HIFO is a different method than Fidelity's Tax Sensitive of Schwab's "Tax Lot Optimizer" choice. For example, Schwab Tax Lot Optimizer chooses in the order of short term loss lots, then long term loss lots, then long term gain lots, then short term gain lots. This is often better than HIFO. FIFO is generally the worst choice as it liquidates lowest cost basis shares first. You DON'T want to recognize gains if possible, since that is what you pay tax on. The one situation where recognizing gains is good is when you tax gain harvest when your long term capitals gains tax rate is zero.

Tesla has the most advanced self driving software right now, and their competition is diahhrea-tier. Tesla will dominate self driving long haul trucking, self driving food delivery, self driving taxis, etc. Not to mention, tesla is expanding into electricity supply and tons of other things. I already knew that. I have a sizable hydrogen position because of it, and I kinda think they’re right. EVs essentially run on 60% coal and natgas in the US. It’s madness. I was a just using Toyota as an example because of their thoroughly built out manufacturing base and enterprise value of $400B. I thought Tesla was a big stretch at a $600B marketcap, but I’m willing to accept that price. Just fits easy into $1T combined value. I think if you ask 100 auto industry analysts who the best auto manufacturer of the last 40 years is, 80-90 say Toyota.

I mean crypto doesn’t HAVE to be used to purchase anything if that’s not its purpose. While they’re labeled crypto “currencies” as an umbrella term, many of them operate much more as utility tokens. Even bitcoin is overall a failure in terms of what it was actually supposed to do, be a currency. But people transacting with crypto is still a thing that’s done. Very early stages of mainstream adoption, but it’s being done whether we like it or not. I agree it hasn’t been successful to the point where we see consistency outside the dark web of where crypto’s are used to purchase goods and services, but that’s separate from the point that many, unlike BTC, operate as utility tokens. I think DeFi being THE top market for crypto is a pretty valuable answer. Yes it’s a newer market, but it is not going unnoticed even by rich and powerful people/firms. And as it becomes more accessible, that addressable market will continue to grow. BTC is looking to take over the place of gold in the world (on top of still being a way to do daily transactions. I think it sucks for that but I still see it becoming more and more popular), a whole market of its own. I don’t personally think it will succeed, but honestly, it’s sort of proving me wrong at the moment. Lots of vendors accept crypto. Walmart is looking to start taking them. PayPal is on it. AT&T. Starbucks. Microsoft. AMC. ExpressVPN. Pizza Hut. Even A luxury building was recently bought using ADA (I forgot where). More and more places are starting to accept crypto. Again, I personally don’t think it’s a great way of transacting daily purchases, but it’s being done and more businesses continue to adopt to it. Why use crypto? Well that depends what you’re in it for. DeFi is a great reason to use crypto, though it is overly complicated and intimidating at the moment. But it gives access to powerful financial tools that regular people would otherwise not have access to. Or maybe your someone who greatly values their privacy and would like to keep your purchases hidden. There are cryptos for this very purpose. Point is, there are legitimate answers to your questions. I’d like to think I answered them quite honestly. Sure, it sounds like I’m just another crypto nerd who is bullish 24/7, but I’ve been bearish more often than not. Because while I think that the true value of some of these crypto’s is yet to be realized, the world will periodically show it is not quite ready for crypto the way the community wants it to be. Thus, it will be overvalued and I will be bearish likely before the bull run is even over. And the cycle will repeat until things smooth out more in adoption. But I think we’re currently in the part of the cycle that is bullish for crypto. Where it ends? I can’t say with any certainty, but trend markers are pointing for a peak around December

Biggest automaker is Toyota and not even them are selling 15M per year, they’re somewhere around 10M and their market cap is 200B. Tesla would have to be selling more than 40M cars per year to justify that 1T valuation and I don’t see it.

But market makers are pushing small? Odd lot orders from retail through the dark pools. They are legally suppress buying pressure due to loopholes recently written (2015). This practice entirely undermines the free and fair market. Also, the delay in which dark pool reporting happens is criminally absurd and with almost zero consequence. They sometimes don’t even get reported for weeks. Commonly not reported for days. Mostly reported T+3, iirc. This entire ruse of price benefit to retail for routing order through dark pools actually manipulates selling positions into less profits. It’s manipulating the stock price. Dark pools should only be for block orders. No exceptions.

The real question you should be asking Teslabulls is how much of a car is NOT the engine. Let’s say that EVs are absolutely the future and all major auto manufacturers are going to have to invest capital into designs and plants electric motors and batteries that are at least comparable in performance and price. Certainly looks that way. So a company like Toyota can already manufacture and assemble everything electric vehicles need like a steel/aluminum body, a metal alloy chassis, power windows, windshields and windows, infotainment center, comfy seats, air conditioning, safety monitoring systems, axles, brake pads, dashboards, cup holders, and seat warmers. And Toyota has an installed capacity for those things to the tune of 10M vehicles per year. So all Toyota needs to do is build out their electric motor and battery capacity to match their already immense capacity to produce the rest of the car. They built a little under 11M vehicles in 2019, and only about 20% of that manufacturing has to do with the engines. At under 1M cars projected to be produced this year, Tesla has quite the production gap to close. Now once the new plants in Berlin(side note there is no way they factored wholesale electricity prices above $150/kWh in Germany when calculating their marginal cost of production),Austin, and Shanghai up ASAP and they can increase that capacity to 3M per year by the end of 2023. They still have to buildout triple their capacity to even have a chance to breathe down Toyota’s neck. I guess my point in this is that Tesla’s biggest problem is expanding capacity because they’re going to spend much more than a company like Toyota to get thereZ. You can discount the value of the replacement cost of Toyota’s existing assets. So my big question is, why doesn’t Tesla just use their largest advantage - an astronomical market cap- to do an all-stock transaction and just acquire a large legacy manufacturer and jump forward in capacity by 5-10 years. I don’t have a position in Tesla because I have no idea what it’s going to do with any degree of conviction, but I just don’t see a $T company when I look at their best case scenario as an auto manufacturer. But Tesla + Toyota’s manufacturing assets for $1T? Now we’re quite a bit closer.

I mean, a breather could be as little as just today’s pullback or as much as a month sideways. I guess my fear is just 1k becoming a proper support and bleeding me out by theta. I’d just have to close and try again later. Dream scenario would be something like the post split dump, which probably won’t happen. I prefer PE ratio to determine the valuation as that accounts for Tesla's high margins and profits compared to other automakers. My model says 20M vehicles sold in 2030 at $36,000 ASP and 30% gross margin gives $216B gross profit. Say OPEX is 5.5% of revenue then net income is $140B and EPS is $115. A P/E ratio of 60 to match Amazon, a similar high growth, innovative tech company gives a stock price of $6,900 and a 578% upside in 9 years. That's just automotive though, robotaxi is a $5T market opportunity to replace transportation that Tesla could take 50% of the market with 50% margins, energy could be as big as automotive, insurance, humanoids, cloud AI, boring tunnels, electric planes... none of this is priced into the above. A price target of $6,900 in 2030 is my bear case.

Let's say they get there. 20M vehicles annually at their current average revenue per unit is $960B annual sales. The current market cap is $1T. Other automakers trade at less than 1 P/S. All of the upside of taking a full 1/3rd of the entire global auto market is already priced in as it is.

I'm sure they've made it better, but there's no way a T can go all out for long, there's simply not enough cooling built into the motors to handle that. It's an age old problem. Cooling involves forcing air into places. Forcing air where it doesn't want to go makes drag. Drag makes cars fast. Hot cars can't go fast for long. You have to strike a balance.

To my knowledge, nobody has ever denied current demand. And, yes, future is all Tesla has. It is a $1T company with $32B in annual sales. Google is just as innovative as Tesla and they trade at like 9x sales.

This is me after selling about $5k shares of Apple that I bought for $80 when it hit $100 right around the time that the first iPhone came out. In my defense, I’m blame my stupid need to be on Verizon instead of AT&T because I had no iPhone and therefore didn’t grasp just how many of these they were going to sell. 2-4 years later I was just stupid because I was all in on the Android is kicking Apples butt craze because I was only looking at market share % instead of total sales. Sigh, that small investment left alone would be something over $300k right now. I did buy other stocks and it plus another $5k in my IRA at the time is currently doing quite well. I stay invested and try to only sell when I think I’m worried about a dip continuing and when I want to put money somewhere else instead of it’s up 37%. Taking profits is no longer a reason I use. Putting money somewhere else is what drives my decisions. I don’t usually try to sell to buy the dip because I’m not that good at timing.

Facebook could really use some PR help lol. I’m a bag holder. If you look at their financials they’re all solid. The volatility is solely from FUD. The company has 2.3bn monthly users, so, the most widely used service on the planet, worth less than $1T.

At no point in time have we ever coordinated to buy on specific days and at specific times. And definitely at no point in time have we ever all got together and bought all 6 different stocks at exactly the same time on exactly the same day for 10 months straight to the fucking T. You are beyond foolish to think that. These are precise market buys at precise times in amounts no where near we could afford to do after all this time. These people are buying a share or two a week on their payday, not thousands of shares suddenly within micro seconds of eachother. I am happy you feel that way because you have officially invalidated all of your arguments, thank you.
