Everyone moves to bitcoin or willingly gives their spending power to their government. Will you do that? Really? So if someone goes dollar to bitcoin then after a while bitcoin to eth, then tax is expected on any gains in the bitcoin? Even without going off chain? That does make it more equitable compared to tradfi where when once sells DIS to buy SJM they pay any gains made on the DIS, they don't just get to go into SJM and pay no gains taxes.

I've been DCA'ing BTC and ETH every week for about 18 months. I don't know what their intrinsic value really is, but I want to own this asset class and am comfortable doing this. This is a bit unlike high quality stocks, many of which have long histories of riding over time, and DCA is a winning formula. I was DCA'ing DIS in 2008-2009 and buying it as low as $17/share. It's too hard to guess the bottom, for me, so i just set it and forget it via DCA.

I got the absolute bottom of Vechain's drop, and almost the exact bottom of Disney in March of 2020. Just got back from my honeymoon and threw $50 into vechain at 2 tenths of a cent, and $1000 into DIS at $86. Really, really wish I had inversed how much money i threw at each of them, but seeing how low crypto had dropped i thought even putting $50 more into crypto would turn to nothing like the rest of the money i had been putting in for 3 years.

DIS is a stock and every single stock is expected to be lower a year from now than it is today. Every single one. The probability of loss from individual stock picking only becomes more guaranteed as the time horizon is extended. This is the nature of the market and the well understood fact of this immense risk is the only reason there is any expectation of market return. Stock picking (of individual, single stock) with expectation of return long term, is naive gambling where you admit you think you can do something nobody has ever been able to do (beat the market). Buying bitcoin is not like that at all. Bitcoin isn't a security that gives you exposure to risk adjusted return of the market. It's completely unique, and that's why it's better. If you don't understand markets and don't understand technology, then it's no wonder you'd say the things you do, and this ignorance is going to cost you long term. The difference between you and me is that if I come out on top for holding bitcoin, I will actually be able to prove that I understood why it happened. If you completely fluked out, it will be a completely foolish accident and nothing but unvirtuous.

> BTC is unique in the way it has been introduced to the world. Yes, but that way was SHITTY, it's unique but unique =/= advantage, it's a huge DIS-advantage. People didn't have fair knowledge of what it was: a few people who were just blindly lucky enough to stumble across the right discussion forum got a ridiculously massive advantage over other people, even if not any more insightful or anything. Coins that came later had a much fairer exposure to everyone to get involved or not with much more equal footing, making their starts far better.

I’d have to say I’d be very intrigued…. I have only recently dabbled in the crypto space , about a year or so , but I’ve invested in the general stock market most of my adult life. I certainly have been kinda shocked by the drastic swings in the crypto space 😳 … I’m starting to get used to it though 😅 I have never had any large capitol to commit to either crypto or the traditional markets … mostly just a few thousand up to 10k at the most a few years back. I still hold a few tech blue chips … AAPL, IBM, NVDA…. and s few others , as well as Pfizer, 3m, WMT, DIS… etc… I was always told to search out dividend stocks so you can build wealth I also worked for a company that had a few upper management that spoke of Hedge Funds , but I never really thought much about it due to limited resources…. So I would be really interested to be able to reap the benefits of Hedge Fund returns , without Hedge Fund prices !! 😀

> There's ways to provide all the services of a bank without fractional reserves, even for free. No. There's not. Tell me any other way to pay people a bonus for holding their money for them, with 100% reserves. I'll wait. > Also by that logic stable coins have no reason to exist. They pretty much don't, correct. > They are doing what banks do and that's somehow different. Nah, you're right it's somewhat similar. But shittier because they're less established, less well known, better able to rug pull and disappear into the night, unable to use things like cars and houses as collateral, and multiple other DIS-advantages. Difference is not so much the flavor of them vs banks, but more that society just wouldn't lose anything important if stablecoins went extinct. > With FDIC that isn't prevented, they just force every single person with USD savings to subsidize people who lose money in a banking con. Which is 100% reasonable..... since those people are innocent. Society wide insurance with extremely low premiums, basically.

As far as price targets go I don’t really have any, I’m just waiting to assess the impacts of the next couple FOMC meetings, because if the fed raises rates at both we won’t be close to the bottom yet imo. As far as cryptos go, just BTC and ETH although I do have a bag of ADA. Anything under 30k is solid for BTC and anything under 2k for ETH. Although I think we still have a ways to go before we hit bottom

There's nothing about crypto staking that makes any actual responsible business sense as having a higher APY than traditional finance options. Management expenses (assuming they don't also exist in your crypto anyway which they often do) are way lower than the DIS-advantage of having a fration of the available options for collateral that tradfi has. Tradfi can use houses and cars etc as collateral due to police assisting enforcement due to not being anonymous. Defi only has other crypto as collateral. So the only logical way these can possibly have higher APY is: * It's a criminal enterprise laundering money that doesn't care if they have a loss on paper. * It's a ponzi scheme or other structured, intentional scam, and you're more likely to lose money than gain by definition. * It's them actually investing the money, but by way of a bunch of naked shorting etc. behind the curtain, and their super risky investments are only "Secured" by the ability to rug pull you later if/when they go wrong. This also ends up losing you money on average, since no legit operation can compete with bald theft.

Where do you think that apy comes from? Risky as fuck shenanigans like shorting, ponzi scheme bullshit in random shitcoins, ridiculous leveraging, etc etc. is where. There is absolutely nothing about defi that actually fundamentally explains a sustainable method for responsibly providing any super high apy WITHOUT huge risk of folding/getting margin called, etc. and then rug pulling you as a bailout plan. In fact, defi is fundamentally at a major DIS-advantage over traditional lending, in that it doesn't have the weight of law enforcement to allow it to use things like houses and cars as collateral. So it has significantly more limited collateral options, which cripples it long term.

Interesting project I came across today was Discreet ($DIS). It's not live until 2022, but the IDO is currently happening. It's a mixture of Ethereum style smart contracts with Monero style privacy. That's a very powerful combination of tech right there. Private DeFi is something that's going to be focused on more and more as government CBDC's that track your every move become more and more popular. Keep your eye out for this one, I feel like it's a sleeping giant.

No they don't have to be connected, the opportunity cost is the same. Their DIS-connected windmill COULD have been connected and the energy sold to the grid, which would have offset other energy usage by other people. As long as you already went to the trouble and pollution and materials to make a functioning wind generator that COULD have alleviated the grid, the opportunity costs start applying whether you're connected or not.

For me it's $DIS. Discreet has some lofty plans but if they can pull it off it will be next level. A lot of people are wary because they are launching on BSC, due to the high liquidity and ease of use, but they have plans to relocate to their own mainnet in 2022. The technical paper is a heavy read tbh I am looking forward to the more layman friendly version coming soon but it was pretty eye opening even if a little over my head. The dev has been active in the TG answering some high level questions. As always DYOR but I would suggest checking it out. If (when) they pull this off getting in on the ground floor will be amazing. *Citation needed.* I followed the information trail and found [This tweet](https://twitter.com/MackAttackXRP/status/1402250523319934982) citing [this article](https://atozmarkets.com/news/sec-threatens-court-with-far-reaching-consequences-if-they-lose-ripple-lawsuit/) citing [this dropbox document from the Ripple defense](https://www.dropbox.com/s/2t5eklhlqa7lnkd/US_DIS_NYSD_1_20cv10832_LETTER_MOTION_for_Leave_to_File_Sur_Reply_in_Oppos.pdf). The defense document isn't a statement by the SEC, doesn't include the claimed statement by the SEC, and the context isn't even closely related. It doesn't talk about how the case could set precedents. It is primarily about the SEC trying to attach after-the-fact additional cases to the cases already against Ripple. > They will come after miners, vitalik....everyone. *This* is wild fearmongering speculation by OP, and seems entirely unfounded to me. Bitcoin and Ether are already classified as commodities that are not centrally controlled. Specifically, the dev team for Ether doesn't hold a controlling stake of Ether. Compare this to XRP, Ripple is the developer and primary minter of XRP, and holds a controlling stake. Because of this, the value of Ripple and the value of XRP are closely entwined. It isn't clear the underlying asset, XRP, has value independent of Ripple, making it unclear whether XRP is an independent commodity or a security of Ripple. Personally, I think the previous administration filed a really shitty lawsuit right at the end of their term and then passed the bag of shit off to the next administration. The whole thing is now a huge clusterfuck, and yes, undermines the institutional integrity of the SEC (which admittedly has many other problems). I think the SEC is correct that XRP seems to be closer to a security than a commodity. At the same time, Ripple has behaved in good faith, seeking counsel and trying their best to remaining within the bounds of the law while developing an innovative product. The SEC never really tried to resolve this issue with Ripple before filing the lawsuit. To me, *this* is why the lawsuit is so weak, not the material facts of the lawsuit. I think the proper law is for cryptos to initially be securities, but to allow them to become commodities once they have widespread public adoption and the primary developers divest themselves of a controlling stake. I think a just outcome from this lawsuit is for the SEC to clarify the distinction between commodities and securities, and for Ripple to be given a timeline to conform to those rules. We'll see what happens.

The news site looks kinda shad, so here is the content: *Ethereum (ETH), the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization, has surpassed the psychologically crucial $3,000 mark as of press time late Sunday for the first time in its nearly six years of history. What Happened: The cryptocurrency backing the namesake blockchain platform has risen 2.7% over 24 hours to $3,021.67 at press time, giving it a market valuation of $349.4 billion. This market capitalization puts Ethereum ahead of companies like The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), and PayPal Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PYPL). Disney has a market valuation of $337.68 billion and PayPal has a market valuation of $308 billion, as per Friday’s close. Ethereum is now hovering around Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC), which has a market valuation of $349.66 billion.*

In this way they are combining the best of both worlds — allowing crypto investors to stake their PoS digital assets via TosDis EasyStake. At the same time, they take care of the technical aspect of the staking process and the benefits of liquid staking. TosDis is bringing together Staking-as-a-Service and liquid staking to unlock more generous access to digital assets. It is a new word in the Proof-of-Stake algorithm’s improvement, allowing its users to use a platform-independent betting mechanism and increasing the liquidity of tokens.** **Click** [**here**](https://tosdis.finance/DisPaper.pdf?ver=2) **to view TosDis White Paper** **Team** **See** [**here**](https://www.tosdis.finance/#team) **for more information** **Our Opinion** **Risk Score: 7** **Target Price: $400.00** **Maximum Supply: 99,986** **This cryptocurrency looks attractive. It has developed and continues to develop new innovative solutions in the fast expanding DeFi space. Yeah same, this seemed so fishy from the start, Nothing I hate more than private sales for YouTubers at very low valuations, I see that and am instantly out. It gives them so much incentives to low effort hype projects, for maximal gains. GUUYS DIS IS GONNA BE HUUUUGE!!!!!!!!!!

Holding might not work. Inflation is higher than the official numbers imply, indexes get failing securities removed and replaced with successful companies. In 1990s I memorized DOW30: T, AA, ALD, AXP, BA, BS, CAT, CHV, KO, DIS, DD, EK, EXON, GE, GM, GT, HWP, IBM, IP, MCD, MRK, MMM, JPM, MO, PG, S, TX, UK, UTX, WX, Z. How many are still there?

Luckily I had technical difficulties every "pump" so far (lolxd). I've found if you buy a few tokens a day after the pump (with your own DD of course!), you can actually make a few free bucks as normal non-asshole investors see the traffic of the token and throw a few bucks in themselves. I've made a few hundred dollars so far doing pretty much the complete opposite of what they say to do. So sorry about your loss, what the actual hell is wrong with these guys? I'm reporting them now after reading this. DIS: This is not financial advice nor should it be acknowledged as such. Do your own Due-Diligence($$DD) before making any purchase of stocks or shares.

My two favorites are: $DIS - MC $6.4M $XBC - MC $1m The fundamentals look decent. Take a look at the research on each of these two coins provided by CryptoQuestion here: [https://cryptoquestion.tech/moonshot-portfolio/](https://cryptoquestion.tech/moonshot-portfolio/) They have researched 20 potential moonshots. These two are at the top end of the risk scale but the rewards could be massive with such low market caps.

tokenscan.xyz. If you want my a-1 advice, but DIS. Tosdis has easily the best defi staking program. They started with POLS and have DOT signed. They will also allow staking of BSC. They have stress test with binance feb 22nd. They will pass. Most Americans can't buy BSC, let allow stake it. When they find out they can, along with many other start up, offering up to 1500% apr, they will stick around. DIS has amazing tokenomics, and it's near it's all time low since launching, a week ago.

You can use Tokensniffer to hedge your odds on what is or isn't a scam. For instance, if PolkaBase is a scam in the making, they went through a TON of extraneous work, since their contract is solely unique in the crypto world. Most scams just use a template coin. I'm not saying you're wrong. I disagree, is all. I believe scams are much less prevalent than people believe. There are literally hundreds of projects right now raging in price because they can solve huge problems. ZIL, GRT, DIS, ALGO, MKR, BAT, HYDRA, GET, DOT, ADA. So many more. PolkaBridge went down today, like many others. There's still a 55 mil cushion, so I'm good HODLing.
