Yes they need $2-3B, but they have $1.6B cash right now. Yes there will be new rounds of dilution but every dollar today will be multiples when revenues comes from sates. They are generating som real rev from what they have 75m guided for EOY and ofc it’s gonna ramp. They’ll most likely be getting golden dome plus EXIM (low cost) financing. This most recent dilution has a capped call structure which means less than 2% share dilution. In terms of business opportunities, globalstar is proving SOS emergency connection. Not with end goal of 5G broadband as the offering. So that’s not half of TAM. They said on EC ~60 sates for continuous coverage (2026) for main markets (US, Japan, Europe). Starlink not miles ahead, they can barely do text correctly (need to see trees out in open) can’t do call. Much less 5G broadband and the new V3 are not designed to address that. 3B subs from MNO but 10s of millions is impossible? They are credible research indicating the market is massive. ASTS goal for now is supplemental coverage and charging for that. When more sates get launched they offer other services like home wifi (starlinks business) Not to mention DoD use case (golden dome)

SOS is a scam. There is no bitcoin. There are no miners. Take a peek at the 5 year chart, the absolute insane number of reverse splits, the class action lawsuits, and anything else you’d like to dive into. I’m all for hoping for gains and squeezes, but please do not invest in this company. So many people lost so much because it’s an absolute scam. If you choose to ignore me, fine. But get in, take your profits, and get out. But tread carefully.

Yes, everything u/DC4213 said and I’ll offer that the largest mobile providers (minus Verizon) have signed contracts with $ASTS. Google and Rakuten are major investors. They have proven tech and have made 5G test calls. Having watched how tech progresses, the fact we all get our GPS info from space, the logistics and problems of cell towers popping up everywhere, and the very fact that ground based communications can more easily be compromised by line of sight or physical proximity to equipment, makes space based communications appealing. Apple already has the SOS feature with $GSAT, but they plan to expand on that by either working with $GSAT to retrofit their existing constellation or by working with $ASTS.

Yes. You can look at Iridium in the late 90s as an example but from a pure link budget perspective, the data rates achievable are not impressive and that’s assuming they are able to successfully deploy everything and get the regulatory approval in all areas of the world where they want to serve customers. The reason for such low speeds is obviously the small integrated antenna in cell phones and also the hard restriction on transmit power due to regulatory reasons. But big picture, the juice doesn’t seem to be wealth the squeeze given what terrestrial infrastructure already achieves plus Starlink. Emergency use cases are already pretty well covered by Apple’s new SOS sat feature with Globalstar. Both the technical and the business cases just aren’t there. I haven’t done any calculation lately on fair value but it sure as hell ain’t $7B.
I did that when they first announced they'd partnered with Starlink. Switched back to Verizon after 2 years because I would pull 4G in the middle of a major metro, would be on SOS regularly while traveling, and I received group texts days late. Just wasn't worth it, and it was the same cost as Verizon.
Oh man SOS, on of the first stocks I ever traded several years ago. Money was definitely lost. I definitely think there are better crypto plays out there that aren’t in China. Just be careful and good luck!

The reason apple/GSAT are currently able to offer SOS and messaging services even though neither of them have MNO spectrum is because GSAT has been granted use of different spectrum by the FCC. The caveat is Elon Musk wants access to that same spectrum and he’s now in a position to finally get it after being denied in the past. With Apple’s recent investment money GSAT will be able to build out more ground stations along with enough additional satellites in orbit to handle the additional bandwidth required for broadband services. IIRC they’re currently aiming to have enough satellites in the sky for the technical capability by the end of 2025, but I’m hesitant to believe that claim until I see some proof. I’m not quite as bullish as OP, and GSAT may have a bumpy ride from here on out, but they could definitely be one of the “winners” of this new era of space communications that seems to be unfolding.

I hear you point there. But I also feel that valuation is based on 17 aging satellites that primarily only offer emergency SOS service. So that’s how it’s priced. If they can launch satellites that have anywhere close the tech that $ASTS possess AND $AAPL is the only company that has access to that tech, I think we are talking about a much different company with a different (higher) valuation.
