Overstock allowed you to buy stuff with Bitcoin on their website in 2016 and 2017. It worked smoothly if you had a wallet, address, could copy and paste, and even knew what BTC was. It was probably not used by the average user. At checkout you had option of paying with credit card or enter your wallet address. If using BTC to pay you got two receipts one in fiat with shipping info, etc., the other for on chain. Interestingly, I returned, for free a $200 item and they reimbursed the cost in the original value of BTC to my wallet, not the fiat value. At that time 1BTC=1BTC held! Due to BTC price volatility I actually made money. Without digging through old records it was about 6OUSD. Of course, had Bitcoin’s price gone down I could easily have lost fiat value. The volatility must have wrecked havoc on their accounting system…and they have a abandoned such crypto payments. Today, you can reload a debit card with crypto with the fiat value of crypto at the time of purchase so retailers process payments as normal debit/credit card. So you can spend your crypto, but it seems forever linked to fiat on today’s online purchases. Until the link between crypto and fiat can be resolved this will continue to be a conundrum for companies trying to adopt crypto payment. Note: Tesla allows 1 to 1 Doge payment for some merchandise. But rather stating price in fiat they list it in Doge and the amount to Doge listed as the price is programmed to change with the fiat price…so one day a mug has a list price of 115 Doge, the next day it’s 175 Doge because the fiat price of Doge went up. This change of the amount of Doge to reflect current fiat price is simple for a sophisticated tech company such as Tesla, but must be challenging for a small business trying to adapt any crypto payment solution. Paying directly in any crypto, in person, is also impossible for people without a wallet and cumbersome for those who do.

I heard of storj very long time ago. Wow. Nice one. Besides staking for passive income, I love OUSD's HODL and earn concept. Unique Network also does same with their NFTs. Atleast, I don't have to giveaway my tokens or nfts to earn passive income.

There are passive income opportunities in the space in all sectors of it. I mean when it comes to coins (just holding tokens like OUSD gives you passive income. No staking at all). NFTs on the other hand have their fair share of passive income opportunities (holding NFTs like that of Unique Network's chelobricks and substrapunks gives you a 50% rev share of earnings for the Unique Network marketplace quarterly. No staking at all required). And also, when it comes to the metaverse, altho I'm critically looking into this, I think buying lands in the metaverse can be a good source of passive income as well. I'll let you know what I found out when I'm certain.

There is a small 0.25% fee if you choose to use the [ousd.com](https://ousd.com) dapp to go back from OUSD to USDC/T/DAI which is there as a security feature but this fee is easily avoidable using any AMM or Kucoin/Gate If you are not happy with the current interest, then [participate](https://vote.ousd.com/#/) in the weekly strategy allocation.

r/CryptoCurrencySee Comment

Every deposit and withdrawal has fees, not just one time to open the account (wallet). No bank charges fees for deposits or withdrawals. And yes, there are the good days on APY (the exceptions from the norm). But what's most worrisome is the declining AUM (TVL), in addition of course to the APY that's very low and not commensurable with the risk. The total supply graph time can't be changed, but if it could be changed to 9 or 12 months, it'd be more obvious. Likewise if APY history was 1 year, you'd see how starkly lower is the rebase multiple now than before, which further exacerbates the low yields problem. I've been monitoring OUSD for the last year, and it's been on a steady and fairly rapid downwards path.

With the current market instability, how is it possible for me not to count on stablecoins. Have been into OUSD for while, and I have been enjoying the automatic yields that come with holding the stablecoin in the wallet. Recently, there is an update from MakerDao sharing how the whole system works and how Origin team backs 28Million OUSD with DAI. This is actually over 58% of the total circulating supply of OUSD. Invariably, what this means is that, more OUSD in the wallet for more yields.

I can still count very much on my favorites stablecoins in this space, BUSD and OUSD. Staking my BUSD on binance and also providing liquidity for OUSD on Curve platforms, which gives CRV token as reward and a very significant APY.

r/CryptoMarketsSee Comment

You are so on point. OUSD is also backed by other stablecoins like USDC, USDT and DAI.

r/CryptoMarketsSee Comment

Having to see Origin protocol backing over 58% of OUSD of all its circulating supply with DAI, is a big win for all OUSD holders and users. This means with OUSD in the wallet, here comes more yields in the wallet.

OUSD being a stablecoin that automatically receives yield makes it an ideal product for mainstream users entering crypto and DeFi for the first time. The stablecoin makes it so easier for non-crypto individual to easily navigate their ways in this space by giving them automatic daily yield in the wallet, even when not staked nor locked.

It is just surprising to see OUSD earning automatic yields in the wallet, even when not staked nor locked by the holders. Meanwhile, this is done by deploying stablecoins - USDC, DAI and USDT, that backed OUSD into other DeFi Protocols.

I actually understand your point of view. Not easy to lose one's hard earned money just like that. However, if I may encourage you, you can still do some few stablecoins that give passive yield in the wallet even without the holders having to stake or lock the stables, which means you still earn income from holding these stable without locking or staking them. Amongst my many other stablecoins, I do OUSD which gives me an automatic yield in the wallet, without me having to worry of locking or staking it.

Mentions:#OUSD

Thank you for the update. After checking the list, I feel so cool to see all my favorite stables making it so far and they are still much pegged to the dollar. At the moment, I do USDC and OUSD.
