Technically a millionaire. Don't feel like one. HCOL. What I/we did: company match on 401k then increased it till we maxed out the max allowable contribution. Real estate: bought in basic homes and did live in flips. Lucky break was buying in Brooklyn in the bottom of 2011 market then selling a few years later; put that into primary and investment properties. Then increased investment contributions. What I WISH we did: max out Roth IRA as soon as we could, then max out HSA. Then max out 401k. Moved less frequently and put that money into either real estate or broad index funds. Don't let lifestyle creep happen. Would have been retired by now instead of freaking out about how to squirrel away as much as possible for the next 10-20? Years to maintain lifestyle because $1m doesn't go as far as you think when you do the math looking at retirement

Probably kind of correct. The issue is figuring out when the Fed will decide to let it crash a little instead of just printing again. Very well could turn into a scenario where they just keep propping up asset prices and providing liquidity while most of the economy goes to shit, basically stagflation but probably even worse, we'll WISH everything cost the same for a decade or two.

A friend tried to get me to cut a well paying contract short to make less money at WISH. I interviewed and the product and people sounded fishy. I stayed with the other firm and 2 years later I have just extended that consulting contract again. So glad I didn’t jump on that for wishful thinking.
