I've posted this before: Years ago I was working for an IT company. We needed to get some office supplies, so for the first time ever, instead of just going down to the local store, one colleague suggested we buy from "the Amazon website". None of us had heard of it. We spent like an hour all sat there huddled around a CRT monitor, looking at this weird website that had all sorts of random things for sale. The prices seemed fair and although we had to wait a few days for the order to come, we thought it was pretty cool how we could order it on the internet. The same colleague said we should all buy shares in Amazon, as "this thing could end up being quite popular". None of us did, including the colleague himself. Amazon's stock price at the time? Around 10 bucks.

My point is that usage is not the only metric that matters. How many people use DVD now? But it was the most relevant technology for storing media 15 years ago. To say cardano's advancements and security aren't relevant because development was slow is the same as saying I don't need an OLED tv. I still have a perfectly good CRT screen right here.

Even so, that would only apply to gains between the purchase and sale of the gold, the gain on the Bitcoin would be unaffected. Otherwise, it would be basically the same as saying you bought them with your income, so you don't have to pay income tax, which obviously isn't the case. You can safely assume that any way to avoid taxes that's practical for your average person has already been thought of and ruled out. I'd build a brutally kickass gaming room. I'm already fairly geared in most fundamentals (good 4K screen, quality CRT, all consoles I care about, big collection of games, recently upgraded PC, shitton of controllers and cables, and everything necessary to connect everything to everything every whichaway). But I'd just pimp the place like crazy and make it super convenient. Have everything plugged into hubs to ensure never having to switch cables. Have all controllers neatly organized. Have shelves all along the walls for the game collection and knicknacks. Decorate the place and add nice adjustable lighting. Big comfy couch, cushions, chairs and coffee table. Perhaps a bunch of wireless controller adapters for older consoles. But realistically, I'll probably just keep accumulating and eat up all debt (i.e. mortgage) first because I treat money like a squirrel.

2 options... Option 1) sell the crypto, convert to cash, deposit back to bank account. Prepare to lose about 38% due to taxes. Option 2) consult a tax attorney to start a CRT, or Charitable Trust. Set it up before withdrawing any money. This is basically a donation to yourself. Pay almost no tax and live off the yearly payments. You have to think of what the wealthy do to pay as little tax as possible and still have income. That should hopefully get you to where you want to be. Good luck!

Maybe “non-CRT displays” is a better example here. As as for aircraft, we don’t use lighter than air travel but maybe that it’s self is the point. We achieved a significant travel of distance, but not efficient utility or speed of that travel. 51 years the Wrights got some of the basis for the speed down. So maybe Giffard was Digicash, Wright’s were BTC, and now we are into or close to stepping into those commercial flights.

Well, back then transistor size was like, 10 micrometer? Most of the CPUs in 1999s was hitting near 1ghz max, and they're all single core. Can't help the monitor is CRT, the CPU is power intensive, HDD needs energy to spin all 50g metallic disc of glorious 100gb data server for a HDD, with 56k modem with power adapter the size of your fist. 5 mbps is probably the most attainable speed for cheap in 1999, even then 1 mb size .png takes time. Now try mine BTC with current rate with all these ancient techs, I'll bet a nuclear power plant is best suited to mine BTC in the future.

Not really. Send test transactions before the big one. It's still the early days of crypto. When I was a kid, I had an uncle who was big into computers before any of us had seen one in person. This dude had like 4 small CRT monitors with black screens and a ton of neon green gibberish. That shit made no sense. We are a little bit past that stage for crypto, but still very crude compared to the UI/UX of the future where things are **OVER**simplified so that even a boomer can use it. For now, we KNOW to send test transactions. I double check and triple check, still send only $10, then wait for confirmation before sending the whole kit n kaboodle. Sure, I've sent $100-200 in one go after just triple checking for accuracy and no test send, but right about there is where I draw the line. Granted, the one counterargument are the ridiculous transaction fees on Ethereum, but when sending $500k you can afford a couple of $20 transaction fees, whereas a test run for $200-500 is not feasible.

Bitcoin does change indirectly over time due to the gradually diminishing block subsidy, and the fact that everything around it is constantly evolving. 27 years from now, the block subsidy is going to be 99% less than it is now. 55 years from now, it's going to be 99.99% less. It's going to have to change or face an existential crisis when either security decreases or transaction costs skyrocket. And the technology world moves so quickly. How many technologies have survived past 20-30 years when better competing technologies exist. The market for VCRs, cassette tapes, fax machines, dial up Internet, CRT screens, and spindle disk drives have all been taken over by their competitors. The tech world requires you to evolve or die if there are better competitors.

There are several repeated studies that show the "right" generally understand (but disagree with) the positions of the "left" but that the reverse isn't true so much. The left often do not even accurately comprehend what the right believe. Case in point. "White parents" and "evangelical Christians" -- I assume you're referring to parents of various colors and religions that have recently been active at school board meetings esp. in Virginia -- are not upset about their children learning about racism in history. The history of racism including slavery and Jim Crow have been taught in public schools everywhere in the country for decades, and nobody is complaining about that. Again, it’s a super personal choice. Just know you won’t ever be getting a visa to get back into the US. You burn that bridge, never can go back to visit family or friends to avoid paying $200k in taxes that you could have avoided with a CRT or move to PR. And there are only a few Caribbean countries that offer citizenship by investment for under $200k so you will be spending $60k-3M to get citizenship by investment and that is not including the cost of purchasing a home which is nearly always required as well. Again, a total lose-lose situation. I mean if you just need a million bucks to afford moving overseas to renounce your US citizenship for political reasons, I can understand that. But to do it for financial reasons I just don’t see it.

Comparing a small island to the entire US population of 320+ million people and orders of magnitude more land area is statistically meaningless. Crime happens more in urban areas. Compare crime in San Juan on a per capita basis to any major US city and it doesn’t rank worse. There are places I wouldn’t live for sure, places I wouldn’t park my car or walk around after dark. But I can say the same for every single population center in the entire US. Niche.com is a great tool to check out areas for crime and more, to get a sense of an area. Plan a trip, talk to real estate agents who work with people from the mainland, and make an informed decision. Or the CRT. Whichever floats your boat!

Technically it’s impossible. You aren’t supposed to create a charity for this purpose. 503(c)s are very regulated. Plus there are better ways of doing it. Use the first few years of income from the CRT to fund a multi-million dollar whole life insurance policy. Once it has enough it in, you don’t have to pay premiums anymore. You can pass that on to your heirs tax free. It’s basically one of the only times whole/universal life insurance is better than term life because you want to set it and forget it and start taking the CRT income for yourself without having a premium you have to pay until you die.
