I wonder if Putin & Russia realize that much of the US is more aligned with them than Netanyahu & Israel. Neither the USSR (CCCP) ever attacked the US like Israel did on the USS Liberty.

You’re whitewashing China like a CCCP shill. I’m not defending the US or anything, but China is nowhere near as magnanimous as you make it out to be. China has no problem violating the rights, health and lives of its citizens on a daily basis. Their R&D policy is to steal IP from anyone and everyone. Giving weak countries bad loans and then strong-arming their way to claiming their ports as Chinese owned and regulated land. The U.S. has plenty of skeletons in its closet, but it’s not like we’re here taking advantage of innocent ol’ China

The problem is not CCCP but the rest of the world - for them US is a unreliable partner and will diversify away. But Amazon is a global firm and can they adapt to non-US supply chain to meet non-US demand? They can? Can they morph into local supplier for local demands?

Well, as a European I envy the US citizens who get protection from the CCCP by their government. Buying Chinese products comes with more than just a financial cost. China controls the port of Piraeus in Athens, controls parts of Spains communication network etc etc. You will never see those countries ever again act independently and democratically on matters concerning China ever again, and through the EU mechanism by extension the entire EU. Sovereignty bought and sold. Idk why everyone on Reddit, who are supposedly enlightened liberals, is so quick to jump on the dictatorship bandwagon as soon as someone waves a chinese dollar in their face.

Tariffs are not the issue, but AMZN is built on a global supply chain that is being dismantled from all sides. In the future neither China nor USA want the flow of goods and services to continue at that scale. The CCCP has openly told the world that they dont think they will need the US market in the future, maybe for some food IMPORTS. AMZN and many others are built on that supply chain that gives access to chinese slave-like labour and lots of low end products that can be sold at a margin.

I don't hate on you, and won't start hating on you. I get you, in fact. But at the same time, I'm hoping you might perhaps get me. The economy is, at the end of the day, political. So is law. So is most everything in society. So discussing economics or law inevitably involves discussing politics. Do I think this is the right sub to discuss Charlie Kirk's murderer, and whatever political leanings he may have had? No. But I much prefer this sub to WallStreetBets, where you can't even share an article saying "Trump imposes new tariffs" without it being removed for being too political because it mentions Trump. As though the guy isn't the President, and isn't imposing tariffs. So between the Wild West of this sub and the CCCP-tier censorship of the original WSB, I honestly prefer this by a long shot.

No it's not. That treatment is the US finally giving back what China has done to our companies.  But fine.  How about the film industry? Chinese investors have had unfettered access to that industry. They've influenced the industry to never show China in a bad light. Meanwhile that industry does NOT have such free access to the Chinese market, and once again the CCCP ensures they are never shown in a bad light.  How about the NBA? Players were punished for tweeting support of the Hong Kong protesters.  How about real estate? We can't own shit in China. Meanwhile Chinese investors have flooded our real estate helping artificially drive up costs.

You realize it's the comparison of byd to Tesla that makes Tesla not just a car company. They have to compete all over the world, and right now the model y is the most sold car in the world. They're doing ok. Byd had benefitted from not paying suppliers, they're at about 270 days. and having the entire ev sector opened up by the CCCP. Byd had like 45 different models. Tesla has 2 that make up like 90% of sales. Look, I think the company is bigger than we realize and they're big players in the future of the automobile industry. And battery. And AI and and and Also, lithium supply chains are changing. Look up the new refinery in corpus Christi TX. We're also "mining" lithium from recycling electronics (look up redwood materials)

No companies like LG makes comparable batteries to Tesla that US manufacturers currently use ex. Rivian. BYD makes batteries that are superior to currently anything that's used in the US. So it the other way around BYD makes batteries that not even US manufacturers including Tesla can currently match. "This is an American company" You're not helping your case here 🤣. The US is trying to start a trade war and impose tariffs when we have import practically all our lithium. No they're an American owned company, not an American company. They're an international company that has to be able to compete in the global market. And right now it looks like BYD is about to run circles around them. They still have to compete with US manufacturers here and practically every other car company in the world. All while their CEO runs around doing anything but run the company and everything he can to tarnish the brand image they spent a decade building. It's not shitting on everything it's called being realistic. Also FYI BYD isn't owned by the CCCP, it's not a state enterprise and is traded on China stock exchanges.

You're not obtuse. Large US Luxury brands have been producing their product in China for a long time. To prevent those factories from stealing their brand and selling it themselves, they put IP (intellectual property) protections in their contracts, which they rely on the Chinese government to enforce. While that enforcement has always been lax, the official position of the CCCP has been to protect US IP. They just threw that in the garbage, which means they can Nike shoes for $20 and Prada handbags for $50 on the open market. Nike and Prada are cut out of the transaction entirely. Obviously, Nike and Prada are never going to outsource to China again. The CCCP knows this, but they're doing it anyway. That means they're done with the US. The immediate effect is unimportant. It's symbolic of the end Chinese manufacturing on behalf of the US.

Piggy backing on your top comment about what else is the safe haven, if not US? No one is saying there is a safe haven now or let us all trust the China Government (CCCP). The point is this can be a starting point of geopolitical shift not in favor of US. These things take time, remember the ocean liner example by Obama in New Yorker in 2016: > They are like ocean liners: you turn the wheel slowly, and the big ship pivots. Sometimes your job is just to make stuff work. Sometimes the task of government is to make incremental improvements or to try to steer the ocean liner two degrees north or south so that, ten years from now, suddenly we’re in a very different place than we were. At the moment, people may feel like we need a fifty-degree turn; we don’t need a two degree turn. And you say, Well, if I turn fifty degrees the whole ship turns over. What the current President thinking is - US is the safe haven and global reserve so we have all the advantage in negotiation and where else are people going to go. So I can do whatever I want and I will come out on top. This will be true now and yes US will come out on top, but by doing so he has steered the ocean liner 2 or 3 degrees south (in not so favorable direction). For e.g. look at this table - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_largest_historical_GDP it took China nearly 45 years to be here and that too with some oppressive democractic ideas. Right now alliances are being rethought and everyone is redoing their long term plans with assumption US can be unreliable. Come on, we pissed off Canada, of all the countries Canada who has been like the most reliable brother you can have. You always have a friend who will show up no matter what and will do what you ask with "no questions asked", that has been Canada for US and you go and piss them off and mistreat them :( Before someone does a gotcha of "oh, so what are you buying now?" - yes I'm still buying VTI and BND. I'm not yet going to put my money in the Chinese market, but I'm more conscious than before about buying other developed markets and companies there.

Russia? Brazil? South Africa? China? India? WTF? Russia is on the brink of collapse, China and India are actually at war, South Africa and Brazil are bankrupt. This whole alliance is a joke and zero chance I’d trust this currency. Taiwan wanting to unify with China? OP do you have any grasp on world news? Do you get all your news from the CCCP? South Korea, Japan, and China working together? Sure that’s like saying Palestine and Israel are going to partner. It’s all a facade these countries all hate each other. China back North Korea, China and SK hate Japan with a passion due to past war crimes and Japan is aggressively rearming and preparing for war with China. Without the US, all three of three countries are fucked.

The most baffling thing about Donald Trump (to me) has always been his confidence that he can stand toe to toe with autocrats who 1) were groomed/trained for decades for this sort of life and 2) succeeded wildly within those systems. Xi's mother had to denounce Xi's father. Xi was sent to a labor camp to dig ditches. Xi rose through the ranks of the CCCP with a combination of smarts and ruthlessness. Everyone who has used a BYD has said that for the price theres no contest. On top of that the costumer service is in the spirit of the chinese model, far far better than what the west offers. Also the strenght comes from the bottom up manufacturing and development of the batteries. They are pushing for new records in charging times and capacity every like 6 months. Mentions:#CCCP

I can almost certainly assert that Trump isn't "following" Putin's orders. Im sure there are no official orders or anything of the such. Putin, despite his awfulness, is quite shrewd and Trump is easily manipulated via stroking his ego and appealing to his prejudices. I'd be willing to bet money this is more of a Dale Carnegie situation where through propaganda and "little birds whispering in ears" Putin is getting Trump to do his bidding by making Trump feel like he's making the biggest of big boy decisions to isolate and cripple the USA (which strengthens the CCCP lite and China).

It’s actually a game of economic and political chicken. The question is who blinks first - or do they both pivot to shift attention away from this trade war. The options are: * the American public blinks first and they protest / revolt * the Chinese people lose too much economic property and the deal the CCCP has with its citizens (freedom for economic prosperity) deal falls apart and the people of China protest / revolt. * both governments see the unpopularity of this, but refuse to back down so they draw attention elsewhere. China by invading Taiwan. The U.S. by invading Greenland.

By getting rid of the primary means of creating chips domestically, there is only one way now for USA to keep chip dominance - by forcing TSMC to move to USA. He may use the same bully tactics that were used against Ukraine to strong-arm Taiwan. Coincidentally, the Chinese premier just released another declaration but with stronger language. They may be sensing a situation whereby this administration withdraws its security blanket from Taiwan to extract concessions, which would be the perfect opportunity for the CCCP to court new Taiwanese patriots who will help turn island politics towards pro-unification.

Mentions:#CCCP

TSMC's entire worldwide workforce is about 76k. It has maybe 3-5k workers in China, not 'hundreds of thousands'. And the last two governments elected have zero interest in being taken over by China. There are currently about 400k Taiwanese living in China, not two million, many being elderly, retired relatives of Chinese citizens. TSMC has one chip plant in China making less sophisticated chips. Assessing whether China would attack Taiwan is difficult from a Western perspective because it makes no sense economically or logically. But China's government has been portraying unification as a great national project of great necessity and have poured money into its military in order to accomplish this. It's military is training to particularly fight the US navy because it has been assumed that would be who would defend Taiwan. Now, assuming they can offer Trump enough of a bribe, they might be able to do take over a lot cheaper. Yes, thousands would die, but that's certainly not a consideration for the CCCP. Their view of the West is, to put it mildly, jaundiced. They'll presume (and may well be correct) that the West will be outraged, impose sanctions, bluster, etc., just as they did after Tianaminhn Square. But then they'll forget about things and get back to normal relations because, well, there's money to be made.

Mentions:#CCCP
r/investingSee Comment

I think it really depends. First you need to consider the relationship of the particular country relative to China and the west in general. Both sides will try to force countries to pick a side and it will be very hard to remain neutral. Depending on that outcome will determine how well or poorly your treated. You also need to consider the impact of sanctions. Odds are your ownership of Chinese stocks is being done through companies owned by the west, utilizing western/us banks, or are so afraid of being targeted by sanctions themselves will voluntarily decline to do business with countries sanctioned by the west. This again would leave your assets potentially frozen. Furthermore just like in Russia foreign investment will race out of the country. This will do two things. First stock values plummeted. Second, to stop the rapid devaluation of Russian companies Russia essentially shut down it's stock market entirely. Later it blocked foreigners from selling or transferring wealth out of the country via currency controls. Remember stocks can be used as collateral for debt or used as an asset to pay debts. A rapid collapse in the stock market cand ripple though the economy forcing others into bankruptcy. China would impose restrictions to halt the decline of the stock market likely largely though draconian bans on selling stock. Again this will particularly target foreign investors to appease homeland investors. You also should consider the prospect for Chinese companies in general. China's economy is based on exports to the west. If they were sanctioned by the west these companies will be in big trouble and likely plummet it value. Many will probably even go bankrupt or default on debt and be gobbled up by larger companies or the state on terms that will not be good for you. Remember, China really doesn't care about foreign investors and will screw them to protect local investors who help keep the CCCP in power. Keep in mind even business that primarily serve the Chinese market will be severely impacted because their customers work for companies who's incomes are dependent on exports. I would look at the situation very carefully if I were before investing in China. If conflict broke out it would be very bad for all countries involved but particularly China being it's economy is built on exports. If anything I think a much better plan would be to wait and invest after the conflict broke out. Then you could see outcome up front only invest if it is safe. You would also likely get some really cheap stocks. Any conflict would likely last years so there's no risk in missing out.

I'm x5 on the trade rn and aim for x9 for selling the contract. All i can say is : i got lucky. There was a lot of signals telling me it was going to go up. Alibaba is one of the "spear head" stock of China, a leader in IA and is still have significative growth despite the economic war with the USA. China is developping their new "silk road" meaning the market will grow, they are boosting the stock market with stimulus to introduce asians to buy stock. Alibaba seems also very underevaluated. Most of investors are defiant to chinese stock because of the CCCP being able to impact the market so they short it hard. The fair value of Alibaba should be around 600$ if we evaluate them in the same maners of amazon, google, or even 1300$ if we compare them to Tesla. So, i believed that in 2025 BABA would go up. I didnt expected the AI catalyst to be honest, wich was the trigger of this bullrun. But i was confident about a significant rise in this stock around march/april. But it's very easy for me to say : it was obvious! In reality the stock could have stay in the mud for 3-4 more month and i would have lost my premium. So as i said earlier : luck was on my side this time.

I guess the one thing about the Chinese that most westerners can’t quite grasp is that they (the mass middle class) are apolitical. They don’t care if it’s a black or white cat as long as it catches the mice. Tesla is losing out in China is due to the competitive offerings that the Chinese EV makers can offer. It really has very little to do with CCCP’s whimps or fancy. To say they are “rejecting Tesla” is inaccurate as Tesla is simply unable to compete with the Chinese EV makers. The real rejection of Teslas are taking place in European and Australian markets where Elon’s questionable behaviour/actions are turning consumers away. Tesla’s narrative of being the future is seriously being corroded by its figurehead’s notoriety.

This war has saved Americas stock market and let bubbles like Nvidia (xd) grow further, the only reason why this war keeps going on is because its so profitable for these countries. The Ukrainians hate Zelensky for over a year, and Ukraine will be thrown away after the war like a used condom. Joining Nato? xd , UE - well as this might seem the more realistic future, it's not going to happen since UE is having issues with keeping their long term participants and the people are more keen on leaving than staying in it. Ukraine is too much of a mess as a country to be taken into a serious organisation. Ukraine is going to lose its independence in 10-15 years, which will be one of the biggest achievements in the history of dictatorships considering people think we have the most "peaceful" time. Trump will end this not because he is compassionate about human life, but because he is a president like Obama or Clinton who during their reign need to remind as America to China or Russia whos their daddy. Your theory bears SOME weight, but it's definitely not 100%. Eastern and Southern Europe actually has more accessible and affordable transport - any country, that was a part of, or occupied by the Soviets in the past has this, Scandinavian public transport is amazing, Spain's rail is legendary in quality and affordability, Italy as well and I can continue like this for a good while. Almost ALL cities are walkable. People use bikes many times more than in the states and it's common for my coubtrymen to commute daily on a bike even if it's a job 5km away. This is unimaginable for an American, that hasn't lived in any European country for at least a few months. Car sale figures generally don't include used and 2nd hand car sales, which are more common in Europe not only because of affordability, but also due to older cars being higher in quality, more privacy-oriented, repairable for cheap and sometimes by yourself. In Spain or Italy you wouldn't buy a new car if you're living in a bigger town, because all new cars are BIG and the U.S. is to blame for that. This means they have a hard time fitting narrow streets and if a car is going to get scratched anyway, you're gonna buy used. Now you could argue, that it DOES count used car sales - no. It's impossible to track, because car sales in Europe more often than in the U.S. don't happen through official dealerships, that could keep track of car sales - they just change the registration. This is why big macs are going to be more accurate. Next, depending on the country - a lot of them are investing into local manufacturing, which not only generates jobs, but the product is of a higher quality than the U.S. The problem is the bait that is manufacturing in CCCP and it's infiltration into Europe with cheap products. Another thing is regulations - they yield gains long-term. The underregulation in the U.S. makes number go up, but allows for eadier monopolies, which may negatively impact the market in the future. Businesses and CEOs in the U.S. tend to favor short-term gains vs Japanese or European markets, which makes them more volatile and results in farces like Intel, which if continues it's current trend will need to be bailed-out by the government as they produce for military as well But in a sense you're correct. We're all investing too much into the U.S. market, although Norway might be changing that soon - especially if elections turn red. The Germans are stuck in the ancient times regarding technology and innovation and it will take a major investment from the government and a long time to innovate, but most likely won't as German youth votes populist and far right. This is a next issue I can shine some light upon as a European, that I didn't see mentioned in your post and that's our high corruption. Every European country is currently facing sino-russian infiltration attempts and in many places like Slovakia, Hungary, Germany and Italy they have been successful in getting their proxies into the government. This damages our economy to a great degree and results in growth in the CCCP and U.S. instead of local markets. So I'd say you're about 70% correct (I just pulled that number out of my ass, but yes) if you don't use car sales as a measurement.

Lets address the elephant in the room with Disney. After Avengers end game their quality went downhill to hell overnight. Its one part their affirmative action DEI agenda and other part cheaping out on hiring real directors and producers. By getting "political" in your otherwise what should be a fun superhero or Star Wars movie you've already alienated half your potential audience out the door not to mention those political views won't sit well with the CCCP movie approval board so it has an ice cream's chance in hell on appearing in China theaters. Then Disney hiring these indie director or producers they never manned a multi million dollar blockbuster film franchise before. That like giving a teenager who barely got his License a keys to an F1 race car.

> US and EU together can't even get Putin out of Ukraine Either you're delusional and you perfectly know it's not true or you're so deep in Russian propaganda it's not even worth trying, Russia said that they'd get Kyiv in 2 weeks, the war's been going on for 2 years and they're still nowhere near Kyiv, and the West has done literally 0 fighting, we just sent some help and weapons, we haven't even ramped up ammunitions production or anything, we're mostly sending the equipment we would've replaced eventually anyway, if NATO enters the fight, our troops would march on Moscow in a blink of an eye, notice how Russia struggled to get air superiority against ~0 anti air, your think they'd stand a chance against f35s? > Look up China's growth over the next decade China's growth has already halted and the CCCP is on trouble for it, Xi knows and if you search for a moment you'll find tons of info proving and explaining this They skyrocketed their economy by building real estate that nobody actually wanted, now the pool is depleted and they need to get an actual economy going. China is currently forcing students from rural areas to not come into cities because there are no jobs and they desperately need people to work the fields with their massively overnumbered population To end and stay in the topic of population, they're experiencing a massive decline, and predictions are worse than those in Japan on South Korea which are already tragic

Don't do that. You need to VTI-up and hang in there for the next 10-years. Seriously. VTI will get you 10-11% over 30-years...until America crumbles or is invaded by Russia & China. (The way San Francisco & Portland are being intentionally ruined, I assume the CCCP is landing there).

Only the top tier AI chips are banned for sale in China, Jenson doesn't want to jeopardize the existing business relations with the CCCP (who own and run all the AI firms in China), so of course he had to put on a sad face as to the current situation. Again, he's Taiwanese, the Taiwanese do NOT trust the Chinese.

If you look at Jenson's statement from a perspective of saving face and being apologetic to the CCCP for his "hands are tied" situation, then, one could deduce that in fact, butts are hurt.

I think it’s not anymore about economy/liberalism/auto workers but about survival of an industry. One way liberalism like china is doing can only cause problems. If the car industry gets fucked and chine gets the monopoly they will never let it go (imagine India making better and cheaper EV in 1 years for instance, China will subsidise to unthinkable levels their producers to impede Indian manufacturing ). I’m starting to see this protectionism more like a global economy preservation than intra-state economy protection. Imagine having the world economy like in the 1980 CCCP
