Anything that touches society is political in the most basic sense. I think what most people are talking about when they say “Bitcoin isn’t political” is to stop making it “anti-woke” or “pro-lgbt”. It's his whole appeal, something about Trump so totally breaks progressives' brains that they react in a way that can be very funny to watch if you don't take the idea that Trump is warming up the ovens for LGBT folx seriously. Do you remember when Trump wanted to appoint Herman Cain to the board of the Federal Reserve? If Trump can't even get that done, he can't turn the US into a theocracy. It is not easier to suspend the constitution, abolish congress, and install Paula White as Spiritual Guardian of America than it is to appoint someone to the board of the Fed. It simply isn't, this is fearmongering. The other reason I don't want to debate this is because Biden's recent debate performance pretty much sealed the idea that he isn't mentally fit to run for POTUS. He was obviously in a state of cognitive decline during the last election, but now it's so bad the Democrats continuing to run him comes off as elder abuse. The thing is, the terrible things that Democrats were afraid were going to happen all happened under Biden's watch - Roe being overturned, loosening of gun laws, states' putting the Ten Commandments back in schools, etc. What are you really voting for at this point? If this is the guy steering American away from the Christian Right, he's asleep at the wheel.

Personally, I don't think the average person cares that much about Bitcoin or crypto in general. There's very few people at my work place that hold any crypto or really have an idea of what it is. CNBC reports that 15% of millennials hold crypto, 12% of Gen Z and Gen X holds crypto, and 5% of Boomers. I'm not going to say no one has skin in this game, but the majority of people don't. The percentage of those who care about crypto due to the fundamentals, rather than their chance at winning the crypto lottery, is probably even smaller than that. That's why I feel all of this political talk surrounding crypto right now is very weird. Surely it will fire up some people, but not nearly as many people as abortion, 2A, LGBT issues, or taxes. I couldn't imagine what percentage of crypto owners need crypto to be the hotbutton issue for their vote to mobilize. My guess is that abortion, 2A, LGBT issues, or taxes are already enough for a majority to mobilize their vote, but maybe I'm wrong.

But I've also enjoyed learning about and using the technology, and thinking about what could be possible - I imagine tokenized share markets and other real world assets available to trade on defi 24/7, it seems like an inevitability. That's a subjective take. There are certain things in each of those countries that America doesn't have and vice versa. There is a lot of hyper-criticism on America when it's just unnecessary fear mongering and honestly propaganda at some points. An example would be that I saw a video of an LGBT teacher saying she replaced the flag in her class room with a pride flag because "America is evil". Yet we have some of the most progressive laws that protect their community. Again, not perfect, but to go to the extent of just shitting on their own country and encouraging others to be hateful and fearful is not helpful. Also, this thread in particular is not some light criticism of America when the title is "I don’t think the US will survive the next 20 years." Again to me this is promoting fear and nonsense when we have thousands of great things going for us that nobody wants to highlight. It's almost "cool" to hate on our own country and that's just sad.

It's too bad what those protestors were protesting though. If that happened to pro-LGBT+/pro-abortion protestors, the general public would have embraced btc so hard, because it'd be for a good cause. But because those truckers were protesting covid prevention mandates, the general public sees it as a way for bad people to skirt around regulation. The general public doesn't think the good guys need a reason to avoid this, because they foolishly think the government will support the good guys. What I'm saying is that that event didn't help btc adoption, it harmed it, just as the NFT craze has harmed adoption. And that's a shame.
