This upgrade reflects Berenberg's positive outlook on the long-term growth of Rolls-Royce's engine delivery, particularly for large aircraft, and the company's improved internal performance, although the "hold" rating suggests caution remains. > Adobe’s approach is industry leading, That's not saying much. Everybody I know in the creative space that _can_ leave adobe, has. Everyone else is wishing they could be so lucky. I don't know a single person that was sad when they learned that adobe wouldn't be acquiring and ruining Figma. Us "normies" left the bloated mess that is Acrobat behind _ages_ ago and I don't know anybody that pines for the days when clicking a PDF link would freeze your computer for 60s while the red bloat loaded. Basic PDF viewing has been built into my browser for more than a decade and I haven't installed acrobat reader on a computer since windows XP. > But I’m saying that we need to do something even if it’s not 100% effective. Your condom analogy is correct in the narrow sense of "nothing is perfect, **correct** use matters!" but it breaks down when you examine what a condom does vs what C2PA tries to do. Condoms buy down risk, C2PA is promoted as this magic thing that can bestow a trusted aura on media. Your analogy doesn't capture the flaws though: c2pa will happily [bestow it's blessing on manipulated media, obscure provenance gaps, and enable tracking](https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/1010-C2PAs-Butterfly-Effect.html). It would be _really bad_ if people started to rely on c2pa and then somebody figured out how to mint "authentic" content. Can you imagine if somebody managed to [create CSAM and get C2PA to say that /u/KJEveryday was the originator](https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/1013-C2PAs-Worst-Case-Scenario.html)? You'd be right and proper fucked with zero recourse because - as we all know - c2pa is infallible and if the computer says you made this nasty image, you did it, straight to jail! **In security/integrity related contexts, 99% is a failing grade.** > I wonder what you think a better approach would be? Genuinely asking! "better" implies that c2pa [works](https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/1024-IEEE,-BBC,-and-C2PA.html) :). The fundamental problem is that you have one "solution" trying to solve all aspects of the _authentication_ problem **and** the _provenance_ problem. It would be best if we instead focused just on the problems that do have known solutions and will play nicely with the analogue loophole. We have (imperfect) technology to ensure authenticity and it's _very_ wide spread but proving _where_ a particular image came from is only going to have a reliable solution after the analogue loophole is closed and we have moved beyond the need for cameras and microphones to record the world around us.

Smart way of thinking 👌 Sometimes the extra 3–5% isn’t just about math, it’s about the trade-off with your time + stress. If you can redirect those 20 hrs/month into leveling up skills, career, or even building a business, the long-term ROI could beat both bonds and flips. r/stocksSee Comment

Yes, but this is a little difference because the penalty is that you literally can't use the app. Its not like something where you are in a pay-to-win/compete scenario (like with the "better cards" example). In fact, although they have a league system there is nothing about paying that makes you more stronger; You can't even convert the gems you get from rewards into XP boosts (which is really the only way you get an advantage). There are no flashy Duolingo skins. It is that they deliberately do things to make your experience unpleasant, to make language learning harder etc. unless you pay.

MTX shop in a singleplayer game. Vast open world that admittedly looks nice but is filled with the most boring slop fetch quests and the classic "clear the outpost" activities. Main story and characters so forgetful they could be a movie starred by the Rock. If that's pretty good, what's bad? Now, this will be an asshole elitist take from me but AC has joined the holy trifecta of "Fifa, CoD, AC" games. Which means when somebody tells me they mainly play one of these games, I immediately know they ain't really into gaming. They are just killing time.

Very nice! I had a 5850 before I upgraded to the 7970. I hated how loud the fans were on that 5xxx series cards (The 7970 was the Sapphire AiB model that I think had 3 fans so it was pretty quiet). I bought an aftermarket heatsink and fan kit because I hated how loud that 5850 was, but I didn't research it properly and didn't realize that the XFX 5850 was a unique design. so the aftermarket HS/Fan was only for the reference board layout. Over a decade later and I found the still new in package HS/Fan for that card so about 6 months ago I picked up a used reference 5870 on eBay for like ~$30 with the intention of completing that HS/Fan swap, lol! I have both the GPU and the HS/Fan in the closet in my computer room/office just waiting for the day that I feel motivated to do the swap. I have no idea what I will even do with it afterwards; I was contemplating pairing it with an old mobo CPU and building a dedicated old school gaming PC running Windows XP so as to play some of those old games that had compatibility issues. Most everything is solved now via emulation or dosbox or whatever...

Also, every computer has done work that commodore 64 can solve, that's how technology works, a commodore 64 cannot do the work that quantum computers have done to this point. So not sure why you brought up old tech. Imagine if someone back in the day bought 100k copies of Microsoft XP, because they thought it was the greatest technology ever made, and it will never be obsolete. We could call them dumb now huh? AEHR is interesting. AEHR is not a giant in the chip-testing world, but in the specific and growing niche of SiC and high-reliability power chips, it’s a critical enabler. SiC chips are more complex and prone to defects, especially at the wafer level. As a result: • Every single SiC chip must go through burn-in testing to ensure long-term reliability. • AEHR’s wafer-level test systems (like the FOX-XP) are built for exactly this kind of screening. So, as SiC adoption grows, demand for AEHR’s systems grows too.

You will understand things better if you pick up some experience with covered call writing. Some options to gain some XP in CC writing: 1. Paper trade. Buy 1,000 of AAPL and try various CC writing strategies. 2. Buy 100 shares of a cheap stock like SOFI ($1853 cost basis) and write a covered call against it. If you are concerned with taxes, do this in an IRA. 3. Dip your toe into the water by selling 1 call contract on AAPL. If it starts to go ITM, close it out (buy it back) for a loss. Roll it. Sell it further out in time and in strike. Check your emotions. How'd that feel? **The last thing you'll want to do** is experiment with something new and dive straight into deep waters by selling 10 contracts of your AAPL shares on some random strategy (even if it deemed as "safe"). You may find out that you do not have the stomach for risk, your emotions will take over, you wont be able to sleep at night and the next morning you'll capitulate out of the trade at the most inopportune momement for a huge loss only to see later that if you stayed with the strategy you would have been able to exit for a huge gain (not speaking from experience here...happaned to some other guy...yeah!).

Portfolio: 26% in Google, 4% Air Canada, everything else is < 4%. Google is that much because it's my benchmark for stocks to invest in. My target price is $200+ which yield a 26% annualized return, and since it's a mega-cap I'm comfortable holding that much. Regrets: Selling MMM, NET too soon and all of a quantum computing stock (I still think it's overvalued, but did not expect the market to go so crazy over it). Not buying HOOD last year when it was down 7% that one day. I should've bought META. SBUX was a good play just before the CEO announcement. Would've sold for a bag right after the pop. Some stupid fuck on reddit fear mongered over XP and I sold it even though it would've been a 60% return if I still owned it. I was fucking around in my FHSA and owned TQSM at one point. Absolutely dumb move on my part. Another regret is bying STLA instead of Volkswagon. I drive a Lexus, but Audi's are cool too. Losers: INTC (100% on me), XIFR (yield traps are real lol), HUMA (I believed reddit in thinking FDA approval would be a catalyst, and it turns out to be the opposite LOL). Biases: I still think XIFR (2%) and LAC (3%) will pay out in the long term (5+ years). I'm unsure about what the future holds for HUMA (1%).

Yep, people are just revisioning the past with rose tinted glass, I still remember people saying Windows '98 was better when they released Windows ME. Vista was better than XP if you had the hardware for it, but it was stuttering trash if you didn't have DDR3 and at least a duo core with 4mb L2. The 'Vista Capable' requirements was basically a lie to get people to upgrade, I mean your computer behaving like a screenshot is still capable I guess.

Why *would* a wealthy old man, who spent all his life abusing children, women, and power in the sleaziest way, inheriting billions but bankrupting businesses repeatedly, and still having all the luxuries in the world, be so desperate to take the reigns of the US, *again*, at age 78--- just to start wars with our closest allies, inevitably killing children and reluctant soldiers who were born in the wake of 9/11? And who should be able to live peaceful lives into the 2070s and 2080s? This man is unlikely to see the 2030s, but his post-9/11 child will suffer all his life, as the climate, culture, compassion, kindness, community, and kinship that has made life on earth meaningful and worrth living, face harrowing threats. Why would a man  Well, this man could be a malignant narcissist with a deep insatiable greed inside him, coupled with sociopathic tendencies and deep insecurities. Well, he needs more power. To feel adequate. Quite sad, if the billions he affects didn't matter more than his soothing his feelings and treating his personality disorders. But the REAL reason, this guy who's always wanted to "alpha" and chased clout and paper-thin ego-stroking all his life, is this: He can't be one-upped. "Might makes right" and he feels entitled to every gold medal he sees, like a gaming addict who maxes out their credit card buying boosts and free XP with in-game transactions.  Just like this other guy I hear just got roasted by the official Assassin's Creed twitter account! This guy apparently hires dozens of professional gamers to level him up on a bunch of different gaming leaderboards. Everyone knows gaming like that is a full time job. Like running a car company. Or a spaceship startup. Or a giant social media site. This guy is so out there that he sexually assaulted a massage therapist on his private plane, and claims he has the self-discipline needed to run massive companies, but the self-discipline to avoid grabbing the boobs of any woman who is nice to him.  (So, he owns a private jet, but can't pull a single woman not on his staff?) and then offered her several ponies if she wouldn't tell on him. Because girls (how old?) are really into ponies, I guess, and I guess she just buys a paddock to keep them in and sends half her massage therapist salary to her neighbor to feed them while she travels around in the confines of a classic unsafe workplace? Anyway, that first guy I was talking about, the old guy, you should know:  He buys $300 steaks at ritzy establishments, always well-done with Ketchup and a 2L of Coca-Cola. He "fires" the first waiter... his voice was too European and brought up confusing thoughts. Luckily, after snapping at the waitress in the other section, and He eats half of the final steak after sending it back 3 times. Twice because "you need to microwave it so it doesnt get so hard and crispy on the outside,"  And lastly because the meat wasn't diced into small enough bits.    Storms out clutching the remains of the 2-liter, and shouts after the chef who suddenly needs to inspect the walk-in.  "You'd never make it at McDonalds!" screams this old grouch. This sounds a lot like a lot of American brokerages and wealth management firms. Selling inferior products with high fees is something normal in this industry. Also investors not understanding the financial products they are invested is also very common. I have worked in the industry and 99% of people don't even understand the difference between equities and bonds even after you explain it to them 50 times. You can see this even on finance subreddits, people invested in leveraged/options ETFs without any idea how they work, people playing with options without even understanding the basics, hell - probably 80% of people here think that if they buy more ETFs they increase diversification. As long as what they do is legal, which it seems it is, I think this reports is a nothing burger. XP also dropped 1.77% yesterday (in line with markets) when this report was published. So the impact seems minimal.

From a thread on X: In short, the foreigners analyzed the situation without considering that XP is a Brazilian company. And Brazilian companies have to jump through hoops when it comes to taxation here. XP has two funds it uses for operations (such as COEs and several others). Funds are taxed at 15%, while financial companies are taxed at 40% on profits. If the profit belongs to the fund, the holding company pays less tax. XP also requires less capital to meet Basel agreements. There is no pyramid scheme or fraud—just a touch of Brazilian seasoning.

Here are some news on the stock from today. well thats until the pseudo-monopoly was complete. almost 0 say in the updates and apps your computer has. spying on info to sell to marketers. this all takes time to implement. Its not like they were gonna make money off of failed projects like Skype or Linkedin. Remember when Windows Vista came out and people were ready to just shut down microsoft because it was such shit compared to Windows XP? shit was trash. They rushed to put out windows 7 and that sucked too. Its thanks to Gate's schmoozing of the government as to why they making money. Microsoft Teams replaced zoom. pretty much outlook used in a lot of state and federal settings. this is all monies going to them. Without Big Gov, people like gates would have been out of business a while ago and someone more competent less predator would have taken his place.

RISC isn't inherently more power-efficient, though, and ARM isn't truly RISC nowadays while modern x86 processors have a microcoded execution core to get the job done. As for the rest of your point, I/O has pretty much always been the bottleneck, and even multithreading differences between pure RISC/pure CISC are the same order of magnitude and realistic speeds of applications will be far more impacted by things like making code friendly with branch prediction (which most developers don't bother to do anyway because it isn't needed in 99.99%+ of cases). As for the energy being the common bottleneck nowadays, this is largely true for GPUs. Nobody is discussing building nuclear plants so they can power their CPUs. A single CPU will often use something like 1/4 or less as much as a GPU, and when it comes to training high-end AI models, we're looking at arrays of thousands of GPUs. That said, I think your overall thesis here is probably correct - that it's just a matter of time for x86. The main things it had going for it (like compiler optimization and such) were initial hurdles. In other words: the moat already has a bridge. But I am just not so sure that x86 (or CISC in general) is on the way out quite as quickly as you suggest. Advancements with ARM were needed for the gradual rollout of mobile devices, and will only continue with the increase in wearables and IoT over time. The benefits to data center power draw aren't negligible but were secondary - capitalizing on the benefit rather than being the primary push. I mean, you said it yourself: "most CPUs in datacenters sit mostly idle." As a result, while I agree the trend is happening and likely to continue, I'm not as confident that we're about to see any event that leads to x86 "going vertical." I've seen enough companies still relying on mainframes and windows XP to know that ARM won't likely reach dominance in data centers until at least ~2040 and that x86 is likely to cling onto its last 1/3 or so of the market share for far longer than it should.

Wholeheartedly with you I only caught a little bit of the growth this morning, but I chickened out and reinvested in TNXP and unfortunately missed the $.54 hike (I had a limit set for .54 but it was too short & didn’t execute in time) However, my breakpoint for (TN) XP is .52. I’m likely just gonna pull out evenly and catch this on the next low point. I also got an .39 and then exited at .47, and then I got packing again at .47 and exited again at .51 lol
