Took two months or so. We had no guides on how to do it but the ROMs were easy to get then and it had not yet been established that it was illegal to download them. The word on the street was the old games were old enough to be in public domain so we went with it. The original, physical arcade (along with the original computer inside) is long gone but I still have the keypad and several clones. Nowadays I use USB converters and the original controllers for NES, Sega and SNES (the USB knock offs suck) and USB N64 controllers (they actually make good, cheap aftermarket ones).
id rather pay a premium to the company that \*doesn't\* choose anti-consumer business practices at every single opportunity in order squeeze as much profit as possible out of me over one that does. Sony is so greasy that they invent entirely new ways to do it. I already know I'm not buying a ps6 because i know i wont be able to use ANY of the ps5 shit I spent money on simply because they want me to buy \*another\* one. i never felt this way owning playstations 1-4. \*something\* changed for the worse this generation. sony doesn't even have a fucking refund policy for when they sell you a game that was blatantly falsely advertised. It wouldn't be a problem if the game came on a disk you could return to the store, but you can't use a disk unless you buy a disk drive lmao. They also do things like putting DLC for a PSNow game on sale the week before removing it from the list of included titles. I already have a steam library of games, a bunch of non-steam controllers (and bluetooth headsets) that I could use with a steam machine because valve didn't intentionally make anything non-valve-branded unusable with the console. Even my sony bluetooth headphones don't work with ps5 because they aren't the official fucking playstation ones. The thing has a functional bluetooth chip, there is literally no reason or need for this. They went as far as making \*their own controllers\* from the last generation unusable (unless you connect them to your laptop and run psremoteplay while ignoring the giant banner across the screen that cannot be removed, because apparently that's fine?!). And the cost of the controller does not justify any of this, especially not having to constantly replace them in any way, wtf? I have owned basically every major console since... SNES, and have never had issues anywhere near those with the dualsense, including joycons. the problem is that there is an obvious design or manufacturing flaw but they won't admit or fix it because it directly benefits them not to. same with the the other (seemingly) small design choices I pointed out.

Investment money in manufacturing companies created goods that were used, amortized, or resold (things hold value). But if now all that money is invested into software and data companies, there is less and less to trickle down. I.e., trickle down economics, as fragile a theory it was, is completely vitiated in an economy where money flows from one entity to the other, or into a company that produces nothing that can hold value. I.e. x2 - now that games are digitally sold, all gamers have lost wealth, whereas old SNES cartridges can still be resold for $100s

My trick is take a quick screenshot and share it to chat gpt and ask is this real. Works really well. Works for pictures too. As an example I sent it a picture with some clouds and it knew the pic was fake because it can detect that the clouds were ai generated. Another example someone asked on a forum if a board on a SNES game was a knockoff because there is lots of piracy in the retro game communities and it knew it was a reproduction because it recognized the chips on the board did not exist back then.

Yeh, I have long term investment in penny stock as well, but even if it is for long term I will take profit when there is a sudden spike and wait for price correction before buying again. If I were you, with the stocks you mentioned, SNES & LIDR, I'd cash in LIDR and monitor the movement. SNES, I can consider adding more if I really trust the company. Just sharing my personal strategy, you can do whatever you like.

Only prices aren't really increasing. Games have been one of the most inflation proof goods on the planet. I paid $79.99 for Final Fantasy 6 in 1995 (saved money mowing lawns all summer), and many other SNES games were all 49.99-89.99. If anything, gaming has gotten cheaper for the games relatively speaking.

Honestly, let's not disparage the 16-bt graphic card of the SNES. Zelda: A Link to the Past was a beautiful game with vibrance and complexities despite the limitations of the processing. The cybertruck is just really shitty polygons, and in no way do I wish to diminish polygons.

Where were you buying SNES games in the 90s? I paid $30 tops, $20 or less for NES in the late 80s when that was new and sometimes $10 per cart on the old Atari mid-80s. Now 80s arcade was the real money suck when you are a broke kid whose mom thinks video games are the devil and won't give you quarters.

Initially I thought there's competition but apparently there's none. Contrapest is unique. However, I'm not sure if this could be a catalyst because it's not the first time Contrapest was attempted in American cities (2020 in Washington DC, 2022 in Seattle, also I found mentions of Ferndale, Michigan and Ottawa), the results were not 100% conclusive. For example, some city authorities were saying that complaints about rats were even higher. In my opinion it's a dubious metric because there could be numerous reasons why complaints' count increased. If you look up laboratory-based experiments, Contrapest works and works well. \* I think the main catalyst is reducing the production cost of ContraPest. One of the ingredients is triptolide, a substance extracted from Thunder God Vine, a Chinese Plant. Very expensive, 15 times expensive than gold of the same weight. Some other guys (TriptoBio) found a way to produce it synthetically. Once approved by the EPA, it could dramatically reduce expenses. SenesTech's CEO, Fruendt says, "From our perspective, biosynthetic triptolide brings two very distinct advantages to ContraPest. One, biosynthetic production is typically more consistent in its quality and availability, compared with botanically derived triptolide from China, our current source. Nintendo has a massive captured market with their IP. Beyond new release next gen titles, the subscriptions for NES, SNES, Gamboy titles etc is a significant pull for older gamer/market with $$$ Playing the old titles on the switch while stuck on plane, airport, while waiting for dinner etc, the casual gamer, reaches more people than steam decks. Steam decks are for more hardcore / invested gamers.
