Listen up investors, I have been a die hard 100% Windows user since XP and I for the first time ever was driven to insanity with the broken updates, push of AI and copilot that I installed Linux and left Windows forever. If this tells you anything we Windows users are fed the hell up with this slop, Also the AI vibe coded updates are breaking things so fast and preventing many of us who use our main PC's for work from actually getting anything doe. The January update is what drove me over the edge. It broke my PC so bad I spent 5 long hours just getting it to work again so I can get my clients orders completed. Never again. not going back. Linux has matured plenty enough to now be fully viable as a full daily driver OS.

I can personally escort tankers via counter drones, intercepting them before they arrive... And all I ask for in return is XP, new builds, and the opportunity to climb the leaderboard. It's time to draw on America's greatest strength. Gamers... Rise up.

**I'm building Pulse - a paper trading app where you compete with friends 🟣** So I got into stocks a while back and realized there was no good way to actually learn without risking real money. Everything out there is either too complicated, too boring, or just a basic simulator with no social element. So I decided to build something different. Pulse lets you trade with real market data, build your portfolio, post your picks, and compete on leaderboards with people your age - all without putting a single dollar on the line. The app is fully built and working. You can search any ticker, view charts, place paper trades, earn XP, level up, and see how you stack up against other traders. There's a social feed where you can share your picks with Bullish or Bearish tags and track your P/L in real time since you posted. its not on the app store yet but its close.

I had an interesting conversation with Claude (AI by Anthropic) about whether Duolingo can be replaced, and it actually gave a really balanced take. When I asked if an app like Duolingo could be built, Claude said yes — but with a catch. Technically you *can* build a language learning app with lesson flows, XP systems, streaks, and progress tracking. But competing with Duolingo is a whole different story. Claude explained that Duolingo's real value isn't the app itself — it's the years of research into how people learn, millions of users generating data, and the psychological habit-forming mechanics that keep people coming back. That's what's genuinely hard to replicate. So why do people say Duolingo is in danger? Because the *concept* is easy to copy, even if the execution isn't. New AI-powered language apps could chip away at its market — but underestimating how hard it is to replace Duolingo's engagement and community would be a mistake. Curious what you all think — is Duolingo actually replaceable?

Mentions:#XP

The idea that AI will replace learning apps is so off. Duolingo’s biggest strength isn’t just teaching content - it’s gamification. That’s the real product. Streaks, notifications, XP, leagues, friend leaderboards... it’s a highly engineered habit machine designed to keep users consistent. Yes, you can learn a language by chatting with AI. But most people won’t stick with it long term. There’s no structure, no progression system, no accountability, no dopamine. Learning isn’t about access to information - it’s about sustained motivation. And Duolingo has spent years optimizing exactly that.

It will 100% replace many jobs. (e.g., Programmers) where 1/10 might survive and only the best of the best end up being solution architects using AI to replace the other 9. I am a physicist and it has served me well, keep it up AI, get better and stronger. In my opinion AI in its current state is like DOS waiting for WIN XP for the next big jump.

They have a long tail of enterprise it solutions that companies are willing to pay for to keep alive. Like people still use windows XP lol. All of it will get copilot upgrades over time. They also provide infra to Anthropic and OpenAi. Sure they overspend but it will be worth I long term. It’s too big to fail for the us government (see reaction to anthropic for defence agencies). It might dip some more though. There is still a lot of uncertainty.

Well, speaking specifically about this 'Banco Master scandal', they were amongst the top brokers pushing those rotten CDs to retail. Their shitty model is openly inspired by Charles Schwab's: hiring droves of advisors all across the board selling dirty toiled papers to low and high income investors and then flushing everyone together: advisors, investors AND dirty papers. They're also not our 'Robinhood' as digital banks like Nu and Inter had more balls to actually go into our hoods and rob them. Reality is that the 'old big banks club' still owns Brazil (and XP is not a member) and they already built (or bought) their own cassino-style brokers. There's no such thing as Square/Block here (search for 'favelas' on Maps to get a better view on local concept of urban planning): big banks are the leading the race in P.o.S. systems, PIX (our Cash app) is free and public and BNPL has been in Brazilian economy since forever. Even the candy stand next to schools has its own system (a notepad). I don't know why I spewed all that brain-dead word vomit above, here's the bottom line: Gringo whales drive 60%+ of the Bovespa volume. If they’re regarded enough to take the Brazil Risk, they’re not dumb enough to bet on the little ones instead of those who run this dumpster fire. TLDR: You're a true regard. Shitty paper on hands based on literally nothing. Buy $ITUB, $BBD, $BSBR instead if you have a single brain cell left willing to make some money. NFA

What are your thoughts on XP? I bought a little of this stock back in 2020 because I wanted some Latin America exposure in my portfolio and I was printing money with Square/Block at the time, so I thought XP could be a proxy to that. But my dip buying has only brought more pain and I'm down 25%. Can you explain where they fit in and why no one talks about them?

36M, 14y XP sw eng I used AI at my company to basically code a workaround application that does some of what gitlab's (code repo software) paid features do. Took me an afternoon to code each feature. If you know what you're doing, AI is a beast in the right hands. I think the amount of competition coming out of grandma's garages is gonna be insane in the next few years. I don't even think moated companies with cloud infra are gonna be safe tbh (azure, aws, etc). I still don't think humans are getting replaced. We are getting augmented. If used properly and for the benefit of the users, AI is simply ground breaking and all empowering to people. Even i, who used to shit on these things, am now seeing that. However, i do also see over hype and a bloody bubble

I saw the interview that ccn did to the guy that most people now call Satoshi. He was a tall white guy wearing a hoodie and he say he and a partner working together to create a new currency in fact he never even mentioned crypto or Bitcoin He said he was a cryptographer and he was using he's skills on to create a new currency that will bring transparency and be independent from the banking system. They laugh at him and call him crazy in every news outlet they interviewed him. I follow all his appearances in the News I even try to buy Bitcoin the first months that was available the system was been tested as it was launched and if you buy or try to buy Bitcoin at the time then you was getting 100 Bitcoins as a appreciation gift for participating on the system test Even if the purchase was a failure just like mine did because I didn't have a hard disc with enough space to download $100 dollars of Bitcoin at the time so I got one 100 Bitcoins that were downloaded into the hard drive of my HP windows XP computer that got stolen from my house . 9 years ago. So no that dude was never involved . And the guy that today is known as Satoshi he say that was not his real name.

We went from windows XP to the iPhone in less than ten years. If you think AI is just some circle jerk grift then you are not paying enough attention to how technology progresses in the real world. It is conceivable that AI becomes simply better than humans and current software at many important things pretty soon. Perhaps everything in our lifetimes. AI is not just a novel chat bot using statistical magic to churn out slop, that's just the retail version of a technology that's going to keep changing markets and the world whether we like it or not.

They will definitely be losing a lot of customers. I mean they already are, look at any OS marketshare chart and look at how Windows has been slowly declining for nearly 2 decades. People are moving to Macs, Chromebooks, and with Linux getting even easier to install and use, Linux is going to start taking over. My YouTube is suddenly filled with people complaining about Windows 11 and then trying out some sort of Linux distro, I genuinely believe Linux will see a huge rise over the coming decade. I built my first gaming PC over Christmas (As a Mac user, I was partly excited to try out Windows again having not used it since Windows XP) and realised Windows 11 really is awful, then found out about Bazzite which is basically just SteamOS. Found out I don’t even need Windows, I didn’t even get around to paying to activate it. With Bazzite and the Steam Machine on the horizon, that’s PC gamers sorted. Then you’ve got countries like France creating their own distro with GendBuntu. China, South Korea, India, Germany, Denmark, all migrating to some form of Linux in some capacity.

And Windows in general has been the same bloated piece of shit for like 15 years now. They don't take old stuff out and it's full of redundant nonsense. The dialog boxes and install and properties/settings windows look the same as windows XP. It is insane that as a matter of owning it you will all but guaranteed have to do a "clean install" at least twice a year to make it work again because some random driver or software update for something broke something else. Or for no apparent reason whatsoever. They have a nearly total monopoly on computer OS so they have no incentive to fix anything or make it good. It’s like if EA Games had an operating system.

I think it's more along the lines of - it stopped growing. Here's the number of users: [https://imgur.com/a/uc3r4XP](https://imgur.com/a/uc3r4XP) The market was expecting that growth to continue (look at the year of users and the growth rate). It was INSANE. It wasn't related to covid (persay) - it's related to they stopped getting new customers -> no more growth (aside from extracting more value from existing users). Kinda abruptly stopped (Rather than tappered like we usually see) causing a rapid decline to a fair valuation of a company that isn't growing. \-- Sure - buybacks are there. But where is that money coming from? The... users. If it's not growing at all & has a steady business it's easier to value. You can project roughly future revenues, profits, etc. It's a relatively stable business, with consistent income, paying out dividends (via buybacks). Look at other companies doing similar things - they're valued at similar multipliers. I don't see why it should skyrocket back up without any growth.

Wrong. Ubisoft's problem is exactly that they shove XP boosts, "time-savers," and $20 skins into single-player games like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. It doesn't "save" them; it just makes their $70 games feel like cheap mobile apps. People aren't refusing to buy big games, they’re refusing to buy games that treat them like an ATM. If you need to "milk" your audience just to break even, your production model is broken, not the market.

Not OP, but my understanding is that AI itself is not great, but companies are SO behind on tech that the "AI message" is getting companies to use tech in their companies more. Thus, it's not really an AI revolution, but a tech revolution. Prior to AI, how many companies were running on like.. Windows 99 or Windows XP? That's just a small example that most of us can relate to. There is much more behind the scenes.

In the mid 90's I picked up a dual processor pentium pro server with gobs of ram and a matrox millennium. It was so much ram for the time I didn't know what to do with it all so I made a ram drive and installed my games on it. It had some quirks too. Windows 95/98 didn't have the multiprocessor support needed to run on it. And XP didn't exist yet. So I had to use Win NT4.0. But despite the oddities of using a server it was great. I put SLI Voodoo2's in it and felt like a gaming god above everyone else stuck with one processor and megabytes of ram.

Pretty much the advice of Warren Buffett. To me beating the S&P 500 long term requires years of work / XP that you could invest in side business or self investing that would enable you to double, triple or more your investing capacity. So yeah, Buy a low cost SP500 ETF the laziest way and invest your time / energy in earning more. I prefer to double my investing capacity than chasing 5-10% alpha on the SP500 (which is far from being easy).

Polaris ($PII) is definitely a "quiet giant" in the powersports world, and looking at a comeback isn't just wishful thinking—there is some serious substance to the idea. After a rocky period with supply chain issues and high interest rates hitting consumer spending, the gears are finally starting to turn. Here is a deep-dive "human" analysis of why $PII might be gearing up for a major rally. 🚀 🏎️ 1. The "Adventure Economy" is Real People aren't just buying "things" anymore; they are buying experiences. Polaris dominates the off-road vehicle (ORV) and snowmobile markets. * Brand Loyalty: Their RZR and Ranger lines have a cult-like following. * Post-Pandemic Shift: The shift toward outdoor recreation wasn't just a 2020 fluke; it’s a permanent lifestyle change for millions. As inflation cools, that "fun money" is going back into the garage. 🌲🛞 📉 2. The Valuation Argument (Value Play!) If you look at the numbers, Polaris is trading at a very attractive price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio compared to its historical average. * The Bottom is In? The stock has been beaten down due to fears of a recession. However, the company has stayed profitable and continues to pay out a solid dividend. 💸 * Dividend Aristocrat Status: They’ve increased their dividend for 25+ consecutive years. This shows the "adults are in the room" managing the cash flow. 🔌 3. The Electric Frontier ($$$) Polaris isn't just sticking to gas. Their partnership with Zero Motorcycles for the RANGER XP Kinetic (their all-electric utility vehicle) is a game-changer. * Quiet Power: Farmers, hunters, and industrial users want electric for the torque and the silence. Polaris is way ahead of many competitors in actually shipping functional EV tech in the powersports space. 🔋⚡ 🛠️ 4. Inventory Correction For the last 18 months, dealers had too much stock, which forced Polaris to offer big discounts (killing their margins). * The Good News: Dealers are finally clearing that old inventory. When new 2025/2026 models hit the floor, they can sell them at full price again. This means margin expansion is right around the corner. 📈 ⚠️ The "Keep it Real" Risks To be a good taster of stocks (just like chocolate!), you have to acknowledge the bitter parts: * Interest Rates: These are expensive toys. If the Fed doesn't keep cutting rates, the monthly payment on a $30k RZR is still too high for the average Joe. 🏦 * Competition: BRP (Can-Am) is a fierce rival and they are constantly neck-and-neck on tech. 🧐 The Verdict Is it making a comeback? Signs point to YES. Polaris is a "coiled spring." It has a dominant market share, a healthy dividend, and a brand that people actually love. If the macro-economy stays stable, $PII is positioned to ride back to its previous highs. Final Vibe: It’s a classic "unloved" stock that’s waiting for the market to realize it’s actually a powerhouse. 💎🙌 PT - 110 to 125 imo

Its been a little minute since post but can I throw in my .02. \-1. I don't like "classic" condors (all calls or all puts) because they contain a credit spread on one side. I've had bad experiences where a short was assigned, but the long hadn't kicked in yet. So I build mine with a Put debit spread, and Call debit spread. (Buy put Highest strike, sell put high strike, Closing day price, sell call low strike, buy call lowest strike) Then I don't have to worry about shorts activating and no longs to cover. Like a weird Iron condor. ( I got assigned because life one day didn't let me close my trade and it went to expiration, close your trades! Pain to do this daily) \-2. You are doing 2 trades, a few things. \-More commission, 8 trades or legs. Robinhood is no longer free options. Eats into profit, not a lot but still... \- You are not covered, in your example from 588 - 589. It will land there from your data 3.4% of time. Plus lower returns from 587-588 and 589-590. That's basically a $3 gap of loss in the middle. Why not just make 1 trade, -1% : +1% instead of -1:0, 0:1. Very similar results a bit lower max profit but higher probability. ( 0 to 1% may be 40.52% of time, but its gonna be under +-.7% a majority hence dead zone issue. ) \-Another thing for the dead zone to think about, lots of time price hangs out in bad areas and doesn't move until close to market close.. Be aware robinhood 30 min before market closes auto executes trades ITM or close to ITM automatically.. So say your a few pennies from being ITM, and 2:30cst rolls around, they will close you out and you wont get max return. If you buy just one bigger condor you only need to watch and worry around the wings. Never around the middle. Your way, lots of prices to worry about and watch.. 2 outer wings 2 inside wings \-3. Managing condors daily is a B...... I did this 1% daily move strat and it has its place but I quit it pretty fast. Now I use condors if say GEX is showing a growing vol at some way higher/lower price, I can then set up the condor and manage it over a week/month(s) rather than daily. Or I more use the inverse (long iron condor) on volatile companies around earnings season. Where I expect a big +- surprise and big moves away from price and I dont know the direction. Anyways, been 7 months, I'm sure you have way more XP in options now. Just some hard lessons I learned along the way.

I don't know about capex and depreciation schedules, but I work in healthcare IT and ain't NOBODY depreciating expensive equipment like that at that rate. Hell IT healthcare tries to get a decent decade out of equipment, there are still PACS and XRAY systems using windows XP. Nobody is going to spend this capex and then dismantle it in 3 years. Just no way in hell.

>Its been downhill since 98/XP You have all forgotten there used to be time (mostly 95 & 98, partially XP) when you had to format PC and reinstall windows every 6-24 months, depending on the way you used them, because windows would with use become cluttered and start randomly freezing or getting blue screen of death among other problems...

I do have a Win XP desktop running SONAR 5 sorta for this reason. Unless I connect it to the internet, I can track for days. And I don't really care about plugs other than a compressor and EQ.

No disagreement there. I didn't recall that it was 3 years between the initial wide release and SP2. That's a lot of time to suck. But it spent many more years delivering! I even have a Win XP PC from 2006 that I still run for recording music. What I *do* recall was the horror of Vista being forced upon the world...

XP did suck. When people fondly remember XP, the remember XP from Service Pack 2 an onward, which is a different OS from XP in all but name.

Its funny cause 7 was shit too. People just didn't shit on it that much cause Vista was so bad. Its been downhill since 98/XP. Every release changes things just to change things and every new feature is bloatware or spyware. Nobody needs their OS to do anything besides be stable, not hog resources, and run programs.

This upgrade reflects Berenberg's positive outlook on the long-term growth of Rolls-Royce's engine delivery, particularly for large aircraft, and the company's improved internal performance, although the "hold" rating suggests caution remains. This is a change from an earlier "sell" rating in January 2024, which was based on concerns about the XWB-97 engine and the company's future plans."

> Adobe’s approach is industry leading, That's not saying much. Everybody I know in the creative space that _can_ leave adobe, has. Everyone else is wishing they could be so lucky. I don't know a single person that was sad when they learned that adobe wouldn't be acquiring and ruining Figma. Us "normies" left the bloated mess that is Acrobat behind _ages_ ago and I don't know anybody that pines for the days when clicking a PDF link would freeze your computer for 60s while the red bloat loaded. Basic PDF viewing has been built into my browser for more than a decade and I haven't installed acrobat reader on a computer since windows XP. > But I’m saying that we need to do something even if it’s not 100% effective. Your condom analogy is correct in the narrow sense of "nothing is perfect, **correct** use matters!" but it breaks down when you examine what a condom does vs what C2PA tries to do. Condoms buy down risk, C2PA is promoted as this magic thing that can bestow a trusted aura on media. Your analogy doesn't capture the flaws though: c2pa will happily [bestow it's blessing on manipulated media, obscure provenance gaps, and enable tracking](https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/1010-C2PAs-Butterfly-Effect.html). It would be _really bad_ if people started to rely on c2pa and then somebody figured out how to mint "authentic" content. Can you imagine if somebody managed to [create CSAM and get C2PA to say that /u/KJEveryday was the originator](https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/1013-C2PAs-Worst-Case-Scenario.html)? You'd be right and proper fucked with zero recourse because - as we all know - c2pa is infallible and if the computer says you made this nasty image, you did it, straight to jail! **In security/integrity related contexts, 99% is a failing grade.** > I wonder what you think a better approach would be? Genuinely asking! "better" implies that c2pa [works](https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/1024-IEEE,-BBC,-and-C2PA.html) :). The fundamental problem is that you have one "solution" trying to solve all aspects of the _authentication_ problem **and** the _provenance_ problem. It would be best if we instead focused just on the problems that do have known solutions and will play nicely with the analogue loophole. We have (imperfect) technology to ensure authenticity and it's _very_ wide spread but proving _where_ a particular image came from is only going to have a reliable solution after the analogue loophole is closed and we have moved beyond the need for cameras and microphones to record the world around us.

Smart way of thinking 👌 Sometimes the extra 3–5% isn’t just about math, it’s about the trade-off with your time + stress. If you can redirect those 20 hrs/month into leveling up skills, career, or even building a business, the long-term ROI could beat both bonds and flips. Depends if you want safe XP now or to grind for bigger gains later.

Mentions:#XP
r/stocksSee Comment

Yes, but this is a little difference because the penalty is that you literally can't use the app. Its not like something where you are in a pay-to-win/compete scenario (like with the "better cards" example). In fact, although they have a league system there is nothing about paying that makes you more stronger; You can't even convert the gems you get from rewards into XP boosts (which is really the only way you get an advantage). There are no flashy Duolingo skins. It is that they deliberately do things to make your experience unpleasant, to make language learning harder etc. unless you pay.

"Pretty good" is . They are mid at best lol. Watered down RPG systems that provide no real gameplay value and are there purposefully to slow your progress down in hopes of buying XP boost. MTX shop in a singleplayer game. Vast open world that admittedly looks nice but is filled with the most boring slop fetch quests and the classic "clear the outpost" activities. Main story and characters so forgetful they could be a movie starred by the Rock. If that's pretty good, what's bad? Now, this will be an asshole elitist take from me but AC has joined the holy trifecta of "Fifa, CoD, AC" games. Which means when somebody tells me they mainly play one of these games, I immediately know they ain't really into gaming. They are just killing time.
