity pools before deciding on Polygon. High APY pools are attractive, but high TLV pools are safer. For first starting off, *single asset* pools like BSC's Cake pool and Quickswap's DragonsLair are going to be easier to wrap your head around than providing liquidity pairs (obligatory warning to read about Impermanent Loss if using double asset pools)
