I work in tech too (also a PhD entry), outside of the ML bubble it's mostly 45k for technical roles from the top unis (Oxford, Cambridge Imperial, UCL etc). I imagine the US tech firms can get up to 80k but you have to have a very specific skillset to even be considered for those. I spent my PhD doing actual physics/experiments, never touched leetcode in my life etc. I know for a fact that most technical consultancies and start-ups in Oxford/Cambridge offer 35k to PhD entry - big companies 45k. It's rough out there. Source - I now help hire PhDs for my team. Outside London. The good news is, once you have 2-3 years experience in the job after PhD you are basically worth your weight in gold. So little technical seniors out there in the UK, it's mad. I just moved role and got a 25% bump and now don't work Fridays - will probably move again in 1.5 years for another 25% bump, already being hounded on linkedin lmao.

Yes both scenarios looks stupid rn so that's why i will post like 50-60 pages of thesis why. But first $3200 spx in Q1 is my goal and nothing else matters.

Lol is £150k a low salary for you? Beyond me how you think there’s an absence of high paying jobs in London one of the richest cities of the world a big financial. I’m friends with an UCLA she certainly doesn’t feel that way and chose to go to UCL for her masters. Six years after enrolling, alumni who are working have average earnings of $49,600 per year. After ten years, graduates earn $70,700 on average. These are the figures for UCLA this isn’t that much better than my undergrad rates and it’s much cheaper to live there than in LA. So a qualified solicitor from a good from makes over twice as much a UCLA grad after 10 years. You can begin becoming an attorney here once you have a BSc but you need to do a year of law school which you do while working. Man you must straight up delusional

And where did you get your education? London is the best place I’ve lived despite my limited access to pewpews (fuck these shotguns they have at the range I go to in east London) high cost of living, stagnate wages, growing despair and social unrest. I do enjoy a very high standard of living here but it costs. Im in a fortunate position that I don’t have to pay for utilities those who do are suffering. wages here are pathetic compared to NY. Im looking at jobs that start £25-40k or get into a law firm trainee contract where it’s roughly £50k then 55 second year followed by £150k when qualified. The anglosphere still breeds the top education in the world, it’s just that even though anyone with a UK degree and work here I don’t expect retention rates in the country to be what they were before. Having done my undergrad in the US the education system here is far superior and different at least compared to your typical state university which outside of the very top they all have a cookie cutter approach to education. I can’t comment on what other UK universities are like outside of Ox LSE UCL and KCL(as I only know people from these unis), as we do things a little different here from what I’ve been told, but not nearly as different as the oxbridge teaching environment. I’m dating an undergrad from London also goes to UCL and her coursework is far my intensive than mine was, no way I could’ve survived or even gotten here as an undergrad.

A blanket statement like that betrays more ignorance than "wisdom", if there was any. Crypto is not just some shitcoins and overleveraged options trading like FTX. It's developing the protocols that will be foundation for IoT, DeFi and changing the balance between consumers and companies. From the IoT perspective, which I am interested in, there are projects like Hedera which have support from Google, IBM, Boeing and education institutes like UCL. It provides an alternative route to Blockchains and is a potential candidate for networks with some degree of trust embedded in them, e.g. an ecosystem of smart devices, the kind that are already a reality with Apple and Samsung products. To create an "economy" among these devices in how they interact with each other, is the next step in creating an intelligent ecosystem. But every tech has its luddites, screeching and crying in their corner. Some are duped into bagholding shitcoins and are bitter ever since. Doesn't invalidate the work of millions of others building the foundation for the next decade.

I have a big perxentage of my shares portofolio on Ater by averaging down constantly for close to a year now. Given the many big money funds buying constantly at 2-3 (there were many opportunities & cases) i am not afraid of the actual value of the company in that industry. Opportunity cost is a very big factor and i agree there were many opportunities to declare a big loss and acquire DWAC on the first day making 2-3x in a day and back all my losses from Ater. I had my exams on april and I was heavily studying( I am studying stats and econ at UCL, one of the most demanding courses on campus) and i was very busy, i could have made money by selling at 7 but i would be looking for the moves and doing my TA to be sure i did the correct move, i decided to just leave it and agree, this is not that important as the company is not worth only 7. Overall, yes there are great opportunity costs holding but I am not taking the loss on ATER!!!

GOOGLES amendment was already argued at the PTAB trial and at Federal Appeals court. Ad Nauseum. JEDEC happened a long time ago 2007 maybe. This claim by Google will ultimately get dismissed like most UCL claims. This argument certainly didn't impress the PTAB OR FEDERAL APPEALS court.

Accordingly, leave to amend to add a UCL counterclaim shall be granted (line 25, page 43). Since this is ultimately a patent case lines 12-25 on page 43 almost seal the deal for Google on damages when basically it states Netlist failed to disclose information before the JEDEC members voted on the DDR standards and Google is now suffering damages as a result. So basically, you need to read everything because what the summary judgment only means is that Netlist can continue to pursue their complaint on Claim 16, but Google has alleged enough up to this point to warrant a valid defense and if they can defend their defense argument(s) Netlist could lose the whole case.

I mean, the way the leagues act is definitely influenced by who owns the teams that make up those leagues. But let’s ignore that, as it’s not the point of what you were saying. Salary caps haven’t been introduced in football *yet*. When PSG went on a spending spree this summer and built a star studded team, UEFA immediately started talking about studying a salary cap. It is an issue that will come up as those salaries start approaching the american levels. As for relegation… sorry but I have to strongly disagree. Relegation is based on team performance in terms of *sporting merit* not company performance. Otherwise, just to make a stupid example, PSG would have already been crowned UCL champions many times yet they struggle every year. On the other hand, the inclusion or exclusion of new franchises in US sports is purely a business decision. Not even to mention the fact that if you just moved a club to another city like a business or a US franchise would easily do, there would be a popular revolt.

Mentions:#UCL
r/investingSee Comment

Excuse me? Most US franchise teams of whatever sport are also owned by capitalists & billionaires - quite often the same individuals own teams across US & Europe as well. ‘Soccer’ might not have salary caps, but despite being much more visible and followed than any US sport (basing this on viewership of stuff like the UCL or WC final) the salaries of the best players of all times (Ronaldo, Messi) would be perfectly acceptable for a medium-good NBA player. Also, how is relegation capitalist? If anything, that’s the most socialist element of modern football. Not sure if you heard about the whole Super League controversy… it was a capitalistic project that failed because the fans & football community strongly rejected the closed clique system that would be formed if relegation was removed. I think you’re mixing up the words capitalistic and liberal a bit.

Alliance MMA was the first and only IPO in MMA - it was a miserable failure for shareholders and most of the promoters, although some made out well. B2 Digital is an MMA company with holdings including HRMMA, Colosseum Combat, UCL, Pinnacle and Strike Hard - they are all micro-regional promotions and currently traded on OTC. XFC was also recently revived and listed on OTC. They haven't done much since their return, they did a time-buy on NBC Sports which was a pretty shitty decision IMO.... nothing of note since. You can also buy shares in Roy Jones Jr Promotions - which airs on UFC Fight Pass. I don't know what type of securities it is classified as - but was def a cash grab (seemed scammy, I passed hard) After the Kimbo Slice/ Elite XC debacle - the ownership behind that show attempted to make a return to the spotlight as ProElite - which was traded OTC before they went under. International Fight League "IPO'd" but they were OTC and not on a major exchange... they failed too. ONE is reportedly contemplating a SPAC - i asked Chatri about it and he acknowledged they had approached an investment banking firm to explore the option but would not say anything else. They likely can't pass any real audits so a true IPO is probably out of the question for them. PFL is on their way to an IPO at some point.. they'll have to do something to keep the Ponzi scheme going. They're still taking on investors left-and-right and had to raise an additional $65mil just to do this season.. all of those shareholders are going to look for a return or liquidation event some day. I'm sure I'm missing some.....

Yeah the UK has always had very close ties with the US for multiple reasons, so it makes sense that the selection over there is better and bigger, it’s probably one of their biggest markets outside the US. I really don’t get the hype about Disney+ at all too, and the fact is that my friends keep subbing despite it’s clearly the worst choice of the 3 by quite some margin. Unless you really want to see Disney stuff there’s not much else at all, why pay for that. Maybe it’s because of marketing, Prime video and Disney have been pushing hard on tv and internet ads over here. None of that for Netflix, which seems to be focusing almost exclusively on exclusives and relying on its name to get more subs. It’s been their strategy for many years and it’s quite disappointing to see that their 3rd party selection is not that great still. If Prime Video gets UCL rights, or something huge like that, it will spread like wildfire I think. I literally pay 18€ per year to have free next day shipping on amazon, plus free Prime Video, free twitch sub and a bunch of other things. CRAZY value.

And the Qatari Government owns the company that has the UCL broadcasting rights for NA and Middle east... they would loose billions if this super league goes through

These aren't really the biggest clubs. They just have clout due to being in bigger markets due to population size. European soccer is due a shakeup as the current UCL is a virtual closed shop as is. It is a tournament full of non-Champion sides which makes it a fallacy.

It was my understanding that while it’s possible... how often does it really happen where a team makes it into the UCL that hasn’t already been for years and win it? Maybe I am confusing the promotion into the UCL with promotion into Premier League?

I completely agree but least the UCL reform enables some competition the ESL has 15 teams who are always going to be in the league regardless the new UCL is also complete trash but its less trash than the ESL

Uefa and Fifa aren’t any better. The new UCL reform was literally to line their pockets. They’re getting beat at their own game, and now they’re salty. It’s also funny to see everyone on r/soccer whine about tradition when most of us are early 20’s or younger. We know fuck all about tradition. Just my 2 cents.

Yea, leaving the most corrupt, insider bullshit sports organizations in FIFA/UEFA are bad for the sport. UCL has been pay to win for decades. Their response of banning players from international tournaments just shows how similar they are to P&D Cramer

It is the worse thing that you can ever do to football. These are big european football sharks that want to fill up their pockets even more. Not their retail investors and for sure not their fans. This is basically a way of saying: Look, UCL and EL is all fun and games but it kinda of sucks we having to share our money other 36 clubs, most of them from countries with lower leagues. So... why don't we create our own league where we don't have to play them, risking embarassent if we loose and divide the profits amount us? And don't worry we will leave 5 places for the rest of the teams to have the opportunity to join in, in case you guys want to accuse us of elitism. Now, this is the worse thing that you can do to any kind of sport that has the main target since its creation to be inclusive. Everyone, and I mean 99,99% that actually care about the sport are agaisnt. From Federations, National leagues, other clubs (like Bayern, Dortmund or FC Porto that were invited and refused), UEFA, FIFA, football players, coaches and most important the fans. There a clubs joining that in the past few years are far from achieving good results: AC Milan, Internazionale and M. United are good examples of it. In the past years they are even having a hard time getting to UCL, yet alone win it, with clubs like Ajax, Shaktar, Roma, FC Porto, Dortmund getting the best out of them. This is nothing but a fake coup agaisnt UEFA to gain more money, attention and get some new changes (like UCL going for 36 clubs) undone. Proof of this? Read the latest Barcelona FC press realese where they admit that they have the biggest interest in keeping conversations with UEFA and FIFA to improve the quality of already existing competitions. Even if this goes foward there is one more isue: Some clubs have to do elections to see if this gets approved. Not shareholders elections but fans elections and that will never pass in at least 2-3 clubs. And UEFA, FIFA and football federations won't let this go easy. They will be blocked from entering UCL and EL, but also national leagues plus they can prohibit players to go in international duty. So, football wise... this is might be the worse decision and by far the most contested one for decades and for it to go all the way... it is a long shot. With that said, I disagree with you when you consider that this is a good opportunity to stock up on football clubs stocks. On paper it might look like they will be victorious and they will double their revenue but... the chances of that happening are minimal Note: I'm a football fan and this is one of the worse things that happened. I honestly feel sick just thinking about how these clubs are thinking. Thus, my post so far might seem a bit over the top but I don't intent to go agaisnt the OP and just completly bash him and say his stupid. Quite the oppositve, on a stock subreddit I hope I'm able to bring the view of what almost every football fan is thinking right now :)
