# Braskem symbol BAK, thoughts? It is in an interesting sector, petrochemicals in theory it will benefit from strong oil prices. What are your thoughts on Braskem? A good buy at these levels? It was at $5 a few weeks ago. Very volatile stock indeed.
Brother, ZOOM OUT. Look at Brazil (EWZ) since the early 2000s. That's a bubble??? The rotation is just beginning. Look at the BAK chart. Only apsychopath value investors like me are in that shit. It's the definition of bottom fishing. The only stock of the ones I listed that's richly values is NU. And so what if another fintech IPO'd today. Even if there were idiosyncratic risks in the sector (I don't think there are) why the hell are you shorting the entire economy via EWZ? People have forgotten how to invest outside the US.
Brazil's economy is effectively one gigantic commodity - metals, oil, wood pulp, grain, soybean, sugar, pork, on an on - and this idiot wants to short the country as we rotate into a commodity supercycle. There's a reason EWZ is up \~50% in a year. I personally own: \- EWZ \- Nubank \- B3 SA Bolsy (Brazilian stock exchange) \- BAK (agriculture) Look up any of those tickers and tell me how they've performed since the start of the year. Newsflash: banks perform well in an economic boom. OP is a moron.
Can you talk more about your thesis on Braskem (NYSE: BAK) please? Recently came across the company and seems very very interesting, especially when so many factors are in place like takeover bids, Alagos lawsuit, industry downturn. And do you mind elaborating on your bet that Brazil's president change?
Day trading means ALLLL DAY AND IF YOU CANT LOCK IN ONE REALLLLY GOOD TRADE PER DAY EVEN IF YOU LOSE ONW YOULL BAK MONEY
BAK 85% $7 avg The petrochemical market is at a historical low point and they have close to a monopoly on South American plastic production. When the market turns it will be a good day
WEE R SOH BAK
Maybe this isn't the place for actual discussion but other than $BAK, I don't think there is a better oppurtunity for quick money to be made than with $PARA. In January it was reported that Skydance/Ellison were looking to offer an all cash bid to take control of National Amusements, and then the second step would be to merge Skydance with Paramount. As time ticked by it reached $10 lows, and then other offers came in and muddied the waters and had acutal bear cases. This time however, I don't see why the thinking is so pessamistic. Entirely putting greed and bias aside, there is a genuine hatred online for paramounts stock after so many have taken a loss and it's dropped so much in value, but if you have a cost basis after the dip today, or at $10 if so lucky, then the chances of profiting are so much higher. Even if the bid from Skydance is the same as the Apollo offer, there would be massive benefits. There is nothing that I've seen to suggest that this would be anything other than an all cash bid like originally reported in January at a nice premium to current prices.
$BAK down enough that a buyout would result in a near 100% gain. If the rumors are to be believed.
> I am lost here. Please correct me if I'm wrong but a quick Google search says Switzerland GDP is 818 billion USD in 2022. While UBS assets are at over 1 trillion. I bought Brazilian oil stocks and Chinese tech this year and up a lot. There is a fair value for these and like US tech stocks they were priced way above it for last few years. If you buy something like PBR, BAK from value side they trade on lower PE that similar company in US or Europe but pay pretty decent dividend and prices are going up. In China tech much more reasonable priced that on the west. Once again there is risk so I don't think I'd ever go for market ETFs here rather individual picks. I bought JD, SNP and little bit of BABA.
BAK is popping like a toast premarket, up 10% but I can’t find any news

BAK, it was part of the dancing meme from last night. Based in Brazil, but there is a huge resin shortage that is needed to turn lumber into OSB and Engineered Wood Products so thought it could be a good play.
I'm playing lumber so I know there is a serious resin shortage. Does BAK produce the type of resin that is used on OSB and Engineered Wood Products?
Three C's Commodity: Steel, every steel company is making money right now especially vertically integrated ones, steel pricing is ridiculous at this point Currency: As of about a month ago the Brazilian Real is one of the most quickly appreciating currencies across the globe due to stabilizing COVID cases and fiscal/monetary policy - they raised rates already this year and are doing it again in June. They dealt with inflation in the 90s so they were quick to jump on this. Also their natural resources: they have a ton of them, China is buying a lot which means tons of foreign investment. As the summer goes on and the US Dollar tanks due to inflation the Brazilian Real will only get stronger Company: My pick is Siderurgica Companhia Nacional, they are the largest vertically integrated steel company in Brazil. They mine their own iron ore which means they aren't exposed to skyrocketing prices of scrap metal. They made a billion dollars in net income last quarter, not bad for a company with a market cap of only $14 billion - Stock is up 30% on the month Other Brazilian cyclicals I like are $CBD $VALE $GGB $BAK $CIG $GGB $JBSAY $SUZ $LND

Yeah, I actually took Finance in Uni for 2 years and that book was in one of our reading lists. One Up on Wall Street was another somewhat similar one I remember, but the one that actually helped me the most in investing was The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman. My strategy for around 8 months was basically to see what ticker was trending on r/pennystocks that day and throw in about $5k-$10k and immediately set a sell limit of anywhere from 20% to 100% of the cost. When I'd get notified that the stock had sold, I'd hop back on r/pennystocks and do it all over again. It was kind of a mixture of day and swing trading. But I typically read actual financial news which usually doesn't apply to day trading. I know more about $AAPL, $GE, or $BAK than I do something like $ Seel. It's just a nice feeling loading up on all of this deeply discounted stuff right now that I don't even care about selling anytime soon.
This is hilarious I mean... I’ve got loads of $CUM just waiting for an opportunity to drop it on some $NIPS or maybe double down on those $BAK shots to the moon
